Stop panicking everyone!! I've got it on Dailymotion.

My instant impression of new doctor is I like her. Hope they don't mess her up!!! Also the absence of the Charlie is a help the episode not be rubbish.

I know he's been in it forever. But his increasing woodenness is really bringing the episodes down

Mumdiva99 · 29/12/2019 08:31

I was so emotional last night I typed in error.....I meant when Rash hugged the boy....of course.

Natural causes.....but Ethan needs to pay for how he's been and Rash needs some sort of justice for the way he's been treated as being incompetent when he's not.

purpleme12 · 29/12/2019 08:45

Well things are brushed under the carpet so not sure that'll happen....

ageingdisgracefully · 29/12/2019 08:54

That's another senior doctor buggering off with no notice. Grin.

I hope there's a juicy backstory to Mason's death. I thought his mother looked decidedly underwhelmed at his demise...Hmm

It was better last night, imho.

Squigean · 29/12/2019 09:12

Actually, the new woman a doctor? Thought she said she was "your new ECP", never heard that before. Looked up a review (because I'd forgotten her name (it's Faith Cadogen)) and it described her as Advantage Clinical Practitioner. Evidently I misheard, mind you not sure what an ACP is either!!

SmuggyMcKnobson · 29/12/2019 09:12

I thought that the "santa rabbit on the scooter" was the "levitating poodle" that the female patient thought she had hallucinated (and clearly hadn't).

Squigean · 29/12/2019 09:14

Also at the end Dylan said "Who are they?" didn't he? (The on-call women replied something about fairy God mother).

So is there more than her new?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 29/12/2019 09:18

I initially thought Mason's storyline was going to show him being abused at home. I had grown to like him much more by the time he died. He must go down in Casualty history as one of the shortest-surviving main characters ever. How long was he in it for? Four/five months?

I just wish Gem would come back and give Rash the comfort he so sorely needs.

purpleme12 · 29/12/2019 09:22

@Squigean I took it to mean that the on call woman had provided the buns showing that she wasn't all bad

Squigean · 29/12/2019 09:26

Ah!! So it wasn't about people!!! Didn't spot the buns.

Squigean · 29/12/2019 09:28

Mason's only been in it since end of August!!

Cockadoodledooo · 29/12/2019 09:53

When he was found dead on the floor at the very beginning, I assumed that after the opening credits we'd see "x hours/days earlier" then find out what led up to it. Was a bit shocking really.

Also expecting to see romance between Dylan and on call woman in not too distant future.

RJnomore1 · 29/12/2019 10:09

Crikey just watching now and what a traumatic and unexpected start that was.

Squigean · 29/12/2019 10:34

I kept expecting it to turn out to be a nightmare Rash was having!! Casualty has got so odd in the last few years I almost expected it!

Cockadoodledooo · 29/12/2019 11:04

Yes @Squigean, that crossed my mind too. Or a 'this is what could happen unless you do things differently' kind of story.

Actually tbh my very first thought was Rash was hallucinating Mason on the floor, and that when he called for help no-one would see what he saw.

Trews2019 · 29/12/2019 11:08

Was it not Advanced Clinical Practitioner?

purpleme12 · 29/12/2019 11:13

Yes it is

spiderlight · 29/12/2019 11:38

Nice to see a new staff member who's actually really competent from the start. She confused me for a minute though because I thought she was the nurse from 'Bodies'!

Mason was a surprise. Poor Rash. Looks as if it will mean that Ethan leaves under a serious cloud though.

Equanimitas · 29/12/2019 15:17

When the trailers said it was going to be all stressful and gloomy, I was bracing myself for another hour of Duffy and Charlie. So I was quite impressed that they managed to produce a total surprise, and thought that Rash actor in particular did an excellent job.

Also quite pleased to see a new, competent character turn up without fanfare and without being someone's mate who has been fast-tracked through the recruitment system in massive disregard of good employment practice.

doublebarrellednurse · 29/12/2019 19:08

New character - She's an ACP - essentially a nurse with a masters in emergency care, she's wearing Matron uniform.

Squigean · 29/12/2019 19:19

Ah, thanks @doublebarrellednurse

I think she seems like she'll be a good likeable character (and competent).

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 29/12/2019 19:37

I've been watching Casualty since nearly the beginning and I can remember a couple of other occasions when a new character has been suddenly killed off just when you were expecting them to become a regular. As I recall, there was a nurse called Kelly who committed suicide after making a lot of mistakes. She'd been in it for a month or so I think. There was also a nurse who didn't "stand clear" when a patient was being defibrillated, and was killed by electrocution. So there are precedents for Mason but it was still quite a shock - I really disliked him to start with but he was growing on me, as I suppose the scriptwriters intended.

I think the problem with Casualty at the moment is that they think the viewers are a lot more invested in Charlie and Duffy than we actually are. The dementia storyline could be really powerful and harrowing were it not being carried by the two worst actors on the show. I really don't think either of them has the acting chops to do it justice.

MadisonAvenue · 29/12/2019 20:26

EoinMcLoves I remember Kelly too.

I certainly didn't see Mason's death coming, just as he was becoming more likeable, especially last week (I think?) when we saw a softer side of with Ruby's sister's baby.

PlaceYourItemInTheBaggingArea · 29/12/2019 20:54

OMG just watched it on catch up 😭😭😭😭😭

Got all composed like, then the bike scene at the end! 😭😭😭

PlaceYourItemInTheBaggingArea · 29/12/2019 20:57

Duffy and Charlie have been crap since the beginning, a little bit of me died when she came back in it. There is more wood in that household than the Amazon rainforest. Talk about ham acting.
