Anyone watching?

dollybird · 12/04/2019 22:43

Tracy Bennett was in Shirley Valentine as the daughter (Miranda, Mallandra??)

Clawdy · 12/04/2019 22:45

Are we only half way through? How much longer can it go on now Holly is found?

Honeyroar · 12/04/2019 22:52

Is it not the last episode next week?

Just caught up with this. I was keen to watch as I live nearby so have spent every episode location spotting. DS found it very amusing that all the kids at the school are wearing his school tie (a boys school) - must have been what the local supplier had most of left in stock! And the main character, a single parent public servant, can afford to live in one of the nicest houses in Heysham, right in the clifftop overlooking the bay (hmm).

I could overlook that though as artistic licence is needed when finding locations.

This has tried hard to be Broadchurch set in Morecambe (which they've made look more glam than it is, depressingly). But they haven't done the research into police procedures which is what's really interrupted my suspension of disbelief. Two probable runaways in Morecambe have the whole force out searching, an FLO who is simultaneously investigating the case, conducting searches, and running round arresting people all over the shop? As for how she treated Nick in hospital to get info out of him...

One thing that bugged me all the way through was who is playing Jess, the mum. She looked familiar and I could picture her playing an unhappy character before, but couldn't place her at all. Just checked, she was Kelly in This England - which I just finished rewatching last week ffs!

Roomba · 13/04/2019 08:10

princessTiasmum Morecambe hasn't changed that much in the last 25 years I've lived nearby, progress is slow! Frontierland and many of the amusement places have gone now, and there's an Aldi plus a statue of Eric Morecambe on the front. That's about all I can think of!

Clawdy · 13/04/2019 08:11

Just checked, Honeyroar, I got it wrong, not half way through, but two more episodes left.

Honeyroar · 13/04/2019 09:13

Thanks for checking Clawdy.

Roomba I was thinking exactly the same thing about her house!

diddl · 13/04/2019 15:37

So do we think that Nick was hiding Holly to keep her safe?

Is it all drug related then?

The main woman's daughter-even if she had handed over all the drugs-do you think that she would still have owed Vincent(?) in some way & been drawn into doing handovers?

What a daft pair they are though!

Record yourself stealing & put it onlineHmm

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/04/2019 16:28

recap e4

I think nick was keeping holly safe. Glad she isn’t dead

Wonder if she knows her brother is dead

Honeyroar · 13/04/2019 16:39

She looked pretty upset when they found her.

Just shows how one little bit of dishonesty leads on to others. Presumably she was embarrassed to tell her sergeant the connection to Sean in the first meeting, and then when she discovered he was possibly more connected to the case she didn't want to say because she knew she should have declared it straight up the first time - and shagging in the street is illegal! Then she interferes with the CCTV and on it snowballs.

Clawdy · 14/04/2019 08:29

She didn't need to say they'd actually had a shag in the street though. She could have said they met in the bar and had a snog outside. It certainly wouldn't have got her into trouble, although a bit embarrassing.

beebreath · 14/04/2019 09:05

It's pretty shit really

I know that there has to be some artistic licence with police procedures but this is dire.

Having said that I've watched the three episodes but only to pick holes in procedure. Grin

diddl · 14/04/2019 09:19

I know!

I'm watching because I want to know who & whyHmm

AMBE123 · 14/04/2019 11:35

I do love police dramas despite being so unrealistic. I mean, she's basically a one woman show, and I especially 'love' the way 'uniform' are portrayed as characterless skivvies! Hmm

beebreath · 14/04/2019 12:54

Her and the Senior investigating officer (SIO) seem to be running this. The SIO would not be interviewing suspects.

princessTiasmum · 14/04/2019 23:28

Roomba.I am in Morecambe right now.can't believe how downhill it has gone.I lived here 50 years ago.and loved it.Still very friendly though.staying in a lovely hotel.but shocked at the state of the town

RandomMess · 15/04/2019 01:15

Very few shops etc now Sad I Hope Eden project goes ahead and is a real boost to the local economy. I heard the trampoline park is closing, I think it's just too expensive for the locals.

Cary2012 · 15/04/2019 07:16

Hope you don't mind me joining in.
I can't warm to this, although I'll see it through to the end, because I don't care about any of the characters, none of them are engaging, especially the lead cop, I have no empathy for her at all.
Poor man's Broadchurch!

princessTiasmum · 15/04/2019 18:58

Tracy Bennet was in Coronation street a long time ago, and i was once mistaken for her in a local supermarket, when she was a lot younger of course, i had a coat also like she wore and was [am] blonde, but dont look like her as she is now,
A woman stopped me and said is or isnt it, didnt know what she was on aout until she told me, and assured her i wasnt Tracy Bennett

princessTiasmum · 15/04/2019 19:01

Roomba meant to say the people are still as friendly as they were when i lived there, met some lovely people there this time too
Much friendlier than here, shouldnt really say that as i am from Yorkshire, and live in Yorkshire, but different areas of Yorkshire are different too

Clawdy · 17/04/2019 22:25

Tonight's was better, but didn't feel sorry for Lisa. And a bit annoying that every teenager in it is involved in crime.

Honeyroar · 17/04/2019 22:39

I'm still happily watching it. I laughed that the safe house was over looking the street with a huge window that they stood in front of. Overlooking the bay where the brother died!

OP posts:
Clawdy · 17/04/2019 22:41

And how unlikely that Holly would have ended up at Nick's bedside!

Rumbletum2 · 17/04/2019 23:13

I’ve never seen anything so full of unlikable characters.

I was willing whatserfaces boss to sack her. They’re all just so stupid.
