Really missing Dylan.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/06/2019 22:25

Connie does look so ill and slim

Saw an old episode of death in paradise where she plays a singer and she has a much fuller face and figure

Thank goodness Time and Motion Man admonished Jacob for his late arrival on the shift!

Good point about Blake, Francis .

RedForShort · 09/06/2019 11:23

Jade's deafness is a funny one isn't it (storyline wise I mean). It's been so infrequently mentioned. Not like the writers to have something different about a character and not make it into a full on possible dragged out storyline.

OP posts:
Optimist1 · 09/06/2019 16:25

I quite like it that Jade isn't defined by her deafness, but it's realistic for it to be relevant on occasions such as last night.

RedForShort · 09/06/2019 19:06

Oh I agree it's good her deafness isn't hasn't been used to define her. I just think that fact it hasn't is quite unusual for Casualty. There's usually a big concentration of events about a trait of a character. (It'd be like having a gay character and them not being camp or it never talked about - hasn't happened (least not in my recall anyway!)

OP posts:
Optimist1 · 09/06/2019 20:46

Totally agree about gay characters, although they've been quite subtle with Jan the paramedic, haven't they - we learned she was gay, but that hasn't featured in the storylines she's been involved in. Perhaps it's just the men that have the heavy-handed (or should I say limp-wristed?) approach!

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 09/06/2019 21:59

Ben Harding wasn't camp, but obviously his sexuality was highly relevant to the storylines with him and Toby.

I'm always slightly sad when staff in the ED need to see someone and it's not him these days.

The actress has said that she's moderately deaf and can sign.

QueenofmyPrinces · 11/06/2019 22:13

Just caught up and really enjoyed the episode.

Dylan was as fantastic as ever!!! - although I wasn't too impressed with him dismissing Jade's concerns about that guy in Resus and not looking at the patient when she asked him too. I thought that was quite out of character as I doubt any doctor would refuse to look over a patient in Resus that a nurse was worried about by saying they don't have time.

And yes, Jade signing with that patient was a really nice touch.

I hope the ridiculous and boring Jacob storyline is over soon.

Danni was quite frightening when she was about to perform a tracheostomy on the lady in the street!! I have a feeling this episode isn't the last we'll see of her...

Part of me is hoping that Iain and Ruby end up together....

What is going on with Connie? She is way too ethical to put the blame on Archie for her own mistake.

purpleme12 · 16/06/2019 00:07

She's making the mistake because she's so anxious/in a bit place, also clearly taking tablets when she shouldn't, becoming addicted to them and so she's lying because she doesn't want all this to be found out and doesn't want to face up to it either

IslaMann · 16/06/2019 08:53

purple yes I get that. It's just such a massive personality change that I'm not sure what the writers are trying to do. I've experienced MH problems myself as have many others I know and while behaviours may change, usually morals and ethics don't.

purpleme12 · 16/06/2019 09:06

Mmm I don't know I've known people who've completely changed

spiderlight · 16/06/2019 11:59

Connie is just completely unravelling. I feel so sorry for her - she's always been so strong that it would be a massive climbdown for her to ask for help. Trying and failing to call after Elle at the end of the episode a couple of weeks ago was hard enough for her.

Bouldghirl · 16/06/2019 12:50

I understand that Connie is taking a break from the show so I suspect the writers have come up with this as a plot device to write her out for a period. You do have to feel for her though with what she is going through.

RedForShort · 16/06/2019 13:22

It is a big change for her to fits with paranoia; that she wouldn't want to have caused someone (esp as husband was quite wound up before)

I actually didn't mind Jacob in last night's episode. Usually find him a bit robotic.

OP posts:
DiseasesOfTheSheep · 16/06/2019 18:43

I'm not sure Connie is canonically ethical... Back in the early days on Holby she was pretty cutthroat for sure!

Optimist1 · 16/06/2019 22:18

Yes, I've always felt that Connie's overriding loyalty is to Connie! When she was firing on all cylinders and being a very skilled medic that wasn't too much of an issue, but now she's less than brilliant it's noticeable that her moral compass isn't quite right.

IslaMann · 17/06/2019 20:02

Ah. I've never watched Holby so I don't know her backstory. I stand corrected! Smile

It'd be great if David replaces Charlie. He's been so poor for so long (a non-entity is right!!)

He's the worst character in it I think. (I like Archie and warning to the two new nurses.)
