Yes I agree about Geoff, never really thought about it until you posted it, then tonight when he said to Yasmeen "see, you can be considerate, I thought what a fecking tool, he's not nice at all.

Rita was right to give Mary the letters, as she knew Norris had hidden them.

When Mary's camper van was towed away it had all her clothes and everything else in it, but it was then just forgotten, and she never seemed to bother about getting it back or disposing of it.
I thought tonight's was rather dull; I really don't care who DJs where.

Just came on to say that I think Geoff is horrible to Yasmeen and is very controlling.

He's so horrible I wonder if Corrie are building up to a DV storyline in older couples.

There is no way on earth the Rita we know would have read those letters. No way, no how. It’s just not her. Her moral standard is far higher. She was behaving like Vera duckworth or Beth Tinker would’ve done.

Not sure why they’ve given Ali that awful new side parting and tweed jacket look. They always plonk him in the middle of storylines where he doesn’t belong. He’s a doctor. Give him his own story instead of revolving him around dopey Ryan.

Yes, DJ Geoff should do one back to the hospital. Yasmeen never seems to have a proper presence in the show.

I don’t know what it is but Ali never suits any of the clothes they put him in. I can’t pinpoint it. He just looks “wrong”.

They are definitely building up to something with Geoff'S behaviour - it's too ridiculous otherwise and the scene with Alya was definitely a lead in to something. He's an arsehole.

Hopefully they’re building to yasmeen coming to her senses and sending him packing.

Ryan went back to speed dial at 6.35 pm.
To start for 7 pm.
Then came the last track bit ...he went after Alia (sp) but it was daylight ?
How long was his stint for ??

Why did Alya hire decks and tweet about a DJ night at speed dhal and THEN ask Ryan if he was free?? Surely you sort the dj first. And who organises a student night in a booze-free curry house?

It’s all just so shit and pointless at the moment. I don’t care about one single storyline. Thinking about giving up. Imagine if I used those 3 hours a week to do something productive with my life instead

@Shwave I'm really not tuning in much at the moment - in fact since the factory collapse I've only been skimming two or three episodes whilst doing other stuff. Emmerdale seems so much better than Corrie at the moment.

It illegal to open other peoples mail in the USA where it is a federal offence - and which is probably why so many people here think the same.

In the UK it is only illegal to open other peoples mail if you do so with the intention of causing them harm.

(3)A person commits an offence if, intending to act to a person’s detriment and without reasonable excuse, he opens a postal packet which he knows or reasonably suspects has been incorrectly delivered to him.
(4)Subsections (2) and (3) of section 83 (so far as they relate to the opening of postal packets) apply to subsection (3) above as they apply to subsection (1) of that section.
(5)A person who commits an offence under subsection (1) or (3) shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to both.

The main point of the above is 'without reasonable excuse'
So let's say a debt collector sends a letter to your address but it's addressed to someone else. You have a reasonable excuse' to open that letter to find contact details of the debt collector.

Now let's say you receive a letter from a bank for the people over the road. You open it to read their statement. That's an unreasonable excuse and therefore illegal.
Add to that, if you open mail with the intent to commit identity theft, that's illegal also as you've opened it with malicious intent.

It is not a blanket law that says you can't open other peoples mail.

Thanks Monkey. Don’t suppose you know if it could be interpreted that Norris delayed the post in its transmission to recipient Mary? Or does the 84-1a clause apply only to when it’s in the possession of the postal worker?

And similarly Rita/Frieda had no reasonable excuse to delay or open Mary’s post so could the “detriment” in clause 84/3 be interpreted as the recipient’s right to privacy or something, or does it have to directly relate to something more tangible like fraud?

Poor Mary. I wish Brendan had made a return to her life. It would be a much better storyline than him being dead.
