i prefer this year to last year. last year was terrible for favouritism.

one thing i don't get is the whole the judges vote being tied.
so 2 vote for one person and 1 for another. how is that a tie?

I seem to remember Len's head-judge casting-vote face including a rueful eyebrow raise as well. I don't mind Shirley's face but Len's was better.

I think it was interesting that Craig openly defied the DO rule by saying he was saving the better dancer, not the dancer who did better in that specific routine. I do think DJJ had further to go than Graeme, who has definitely reached his peak and is now just the comedy contestant.

Re DJJ thanking the singers and musicians, I'm sure others quite often thank them too. And re the mini interviews, my TV recording cut off before the end of the show so I didn't see the broadcast ones, but I watched a clip of it on Twitter, posted by the Strictly account, with a few of the other couples saying positive things about him. One of them was Charles saying he was sad that his bromance had gone. I wonder if the Beeb deliberately edited the broadcast version to give a different impression?

Overall, I'm pissed off DJJ has gone. I'd far rather watch him than any more comedy/galumphing Graeme routines, much as I like Oti.

Samcro YES. I never get that.... if it’s 2 to one. It’s not a tie. That question has been on my mind for ever.

I’m quite enjoying this year, there’s some great dancing which is mostly what I care about. And there are enough celebs enjoying themselves too, I like it when they love to dance. The absolute worst year for me was the one with Peter Andre and Jamelia, the whole season felt like one big whinge. There’s nobody this year that I strongly dislike (except Shirley, she has to go) and quite a few that I enjoy.

If Shirley's vote creates a tie it should go to the viewers' vote. The judges marks already count for 50% of the decision, they should put more power in the viewers' hands.

I think the point of the "tie-break" judge is if Shirley had voted for Danny it would have been 2-2 and Danny would have stayed as that's who she voted for.

I'm not much enjoying this year either.

I might write to SCD to request the following:

1. New judges to replace Bruno, Darcey and Shirley. Craig to be head judge, bring back Arlene, perhaps Anton and Erin as other two judges.

1. Get rid of cheesy 'back story' videos. No-one wants to see the celeb go back to their primary school etc.

1. Get rid of pointless themes with tacky props for the dances. A foxtrot is a foxtrot is a foxtrot - it doesn't need to have an elaborate set-up to make it work. Just dance the dance!

1. Invest in better singers. Current ones are appalling and probably wouldn't get past a first audition for the X Factor.

1. Get rid of Tess. She seems to have an inflated sense of her own importance now and interrupts the judges left, right and centre.

Not sure about Claudia, think she was better suited to ITT but then we wouldn't have the glorious Zoe Ball - who is all the better for having once been a contestant so understands what the celebs are going through.

1. Find someone else to do interviews on ITT as Gethin Jones is woeful.

Anyway, I'm sure they'd be delighted to take advice from someone like me who has no personal experience of dancing or television

I looked up that series, Black, because I couldn't remember who else was on it, and the scoring overall was so much lower than it is now.

Beyond I like the cheesey little back stories!

Dulra I agree with everything you say- the 'whacky' bits to camera are embarrassing, and the flat shoe/'hilarious' costume issue is a very real one. Even on 'normal' dances, the costumes for Latin are simply awful.

Samcro & Minimammoth I think the way they explain the tied scores is the problem. As I understand it - 4 Judges = 4 votes therefore if the score is 2-1 and Head Judge votes for the contestant who has 1 vote the score is tied at 2-2 so the HJ vote is a casting vote worth 2 in that instance making the score 2-3, if the HJ votes for the contestant who has 2 votes then it is 3-1. If the vote is 3-0 no need for the HJ to vote because their vote won't make any difference.

I'm not sure if that makes it any clearer.

I agree sometimes the show IS OTT now. The pros dance yesterday was an example of a lost opportunity; it was good that they showed the women's contribution to the wars. BUT there was room for proper 40s ( jive) and 1914 style old time dances, instead we have the same old, same old contempowaft stuff AGAIN AAAAH!!!!

Ah cassandra in that case they do need to say that head judge is worth 2 votes, and remind us often.
And someone does need to give feedback to the judges on ‘oh my goodness’ and ‘ I applaud you’ and anything Bruno says put him in a straight jacket please.

I have just rewatched the results show. Amy was stroking Danny's arm quite a bit - unlikely to do that if she didn't really like him. Her hugging him looked totally genuine as did her tears of sadness that their dancing had come to an end.

Danny was smiling throughout his last dance. Again a smile that looked totally genuine. If he had been angry I am pretty sure that would have showed even if only slightly. Graeme hugged him as did Oti, Aliaz and Ashley. I couldn't see if any of the others did because the camera then panned away.

I think all the negativity about Danny is utter bullocks

Just catching up, I didn’t see the live show & had a rhubarb gin induced hangover yesterday🤢 I really like Swanny but disappointed that DJJ went I’m not really enjoying this series, yy the costumes/music & the bloody faffing & themes are really not helping also really tired of the outrageous overmarking.

1. get rid of Halloween week

2. get rid of any sets or props on the floor, you come on, you do your dance, no messing, off, no making pizza, getting hair cut or any other bollocks

All three of the other judges have to disagree with Shirley for her vote to lose - that's always seemed unfair and ludicrous to me.

The reason they probably focussed on the RAF this year is that is their 100 year anniversary too. They should have mentioned it.

Was it last year that Debbie and Gio had something really silly for a Tango, like a bad cover of Black Eyed Peas? It really irked me and I couldn’t concentrate on the dance.

There have been so many over the years I've lost count, did Jake Wood have the Greek song for his Tango or his Paso? Either way it was wrong !
