I don't think these things are made to be believable though

Before it started I assumed this was gonna be student and lecturer affair..

The actor playing Leahs dad is Colin Firths brother Peter.

I think it’ll turn out that Leah is the crazy one.
Otherwise it’s just...predictable?

I’ll watch tomorrow, I’m a bit intrigued.

I’m just watching it on plus one. Enjoying it but it’s hard to follow!

It's watchable apart from the fact that I'm pretty sure that's not how unis would handle cheating.

Is this speculative fiction set in an alternate universe?

Agree with the story being totally outlandish.

I don't think think Leah actually believes that Rose has plagiarised the dissertation as that would be very easy to prove. I think she has suspicions that Rose has paid for someone to write an original one for her to the standard of a 1st.

When Leah said "you could have just paid for a lower mark and I wouldn't have blinked an eye" I took that to mean that if Rose had paid for a 2.1/2.2 standard dissertation then she would not have been suspicious.

"Cheat" could also turn out to be referring to Leah's husband of course - possibly with Rose?

Ohh it's silly in the usual ITV drama type way (Dr Foster!), but for its type it's pretty good. Unbelievable codswallop, for sure. More holes than a pair of fishnets, absolutely. But that's what ITV drama specialises in.

Disappointing! I work in HE and there is no way a lecturer would have confronted a student like that. And a student turning up at the door of a lecturer would never have been let in.

Totally unbelievable. There's policies and procedures for reporting academic misconduct, a student would never be challenged outright like that. I can suspend reality for most things but this wasn't even done well. It was obvious Rose had taken the cat and obvious the husband is going to end up sleeping with her.

Let’s make it more fun: the husband does cheat, but with her best friend. Leah is aware of all this. She also knows Rose has a ‘past’ and id completely manipulating her for her own ends. Leah killed the cat herself as part of the set up.
Would be more interesting than the usual trope!

@SunburstsOrMarbleHalls there was a prison guard on both sides. One with Rose and one with Lea.

@CluedoAddict I must be going mad but I can't see a guard on Rose's side at all. At the beginning a guard walks past in the corridor with the glass viewing window but other than that the guard stands on the right hand side. It's probably not significant anyway.

It wasn’t clear at all that the shagging in the toilets was just a fantasy. DH and I kept wondering why her lover didn’t pop up again (so to speak!). Would have been better if that was real so she was a cheat too, surely? And why did she do whatever it was by the sinks and not in a cubicle - such a high likelihood of someone walking in! Crazy!

That was bizarre. Seriously what woman masturbates by the sinks in a public toilet? They've been spending too much time with Jess Bradley! I thought it was real sex too, a quickie is much more believable than sink side masturbation. Also why would you hang around once you'd spotted someone was in a cubicle? You'd beat a hasty exit so they wouldn't know who it was.

I think Leah’s dad is involved in some way too, maybe with Rose as he taught her last year.
