How good does the trailer look!

So excited for 31 May Grin

I'm torn between rereading the book before or waiting until after

Did anyone else spot that Agnes Nutter's village was filmed at the Weald and Downland Museum...which is where the Repair Shop is also filmed (random unrelated fact if the day).

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/06/2019 08:39

*Hastor! Not History ffs

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/06/2019 08:40

I did not, although I did notice that Jack Whitehall looks increasingly like an ex of mine Grin

longwayoff · 03/06/2019 08:55

Really Lady? If you've finished with him can I have him? Don't mind leftoversSmile

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/06/2019 09:06

Cheat and a liar unfortunately!

longwayoff · 03/06/2019 09:11

Ah well. Just a passing fancy. I'm old enough to be his granny anyway. Trust you found something much nicer.

CMOTDibbler · 03/06/2019 09:11

I did notice that it was the Weald museum. For me, dog has always been a black scruffy broken coated terrier mongrel

darkriver19886 · 03/06/2019 09:13

Up to episode 2.
I have to admit I am not a massive Prachett fan. I tried to read a colour of magic years ago and couldn't get into it.

However, I was intrigued with Good omens. Surprisingly found it very enjoyable. Tennant and Sheen have the right chemistry that make it a lot more appealing.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/06/2019 09:17

The colour of Magic isn't the best place to start, I don't think. He took a few books to warm up, as it were.

Merril · 03/06/2019 09:28

Bit the only film.ive ever enjoyed more than the book it is based on was Stardust

Agree with this. I much preferred the film to the book. And also Coraline, another Gaiman book.

I really enjoyed Good Omens. I think it helped that Neil Gaiman did the script for it. Sheen was awesome as ever and I even enjoyed David Tennant chewing the scenery. Overall, I think it was pretty faithful rendition and it's a shame that there won't be a sequel.

Isatis · 03/06/2019 09:59

Bit of a waste of Benedict Cumberbatch Sad

PerspicaciaTick · 03/06/2019 10:03

there are rumours that there may be a season 2. I have no idea how.

Pascha · 03/06/2019 10:44

@longwayoff doomier is right Smile. Trouble is I think of Death as Discworld Death and this is obviously different. But it shouldn't be should it?

Pascha · 03/06/2019 10:45

Anyone else have the theme as an earworm now?

longwayoff · 03/06/2019 10:52

Pascha, definitely was expecting DEATH too along with Binky and maybe a kitten 🐱 or two. Never mind. Not fancying a sequel written solely by Neil Gaiman though. He's good but not TP.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/06/2019 12:08

What are your favourite lines that were kept from the book? I laughed like a drain at
" You see a wile, you thwart. Am I right?" which I have always loved.

noblegiraffe · 04/06/2019 00:39

The quiz machine: what year did Elvis die?

I DON’T CARE WHAT IT SAYS, I NEVER LAID A FINGER ON HIM.

noblegiraffe · 04/06/2019 00:39

Should have said, was waiting for that and they cut it!

Graphista · 04/06/2019 01:52

Saw David And Michael promoting on Graham Norton And I think I would like but...

I've never read the book.

Will I need to?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 04/06/2019 02:53

No - you don't need to have read the book
there are rumours that there may be a season 2. I have no idea how
weren't they kicking around ideas for a sequel that they never got round to - with more focus on Gabriel (John Hamm)
Wiki: While Gabriel was only mentioned once in the original novel, his role was meant to be expanded in the never-finished sequel to Good Omens, so Gaiman incorporated parts of the plot of the planned sequel regarding the role of the angels into the TV series' plot

There could well be other plot points in the planned sequel that never was, to explore?

SpamChaudFroid · 04/06/2019 07:21

You'll probably enjoy it even more Graphista, as you won't be comparing it to the book. Then read the book after, (you'll probably want to) to get all the nuances that were omitted from the film.

UnaOfStormhold · 04/06/2019 07:56

In my copy of the book there is a Q&A with Neil and Terry which mentions that they have talked about a sequel and "sort of know what happens" which has always intrigued me.

Have enjoyed episodes 1&2 - some brilliant bits and much bringing to life what I had imagined. But I do feel that it is a bit over narrated in parts - as if they've not only put in lots of good bits from the book (very welcome) but also added lots of explaining of the plot because the studio were worried people might not understand otherwise. I can understand both but together they seem a bit much.

Isatis · 04/06/2019 08:16

Graphista, I watched it without having read the book or indeed any other Pratchett book, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

longwayoff · 04/06/2019 08:16

Spam's right I think Graphista, it's effectively The Omen film with a sense of humour. It's enjoyable. Pratchett said his readers were 'teenage boys and their mums' so bear that in mind. Neil Gaiman has done a great job for Sir Terry, he deserves a lot of credit. TV first, book afterwards.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 04/06/2019 10:53

They were going to write a sequel called 668 the neighbour of the beast.

Did anyone pick up on the ‘I believe in peace, bitch’ Tori Amos nod? Also that she did the closing theme song.

I loved this more than I’ve ever loved any telly. I’ve been a die hard Neil Gaiman fan since the nineties and I’m a bit conflicted about the fact that my niche love is now so mainstream Grin
