I know Amanda Mealing who plays Connie is having an extended break from Casualty but she’s ever so thin.

She says she’s in constant pain with her back and has had an operation but she really does look quite poorly.

I thought the same too Optimist1. I'm guessing she might try but not get away with it.

I've watched the clip again - Connie says 'The one nearest you' and Duffy repeats 'The one nearest me' but then takes the one furthest away from her. Connie made the mistake of not labelling them but she can't know that Duffy also made a mistake.

Interesting. I think it would have been better if they'd done it as just Connie making the mistake

As a nurse, there's no way you'd pick an unlabelled syringe up on trust. Actually even a labelled one that I hadn't drawn up would worry me, I'd rather discard and draw up again, particularly as it wasn't even an emergency situation at that point. Sloppy writing and I'm surprised the nurse advisor to the show didn't veto it.

But it fits in with the story though. Connie's not thinking straight and Duffy's not right because because of her dementia

The new porter will probably turn out to be a consultant surgeon or something! I predict that she'll end up with David and then possibly have to leave.
