Watched the first four of this so far. Very quirky and Wes Andersonish but the music is brilliantly done, and it's very original even within the superhero genre

I was watching some interviews with the whole cast on YouTube and a lot of them seem very like their characters, actor playing Vanya is quite serious and quiet, actor playing Klaus is impulsive and a bit outrageous, actor playing No1 is nice but not too bright and that kid is at least two decades older than any 14 yr old I've ever met (and probably three decades older than my rather immature 14 yr old, who is far more like a young Klaus). The actor playing No2 is very different from his character though.

According to my 11 yr old the actor playing No5 is also Nicky in Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn. A series so banal and childish that I've never managed to watch more than 30 secs at a time, so I suppose he can play a range, even if he behaves like an adult in real life.

I love Robert Sheehan ever since misfits and he was always the slightly outrageous one in cast interviews then!

Okay so SPOILERS coming up skip if you don’t want to read...

Do you think Allison used her power on Luther? In episode 8 when she’s in the car lots of times she’s used it run through her mind - at first I thought they were all related to Claire because we had just had the flashback to her using the rumour on claire, but the last one was “I heard a rumour that you loved me”
Could be her husband but it got me thinking it could also be Luther - he’s so dedicated to her that he was mortified when she found out he slept with someone else - and his love seems to have been pretty constant
Even when they were kids he was the one who gave her the locket and she didn’t seem surprised at the time...
I don’t want to think she did as I think they’re quite sweet even though I flip back and forth with whether it’s totally inappropriate or not!

I got the feeling she'd never used or wanted to use the Rumour on Luther because she wants it to be real

When Luther asks her why she didn't use the Rumour on Patrick she said because I think I want things and then it turns bad or words to that effect

I got the impression from what she said that using the rumour is a bit like the saying 'be careful what you wish for, because you might get it', so even seemingly benign rumours could have less benign consequences. For instance, if you always use the rumour to get your child to sleep then she will never learn to self-settle (although there have been plenty of nights when the DC were younger that I would definitely have used the rumour and damn the consequences).

Buzzfeed have a 'which Umbrella Academy character are you' quiz. I got Luther. I don't want to be Luther, he's wrong almost all the time, and I'm always right. I want to be No 5 or Diego, Klaus would also be borderline acceptable.

I got Five! Lol and it doesn't surprise me because I half guessed I would when giving the answers

I was told as a teenager by a woman in her 40s that I was "the oldest person she'd met" and a stranger on Twitter once genuinely miscalculated me as being 20 years older than them when in fact I was 2 years younger!

So Five definitely fits

When Five falls through the wormhole in Episode 1 Kennedy has just been assassinated, this was a mission assigned to him and he decided not to do it, but discovering someone else had, then caused him to try and get back to his original time as he knew he'd be taken out for not doing the mission...

Just finished this and I loved it. I thought the cast were excellent. I love Robert Sheehan but had only caught glimpses of Number 5 in that annoying children's show so was very impressed at how good he was. Ellen Page was the only name I recognised and usually she blows everyone else away quite appropriate considering her character but actually I thought the rest all held their own. Can't wait for the next series. It's almost making up for Netflix cancelling Jessica Jones.

Vanya was Juno (in Juno) wasn't she? I couldn't believe Allison was Mary J Blige as I completely didn't recognise her (until I'd mis-remembered her as Macy Grey (Gray?)) Which explained why she looked so different now as she did in the 00s...

Mary J Blige was the Cha Cha the assassin, not Allison.
