The Greatest Dancer

Finally watching episode 1 of this. What I don't understand is, do the contestants know they are on a stage and that the mirrors might open? I thought they didn't know, but none of them seem shocked that there's an audience there when they open

I think Dane Bates should have got through over KLA.

James and Oliver made some mistakes and their choreography was a bit messy.

i think KLA should have gone out, but are getting the little kid vote

We voted for H&E, J&O and KLA. So glad they all got through. I agree J&O are not the best but I like them.

Definitely right that Frobacks went home. Too samey.

I was disappointed with most of the dances today, I didn't think they were as good as previous weeks. I like watching the dances but that is probably only about 10% of the show and the rest is padded out with faffing and everyone saying they're proud or committed every 20 seconds. yawn.

I agree and I worry that they might win because of it. They're good but not the best in the show.

I can't imagine Harry and Eleiyah not winning, I think they are amazing but I think the Dr Who one was best.

KLA were better last week and the Les mis one for James and Oliver was best.

I think Ellie does really well considering she is a lone dancer, must be very hard.

I like this Dane Bates Collective Dance better because it didn't highlight the same dancer.

I thought the two boys and KLA would go. I'm glad the boys are there, if they fix the choreography and synchronise they will have made the most improvement.

H&E for the win.

No one is saying that they aren't. However, this is a TV competition called "the greatest dancer". Criticism is part of the deal.

The thing is the general public don't appreciate just dance, hence ballet dancers never getting voted as the best.
They like the tricks and flicks but don't always appreciate the technical ability.
That's why I like Harry and Elieyah best. They do dance and they extend through their feet right through to their big toe, whereas Frobacks for example dont.
A ballet dancer could quite possibly do what Frobacks do but Frobacks cannot do ballet. Obviously I'm assuming they cant, but looking at their landings in pretty sure they cant.

I suppose i should have known but i find it quite tedious how formulaic all these programmes are - literally the scripts are exactly the same : the public have voted and the act who are staying ...in no particular order are......long pause (camera pans round all contestants looking worried) .... (acts name) We mostly watch on catch up then you can fast forward to the actual dancing and watch the whole thkng in about 20 min.

Am I being overly pedantic to have some concerns about the title 'The Greatest Dancer' (singular)? Does that mean that at some point Harry and Elieyah will be slugging it out against each other and there will be fisticuffs amongst KLA?

Oti is a joy to watch. She's just so happy!

I also feel like I haven't been paying much attention to the evolution of dance and I've been surprised how close it has become to a gymnastics floor exercise for many dancers.

I'm not sure what I was anticipating. Perhaps participants that were a bit more like Darcey Bussell doing contemporary dance with some elegant balletic lines retained.
