Watched the first four of this so far. Very quirky and Wes Andersonish but the music is brilliantly done, and it's very original even within the superhero genre

Andrew Scott

Um, Grin

in Fleabag bart Grin I know he's gay in real life. Robert Sheehan's straight but has experimented. Sadly, not with me who is older than both but Andrew looks a lot younger than 42

I wanted to like this more than I did. I loved the premise, but felt the action on the series felt a bit flabby. There were lots of scenes where characters were just talking with no real purpose or saying things out loud that we already knew or had been overly implied already. I mean, how many conversations did Hazel and Cha-Cha need to have with the diner owner?! It was much more effective when things were looked at lightly, such as Klaus' relationship with Dave. I definitely thought it should have been an 8-parter rather than a 10-parter.

Having said that I'd still absolutely watch Season 2, I just hope it's a bit tighter!

LoudestRoar · 06/03/2019 08:14

I wish I had spotted this, but missed it, so can't claim credit. The woman who was on the bus when Klaus used the briefcase, is apparently spotted in every episode. She was Kennys mum in the bowling alley!

I'm trying to buy the soundtrack (the known tracks, Tiffany, Gloria Gaynor etc) but I can only find it as an mp3 download on Amazon. Anyone seen it on cd anywhere?

BartonHollow · 08/03/2019 00:09

There's several lists on Spotify but nothing official I don't think

OP posts:
BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/03/2019 10:23

I don't know if there will be a CD of it. For a start the Netflix generation are also the Spotify and iTunes generation so they don't buy CDs, I don't even have a way to play a CD anymore. But also they didn't know that the series and the music would be as instantly popular as it was, it's less than a month since it was released which is quite a short timescale to negotiate all the different artists for a CD release. It's really more of a film thing to release the soundtrack at the same time as the film.

Shame Sad

iklboo · 08/03/2019 14:31

I'm disappointed the soundtrack isn't available. It's brilliant.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/03/2019 15:04

Netflix have an official Umbrella Academy playlist on Spotify, but weirdly it doesn't have Shingaling on it (the song where Hazel and Cha Cha are burning down the glass eye place), which is the one that has been an ear worm for me for a couple of weeks.

OverInfestedBadger · 08/03/2019 15:36

It also doesn’t have Run Boy Run (Woodkid) on it, which is great

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/03/2019 16:03

Run Boy Run is on the playlist that I just listened to. It's only dated 4 days ago though.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 08/03/2019 18:13

Binged it. Loved it and really hope there is a season 2...soon!
Loved the sound track and the quirky fun of it all.

bokkleorandoove · 08/03/2019 18:21

Loved it especially number 5 and was surprised that it’s written by Gerard Way from my chemical romance.

hazeyjane · 23/03/2019 22:43

Have been drawing it out and just watched last episode. Very desperate for there to be a season 2. Like XMen on acid, with a heavy dose of Pulp Fiction via Edward Gorey!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/03/2019 22:48

They'll be filming season 2 this year apparently. I think we should have some sort of fan pressure group to bring back Eudora Patch. I also hope that Hazel and Agnes have some sort of happy ever after, or at least a happy fortnight or something.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 02/04/2019 18:54

Yay offically been renewed

HeadfirstForHalos · 02/04/2019 19:34

So glad it's been renewed. I read the comics years ago as i was a huge MCR fan and lived this series. Dh loved it too and he is def not an MCR fan 😁

Have watched it twice now, once with dh and binge watched it last weekend with dd2. I love Klaus (poor Dave) and also the romance between Hazel and Agnes which felt very Twin Peaks. Also like Five, Diego , Vanya and Ben but not so fond of Luther or Alison.

Roll on S2!

DaedricLordSlayer · 07/04/2019 11:04

very disappointed with the last episode.

the hanging out at bowling alley talking for hours when the world is going to end I a matter of hours, The not one person being shot by 10-15 masked gunmen standing a few feet away with machine guns spraying bullets at them whilst they run in plain sight down the bowling lanes? even stormtroopers would do better.

Luther? I mean they all know he's pretty much a naive 13 year old boy in ape/mans body who still see saving the world as game of glory, But yeah they still allowed him to make desitions for them. They could quite happily see their sister in torment and had an understanding that it was being isolated from them by their deranged father that had cause it, they wanted to talk to her to understand. No they listen to a man who never left home was happy to justify their fathers behaviour, lived on the moon in isolation for 4 years, had never ever experienced any part of normal life, does not understand emotions and see everything in black and white as if a child reading a super hero comic.......

Again their chances came and went, Alison was the only one who could have stop the concert just by showing compassion to her sister. But no, a woman, their sister, couldn't possibly have the answer......so they jump in and fuck it up again.

Luther causes the apocalypse, Luther! what a knob.

So frustrating to watch, not sure I can be bothered with S2.

BartonHollow · 07/04/2019 14:31

Luther was their fathers favourite, and the Team Leader In their formative years. Diego hated this but that's why they unconsciously defer to him

OP posts:
DaedricLordSlayer · 07/04/2019 14:50

They don't unconsciously defer to him though, they are very conscious, Diego even says if you're the leader you have to have a plan. Alison wouldn't defer to him but he strong armed her out, even though Diego and Klaus agreed with her they simply gave over to Luther, Even though they KNOW he's got nothing going on upstairs apart from being 'daddy's spacial super hero'

Like I said most frustrating episode, Luther is prize prick and is the one that always puts them in stupid situations with catastrophic results.

BartonHollow · 07/04/2019 20:10

For someone who didn't like it Grin

You invested Grin

And I say that in a smiley way, not a Hmm way

OP posts:
DaedricLordSlayer · 07/04/2019 20:21
