Unless that's a fake memory of mine!!

Being a sad little loser, I've watched a LOT of old Casualty over recent years (on Drama, some is available online - I really do need a life!), and I can't see any real change in the patient - staff content. Individual episodes vary - obviously very little patients in this week's episode, but that's balanced by crazy urn sisters / paeds leukaemia cases of recent weeks etc.

Loving the idea that Gem kidnapped the kid to let Iain have a hug and then abandoned her in the car park! In Holby, anything is possible. She may still be there next week, living wild in a bush with her toy unicorn.

SoupDragon · 28/04/2019 18:22

I never noticed the woman in the car park. Having re-watched it I can see why - she's kept out of shot for most of it.

stofi · 28/04/2019 23:31

I kept worrying about 5 year old Storm missing out on a unicorn.

moomoomemoomoo · 29/04/2019 19:33

Stories yes me too!

moomoomemoomoo · 29/04/2019 19:34

Aarrgghh didn't check for autocorrect... Stofie not Stories!

moomoomemoomoo · 29/04/2019 19:34

I give up... Stofi

I have just caught up and I loved the episode. The actor who plays Ian is fantastic and I had tears in my eyes on more than one occasion.

Finally caught up. Always seem to be behind

Thought Ian was great. Ans yes the call outs were a bit close to his circumstances

And liked the therapist tho 3am? Really

bakedbeanzontoast · 04/05/2019 22:14

Hopefully now they are back together Duffy won't be quite so annoying 🥴

It’s positive language, meant to empower people. ‘Living with dementia’ (and other conditions) puts living front and centre, rather than your illness.

I'm with that girl's dad - no nurse with dementia (living with it or otherwise) is looking after me. And isn't it weird how her symptoms have all but disappeared since she was diagnosed? And I second the passionless hug. Honestly, they have absolutely no chemistry together at all.

And I don't blame that doctor for leaving. She barely has anything to do. I wouldn't be surprised if Ethan leaves next, because he has barely any screen time after all that emoting he had to do for far too long.

Where is Dylan? I love Dylan. We need more Dylan!

Redglitter · 05/05/2019 13:54

I was just glad last night was less of Ian & more of the show were used to.

Going against the grain of most of what I've seen online but I'm sick of his story now & I hated last weeks episode. For the first time ever I put it off before it was finished.

Isitmybathtimeyet · 05/05/2019 15:13

‘Living with’ isn’t Duffy’s own way of saying it, no. It’s widely used in the NHS and voluntary sector for a wide range of conditions.

Isitmybathtimeyet · 05/05/2019 15:14

I am also utterly fed up of Ian.

grumpyyetgorgeous · 05/05/2019 16:13

Thanks for explaining it @Isitmybathtimeyet I must admit it makes me cringe every time she says it but that does make sense.

RedForShort · 05/05/2019 16:54

I think 'living with dementia' probably a better tag line than 'consumed by dementia'. It's slightly more positive (if not as true).

The whole thing behind her still being a competent nurse is daft during because one of the very first hints she has dementia was her almost fatally messing up medication.

Nursing is one career that would have to be affected, no matter how horrible that is for the person who has it.

Ment to have a smiley face after first paragraph. Without it it looks like I'm being a patronising dick!!!

Isitmybathtimeyet · 05/05/2019 16:56

Possibly because it’s Duffy saying it?! I find most of her unbearable.

Francis I understand what you mean, having nursed a terminally ill relative myself, and finding a lot of the imposed ‘positivity’ hard to bear at times. But I think it does help people to think of themselves as more than a disease, while they are still able to have that sense of self in the case of dementia.

Isitmybathtimeyet · 05/05/2019 18:08

And now actually caught up myself. FGS, any other couple reuniting after a marriage split would at least have a snog.

WelcomeToGreenvale · 05/05/2019 19:00

Just good to know that Ethan is still in it, I don't think we've seen him for weeks, I was starting to think I'd missed his leaving episode.

Yy more Dylan. And I hope Elle doesn't leave, I like her, and giving notice is so weird and out of place that surely something will come up in the next couple of episodes.

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 05/05/2019 19:06

I am absolutely not fed up with Iain, and quite happy with his current prominence. I would definitely like more Dylan though.

Also, where's Ruby's creepy little stalker hiding? She must be escalating some time soon too...

bakedbeanzontoast · 05/05/2019 21:49

I'd like more Connie Dylan the boss paramedic. Less Iain Duffy Charlie and the lady who is prob leaving anyway (sorry I have memory probs so can never remember names)
