A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the Kdrama-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, but the more seriously addicted have other sources, including dramabus. It sounds very tough for young people, the Hell Joseon that is occasionally mentioned in dramas.

bettys it is tough but at the same time, Koreans do tend to be very pessimistic and they definitely think that it’s way worse in Korea than in any other country, they definitely think that we just walk into great jobs in the west or that we can all just work as artists or whatever without there being any negative consequences for us. There is more pressure but sometimes it would be cool to see people step away from that pressure and just say ‘I’m done with this’ but it seems to be basically impossible for them for whatever reason. It can be frustrating to watch.

I am loving Because this is my first life. So long as it doesn’t go off on a wild tangent or “go makjang”, I have a feeling it may join my top 5.

It’s in my top 10, probably I keep hoping to find more dramas like it but haven’t come across any yet

I’m reflecting on my recent dine & dash approach,abandoning series part way through (as I may resume later) vs Betty’s tactic of skipping the stodgy main (the saggy middle) and going straight to dessert.

I can't believe how fast you two can get through your dramas.... I'm still on Pinnochio.... I watch about 2 - 4 eps a night... got the last two tonight!

I'm in that .... v. excited that i get to see how it ends... but gutted it's finishing!I love being absolutely absorbed in a storyline and caring for the destiny of the characters!

Need to finish K2 but the only character I'm liking so far is Grrrr JCW!

Want to watch Hymn of Death (Toasty LJS) but I think it's just going to be too grim and I can't take drama with no light and fun (thus the reason for not watching any "normal" telly at the moment!!!)

Re watching Healer on in the background and I'm marvelling at how Grrr JCW can change from Grrr Healer to Inept Park Bong Su!

Bea I will watch Hymn of Death this weekend & let you know! I have been waiting for an uninterrupted 3 hours to binge it. There are times when even though you know the ending is sad it is cathartic in an ok way. Scarlwt Heart Ryeo was sad but still worth watching iykwim

Kimchee ep is luvverly as is the scene on the harbour wall ie "Do You need to know more?" The script is great

Anyone know what the significance is of being a 3rd generation chaebol? Is it that your family’s wealth is established/secured and you are past the founder generations, so moving into being ‘old money’ rather than ‘nouveau riche’?
