Star Afternoon. Star
I love the Oscars, always have. Haven't seen another thread yet. Posting this for red carpet/fashion/ceremony twaddle. Hopefully some of you will join me later Wine
First show without a host since the Snow White debacle. Disney sued. For those of you interested in that, articles here:

I think Glenn Close's Oscar is long-deserved. Wouldn't mind seeing Reg win for best supporting. Think Black Panther would be worthy enough for Best Film but not sure it will, it would have got a win in the best popular film until they binned the category. Interested whether the Guardian's doc will win and who wins best short. Is it Amy Adams's year finally? no And will Anita Dobson be watching Adam Lambert and Bryan May performing Bohemian Rhapsody on stage? Wine

The new Poppins left me a bit cold

Whereas the original is a film for the ages and all ages I did feel like I was watching a children's film

CoachBombay · 25/02/2019 02:16

Phaoarrrr I love this man 🥰

CoachBombay · 25/02/2019 02:18

That is Trevor Noah for anyone looking back 😂

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 25/02/2019 02:19

I loved Three Billboards Barton. Saw it with DD (who I do sometimes have a barney with) and the point when the Mum remembers the last conversation with her daughter just fucking broke me.
And later with the deer when she says ''you ain't her''. I was silently sobbing. It was very well written.

I know I was heaving back tears at the same points

Fantastic acting

CoachBombay · 25/02/2019 02:25

I wasn't expecting this win if I'm honest, I had it with Sam.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 25/02/2019 02:25

Ah fair play. Was hoping for a win for smiley Reg but never mind.

Sam Rockwell is one on my 'freebie list' alongside Woody Harrelson, Richard Osman, Brandon Flowers and Jeff Goldblum.
Have you seen The Way Way Back on Netflix? or Laggies? He is excellent in both.

OP posts:
BartonHollow · 25/02/2019 02:29

He has been thought of as the dead cert for it from Day One

I personally found everything about Green Book very dated

BartonHollow · 25/02/2019 02:30

Way, Way Back is brilliant

Also, Moon

CoachBombay · 25/02/2019 02:31

Spiderman was really good, both I and DS enjoyed it 😂

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 25/02/2019 02:31

Ah sorry, Laggies is called Grow up on Netflix. 7 Psychos is ace as well.

BartonHollow · 25/02/2019 02:32

I would have given it to Richard E Grant having seen all the films including Vice

Sam Rockwell is barely even in Vice

BartonHollow · 25/02/2019 02:33

Come dressed as Candy Floss

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 25/02/2019 02:33

barton not only do we share a love of the Umbrella Academy but I suspect we also have similar taste in films Smile

BartonHollow · 25/02/2019 02:35

Think someone has told Glenn to go for it...with gold dress and cape, Oscar's going to finish that look off beautifully Star

OP posts:
RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 25/02/2019 02:42

ooh, now Three Identical Strangers is a documentary I want to see, even though I know the 'twists'. It annoys the hell out of me that the research is locked up with a D-notice type thing on it. Angry

Mike and Dana!

CoachBombay · 25/02/2019 02:43

You have achieved "embarrassing" bravo....🙄

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 25/02/2019 02:44

I still would have liked to have seen Sacha Baron Cohen's Freddie portayal/filthier version....

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 25/02/2019 02:45

I've seen Late Afternoon, it was poignant.

Favourite dress : Kiki Layne

Elegance

Least :

Linda Cardellini, you're great, but what the fuck event are you attending it's the Oscars not an evening pool party hosted by Hugh Hefner in the 70s
