Shakespeare and Hathaway. Sorry MyOtherProfile, I was being lazy!

It has a similar feel to Death in Paradise, but set in the Cotswolds, not the Caribbean.

MyOtherProfile · 17/02/2019 11:29

Ha thanks. I thought the H was the gecko and couldn't work out who the S was Grin

BackforGood · 17/02/2019 22:44

they were due to get married but where was her family when she was rushed to hospital? How did she recover from THAT so quickly? Why didn't she (or anyone else in the reveal scene) give the murder a whack with the handcuff or something ragey? So Florence had family to go and stay with in Martinique but they hadn't bothered to visit for the wedding....?

Quite. As to her trotting out of hospital, being allowed to attend work, then standing up for the whole time they did the reveal Hmm

Also, am I the only one who thinks it odd that someone worth £33million I think it was, doesn't have any staff (security, cooks, cleaners, PAs, gardeners) at all on their island mansion. Odd that no-one investigating who might have been at the house thought that odd either ??

Petalflowers · 19/02/2019 22:26

Just caught up with the latest show.

How do the people get to and from the island without any boat. Helicopter? And if a helicopter or plane, why didn’t the detective think of this?

I think Angus D has been in it before also.

The new police office is growing on me. She was a bit dippy and crazy at first, but I’m liking her now as we get to know her.

I half expected the old sRgeant to get out of the car at the end.

Do we assume that Detective Ardal had a crush on Florence. I think he had genuine tears when he and flolrence were talking leaning against a fence.

I felt that Florence’s departure was a rush story as this latest story seemed weak. As if they suddenly combined two stories into one.

Still love it though!

MyOtherProfile · 19/02/2019 22:54

I don't think he had a crush on her. I think he was very fond of her and empathised with her situation in losing a spouse / almost spouse. I got the impression he felt a little paternal towards her.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 19/02/2019 23:09

Harrison's water taxi as was you know explained in you know the story. Sorry i just don't get tje helicopter from. The first line from the in house motivater/psycholgist was "but we knew harrison we used his water taxi" not only does that explain how they knew harrison/tiana but alao answers your question about how they got to the island without a boat. Amd why the answer clearly isnf helicopter and why the dectective didn't think of helicopter because he'd been told how tje people got to the island so he didnt need to think ohh theres a helicopter. He knew there wasn't.

Or do you mean generally? Theres a small airport, that we've for instance seen the all three dectectives arrive too, and humphry depart from. But that would mean the littler islamd also having some sorf of aircraft.

Do we assume that Detective Ardal had a crush on Florence. I think he had genuine tears when he and flolrence were talking leaning against a fence*

You do know a bloke can feel affection for a woman without having a crush on her don't you?? Especially one ypung enough to be his daughter. They work coosely together, its always been a little "family". The story line with Jack especially is he feels very perternal towards his team

MyOtherProfile · 20/02/2019 06:21

I think it's easy to miss a single line of dialogue. I hadn't heard the mention of the water taxi either. So I'm glad Petalflowers asked.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 20/02/2019 06:29

What you hadn't heard mention of the water taxi tyat was repeated numerous times during both episodes???

In fact was rather pivoital to the first part of the episode given that the person that owned and drove the water taxi was the murderer

FinallyHere · 20/02/2019 06:51

akways exactly the same.

It worked for Star Trek, not sure why it wouldn't be acceptable for any other series...

Petalflowers · 20/02/2019 07:17

Sorry, forgot about the water taxi. They were making a big thing about not having a boat, and how did Frances (.?) get back to the mainline, without a boat. That’s what I was thinking off.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 20/02/2019 08:07

Oh i see you missed the summing up petal this too was explained and formed a substancal part of the summing up.

Because she was trapped in the empty werehouse which now had a dead man an injured police sargent two police officers and a dectective and the police commisioner she had no escape. But the team provided her with one when they ordered a boat of their own while captian went to find them to tell them the boat was there she snuck under some tarpaline in the boat and hid until they reached rosalie island when they reached rosalie island the captian showed the team up to the house the main way but because she lived/spent so much time there she knew a short cut so snuck out from tje boat and legged it on the short cut and arrived just before she arroved on the bealcony to say we have company

So again he didn't need to think of a helicopter because he already had the answer

MyOtherProfile · 20/02/2019 08:08

NaughtToThreeSadOnions Nope but then I don't sit glued to the screen soaking up every word of dialogue. I'm just doing the crossword in the paper and responding to the kids / dh at the same time. One of the reasons I like this thread is because people can ask all kinds of questions about the programme if they miss something or want to discuss something and get nice gentle answers. Usually.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 20/02/2019 08:15

Good for you. otherprofile and actally neither do i im normally on mumsnet

But thats why you miss the plot lines then if your watching tv and you actally want to know whats going on watch it. Its like going im not really paying sttention to the conversation im to busy doing my crossword.

If you do that dont come on mumsnet makong out there was a hole in the plot line when it was actally explained in the story thete was no hole in yhe plotline it was mentioned several times its you not paying attention

MyOtherProfile · 20/02/2019 08:56

It wasn't me that asked! I was just following someone else's query. So I'm not exactly saying there's a hole in the plotline. As I said this is usually a nice gentle place where people do ask questions or discuss things they missed. I quite enjoy that.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 20/02/2019 09:02

No i know it wasnt you that asked. In fact the oerson tyat asked has actally gone oh yes your right i simply forgot but it was you who chose to go i didnt hear a rather key part of the story that was mentioned several times in.the story.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 20/02/2019 09:03

Mumsnet a nice gentle place pahahahaha

I think your confusing it with some other forum

MyOtherProfile · 20/02/2019 09:20

I didn't say mn was a nice gentle place. Usually this thread is, however.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 20/02/2019 13:11

This tread started with the comment death n paradise is shit .....ohhh nice and gentle if thats your version of nice and gentle i'd hate to see what you call harsh and oppinionated

I was being sarcastic nothing like being oppinionated

Some one posts on mumsnet in a mumsnet style and you chose to go i want this one thread to be nice and gentle despite the fact the tread was started to slag the programme off not to be nice and gentle as you put it.

You want something nice and gentle your ob the wrong forum

SinisterBumFacedCat · 20/02/2019 13:19

Of all the threads to kick off, I wouldn’t have suspected this one to! Grin

MyOtherProfile · 20/02/2019 14:00

People may make negative comments about the programme but until recently not about each other!

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 20/02/2019 14:07

I wasnt being nasty to any one you for some odd bloody reason have taken it personally

It was a sarcastic comment

The person it was too hasnt taken it personally

I actally dont knoe what the hell your problem is

MyOtherProfile · 20/02/2019 14:10

Nice.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 20/02/2019 14:11

Nicw what?

You started pickimg in me

So wgat is your problen.

I made a sarcastic comment

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 20/02/2019 14:43

I did think that using a water taxi constantly was a bit weird to be honest. It said they had one that was away being fixed, but it sounded like they used the taxi loads as well anyway?

mogtheexcellent · 20/02/2019 15:54

Crikey this thread turned a bit. I think in depth discussion of the storylines may be best left to the Baptiste thread where every single thing could point you in the right direction! As far as I am aware Death in paradise is not really supposed to make much sense.

Anyhow Just popping on to say the new series of Shakespeare & Hathaway starts Monday afternoon. For those of us (ie all) that like their detective dramas light and fluffy with nice background scenery.
