In series one Boo was helping FB try on a dress in a flashback!
Here she was helping the priest with his attire. Not sure if it means anything though!?

HoraceCope · 08/04/2019 14:02

She said goodbye to her father, and then goodbye to the priest, Father.

Namebot · 08/04/2019 14:02

I loved the finale, heartache and all. It will pass.

XXcstatic · 08/04/2019 14:08

It was brilliant and truthful. 10/10 to PWB

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/04/2019 14:10

Oof.

But I can’t help but feel he had his cake and ate it?

Am happy for Claire though and sad happy for Fleabag.

I still wish they’d ridden off into the sunset together though Sad

HoraceCope · 08/04/2019 14:13

I think now he has admitted he loves her, they will get back together, but we will never know, as there wont be a third series. He said he couldnt love her as well as God.

HoraceCope · 08/04/2019 14:14

anyone else hear her father saying, the priest was looking for you, dont break his heart

ADarkandStormyKnight · 08/04/2019 14:16

I think it was really hard for HP. That was what his speech was about. He left us with hope.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 08/04/2019 14:17

I think if they had stayed together they would have broken each others hearts.

hopefullybettersoon · 08/04/2019 14:17

I noticed her father said that, I wonder what that meant. Was it just that he had realised there was something between them?

RuffleCrow · 08/04/2019 14:19

I loved it when Fleabag refused to leave Claire and Martin alone in the kitchen "I'm staying right here". True love and sisterhood right there. Halo

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 08/04/2019 14:19

This description I found of fox symbolism in spirituality is helping a little...

Fox: foxes comes as a reminder that there could be a different way for you to approach your life or see things. If you repeatedly see foxes or imagery of foxes, it could be that you need to adjust your thinking about something and the way you are approaching things. Foxes may also come as a reminder to seek joy, to not take things so seriously and to laugh at the little things.

ByeClaire · 08/04/2019 14:21

Hmm, am I the only one who feels a bit let down?

I think most of the finale was wonderful and so right. Some amazing, beautifully nuanced moments, like Martin's speech. Claire's airport speech was perfect - she is totally my favourite. And Fleabag giving back the statute and helping her father.

I knew she'd probably not end up with the priest - not the feminist ethos of the piece or PWB, and better for her to be OK alone in many ways. But I still feel it was a real cop out ending his story like that - what about all the stuff he'd seemed to want to say? Why couldn't he love God and Fleabag by leaving the priesthood but not giving up his religion? I just wasn't convinced that he was so devoted to God and/or not fucked up enough not to go running back to Fleabag at some point. The ending was such that they both seemed to know it was completely over, and I didn't buy that.

TunstallTansy · 08/04/2019 14:22

Loved it, thought it was the perfect bittersweet end.

TheLastNigel · 08/04/2019 14:26

I loved it. LOVED it.It was of course perfect.
(But I secretly really wanted them to end up together)
Really sobbed at 'the only person I'd run through an airport for is you'

CurlsandCurves · 08/04/2019 14:41

FBs dad saying don’t break his heart.

He’s a quiet man of few words, but he sees in people more than he lets on. He sees the chemistry between them and knows FB. He knew.

Tinkoschminko · 08/04/2019 14:47

Was that a bin she shook her head at at the end? As in, nah I’m keeping it now I know it’s about mum?

The line from her dad about her knowing how to love made me burst into tears. It was all so perfect.

But yeah... can’t pretend I wouldn’t love to see an additional alternative ending.

HotPriest · 08/04/2019 14:48

Nice name change ByeClaire

howmanyleftfeet · 08/04/2019 14:48

Did anyone else notice the god mother couldn't remember her husband-to-be's name in that moment?

That's a new low even for her!

Tinkoschminko · 08/04/2019 14:50

Clever too though, the name thing.

howmanyleftfeet · 08/04/2019 14:50

RosemaryTelephoneOperator that's really apt isn't it?

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 08/04/2019 14:51

It really is! SmileI found it here: https://foreverconscious.com/common-animal-messengers-meaning

SlightlySleepy · 08/04/2019 14:56

I loved the way they avoided telling us the names of the characters by skipping the bit where they do the vows and by the step mum forgetting the fathers name

Tinkoschminko · 08/04/2019 15:00

Did anyone take the side-eye when Godmother introduces the bi-sexual chap to mean she’s shagging him?

ADarkandStormyKnight · 08/04/2019 15:00

Re foxes - maybe HP was scared of romantic love but now he isn't? He chose God partly because of his fears and now he knows it is the right choice, even if its the painful choice. FB has helped him through that.

Notice neither of them left the wedding hammered.
