😂 I admit it made the search for this thread quite difficult 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/02/2019 21:20

I didn’t trust her bf /fiancé

Roll on next week

CocoLoco87 · 09/02/2019 21:51

I don't trust Patrice either but I don't think it helps that the actor doesn't seem very natural. So he generally seems a bit shifty even when he's being 'normal'.

Hepzibar · 09/02/2019 22:53

No idea why I called in Murder instead of Death.

Never watched it until I posted this thread last week.

I'll ask for it to be changed

I haven’t watched for ages then, typically, the one I watch is ‘to be continued......’ so now I have to watch the next one.

DorothyZbornak · 10/02/2019 18:52

I thought there was something 'off' about Patrice the first week he appeared. I said it to DH who told me I was being paranoid. Hmmm, we'll see on Thursday who's paranoid .....

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 10/02/2019 18:56

Is it STILL going? I haven't seen it with Ardal O'Hanlan at all, and I probably won't be rushing to either. He's not really an actor, I mean he was great in Father Ted but I suspect that's the only character he can play with any conviction.

OublietteBravo · 10/02/2019 19:01

My teenage DC (13 & 14) love it. I figure there are far worse things they could be watching.

3out · 10/02/2019 19:08

There’s not much that can be classed family viewing these days (or so it feels). That’s the nice thing about Death in Paradise. Also, even if a prog has lots to criticise, that becomes a bit of fun too - all the family taking the mickey out of the predictability etc.

DorothyZbornak · 10/02/2019 19:09

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar, it's basically 'Dougal goes Caribbean'

Hepzibar · 10/02/2019 19:10

Americano he does appear to be the same character.

It's all so totally implausible, never watched it before last week (hence my post) but tuned in again this week to check I wasn't mistaken. I suppose I'll have watch next week as its continued

My money's on the mother

OP posts:
BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 10/02/2019 19:13

Really? How does Dougal in the Caribbean manage to solve a crime? He is a character of very little brain.

Holidayshopping · 10/02/2019 19:14

I thought that Patrice was a baddun when they got engaged so quickly Wink.

DorothyZbornak · 10/02/2019 19:16

@Hepzibar, you could be right there (Ted ;)) I thought it was strange that she was brought into the storyline, but nothing more came of it.

SmellsLikeAdultSpirit · 10/02/2019 19:16

Ardal O'Hanlan can't act. He can only stand a look gormless and he was brilliant at it in Father Ted
They have failed badly with this one. He really isn't the geeky genius
Florence getting shot has guaranteed me watching next week though

NaToth · 10/02/2019 19:44

Love it for the theme and the old Ska tracks on the soundtracks.

DecumusScotti · 10/02/2019 20:16

I quite like Ardal. He’s got a sort of Irish Columbo thing going on.

The thing with Patrice is going to be a red herring, I think, and have an innocentish explanation like he’s being blackmailed or something. No way will that wedding be cancelled.

I do miss Richard though. Anyone else reading the books?

3out · 10/02/2019 21:23

Totally agree with the columbo thing!

Do hope you’re right about the wedding/her not being dead.

Petalflowers · 10/02/2019 22:01

Jsut caught up with this week’s programme,

How can DIp finish with a To Be continued...!

The last guy was my favourite. Yes it's formulaic but it doesn't pretend to be cutting edge serious crime the way Silent Witness does. It knows it's light hearted switch your brain off T V. Amazed it took them so long to sort out the phone thing. I presumed the friend did it and altered her phone initially. The birth mother has to fit in somewhere.

3out · 10/02/2019 22:15

Yeah, I thought the same. Like you say, it’s not Silent Witness, but the phone thing was a bit clumsy.

tinkletilt · 10/02/2019 22:23

We call it celebrity death island, and spend most of each episode trying to place the actors. Agree ardal is the weakest lead, but love the location, perfect viewing at this time of year

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 10/02/2019 22:45

Isn't it pretty easy to tell whodunnit? I usually found that the most recognisable single-episode actor was the one who did it (unless he/she was an early suspect, in that case the villain was the second most famous).

TheClitterati · 10/02/2019 22:48

It's great. The plot is exactly the same every week. Apart from the double episode.

It's an important part of what gets me through the dreary months of January and February. It's banal predictable and I love it.

Akire · 10/02/2019 22:58

Love the fact no other police on 24h shift. So if there’s a murder and your having a baby or getting married you have to leave immediately. However if you do arrest someone it’s ok leave them locked up over night all by themselves.

If I was the chief police bloke who hasto wear a suit all the time I’d make sure all officers looked Decent.

Is it just me thinks down chemistry between him and Florence ?
