Hmm right wing press ! Wonder if it had been printed in the Guardian if opinions would be different.

Chipstick10 · 11/11/2018 22:08

Trying so glad someone else feels the same way about Stacey. Thought I was alone on this thread because they all adore her, she gives me rage. She’s as fake as hell. She sounds like a Catherine Tate character. She makes absolutely everything about her. She will win I’ve no doubt. I’m so bored of this series. It’s tired and desperate and the judges apart from Craig need replacing. As do Tess and Claudia. And I’m glad Danny. Something about him.

CS12345 · 11/11/2018 22:10

I also think Graeme is swooning over Oti. Me seems mesmerised by her!

Glad Danny has gone. His dancing made me cringe, with its weird ballet/stiff limbs combo.

ChoccyJules · 11/11/2018 22:16

So, Blackpool. Kate has to be favourite to go out? Or will her support mean another of the weaker dancers (Lauren and Graeme) go instead?

Chipstick10 · 11/11/2018 22:16

It seems Lauren and Kate have fan bases

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 11/11/2018 22:22

Sad the thread turned a bit sour this week. DJJ has certainly divided opinion. But in the end there will only ever be one winner and it wasn’t going to be either of the two in the DO this week.

Onwards to Blackpool, people!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 11/11/2018 22:34

With Seann and DJJ gone, I wonder who The Sun will target next? It's as if they're steering the votes
Well that’s ok, it’s when the judges buy in to it that it becomes a problem and it feels like that’s what is happening. Yes Shirley, I do mean you. I don’t normally get too worked up about these things but I’ve always liked Strictly, over other ‘vote’ shows, because it felt like it had integrity. At least it did when Len was on it. I don’t remember them ever making a meal of it, or doing a ‘suspense’ vote, or even getting it badly wrong back then. But since Shirley, and her complete inability to disguise her favouritism or ignore public opinion and just vote on the dancing ability, I’m thinking, tonight, I’m done with this now. Taxi for Shirley (and Tess can hitch a lift too). If the accusations of bullying are true (and I hadn’t even heard/read them til DH told me cos I don’t watch/read trash/tabloid tv/media) then the BBC have a responsibility to not just the professional dancer in question, but also the paying public, to do something about it and make a statement. If it isn’t true then they should make it very clear it’s bull. This manipulation via judges is not on. I do not believe, in the absence of this past weeks media stories, that Danny would have been A. bottom of the public voting and B. voted off by the judges. Might as well get Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh on the judging panel and be done with it.

Ontheboardwalk · 11/11/2018 22:38

I don’t agree with the head judge vote. If there’s a tie then it should go to deadlock. It’s the fairest way for the people voting

Clawdy · 11/11/2018 22:46

And if we didn't have the head judge deciding vote, we wouldn't have to see Shirley 's irritating simper each time they mention it.

Ontheboardwalk · 11/11/2018 22:51

Clawdy true

mydogisthebest · 11/11/2018 22:54

Really annoyed that Danny has gone. He should not even have been at the bottom of the leader board when he was better than Graeme and Joe. The judges should be ashamed.

I thought Danny gave a lovely goodbye and it was nice to see him thank the singers and musicians as usually no one bothers. I thought him and Amy looked happy and comfortable together. She had her arm round him and hugged him. Pretty sure she would not have done that if the bullying accusations were true. She also seemed very upset at going when surely she would have been relieved?

Also a poster said he didn't mention the other celebs. Well I don't really remember anyone leaving mentioning the others in the final speech but I guess people always want to twist the truth

CassandraCross · 11/11/2018 23:08

Judas I think there were one or maybe two controversial Head Judge 'saves' by Len but I don't think he was ever swayed by the public or stories in the press he voted for who in his opinion danced better and he was always happy to justify his choice. Although there were always hints that Kevin was Len's favourite.

With DJJ at the bottom of the leader board it would have taken a significant public vote to save him from the Dance Off, he got it last week but not this so it would seem that the controversy this week has had an effect.

I don't know if I like the deadlock idea or not, if you just throw it back to the public vote to decide it seems a bit of a waste of time you might as well just have eliminated the couple with the least amount of votes overall and not bothered with a Dance Off.

Encyclo · 11/11/2018 23:55

And if we didn't have the head judge deciding vote, we wouldn't have to see Shirley 's irritating simper each time they mention it.

Oh God this. I find myself getting ready for it now. I can’t remember what Len’s reaction was, but it certainly wasn’t that.

LeslieKnopefan · 12/11/2018 01:03

The stories started in the Mirror then repeated elsewhere.

Miscible · 12/11/2018 01:34

He was in a shit comedy more than two decades ago.

You're massively out of date, Cold. He's still in Red Dwarf, which is rightly critically acclaimed, and also in Death in Paradise, amongst others.

Miscible · 12/11/2018 01:45

I also wonder who the next press victim will be?

Charles probably needs to start worrying. After all, in the eyes of the Sun and the Mail he's committed two unforgivable crimes - being on the BBC, and not being white.

ilovesooty · 12/11/2018 02:09

Len used to incline his head slightly with a little smile.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 12/11/2018 06:49

If the accusations of bullying are true (and I hadn’t even heard/read them til DH told me cos I don’t watch/read trash/tabloid tv/media)

Ooh, get you! BBC not good enough for you, is it? Grin

MyMumDimensionJumps · 12/11/2018 06:52

I agree about the judging. I feel the judges have purposefully voted certain people low, so that public votes don't count. It's all very engineered and really disappointing. I'm really starting to lose interest in this show because of it. I don't want it to turn in to this Luvvie fake-fest where it is all fake compliments and there is clear favouritism everywhere (which is kind of like bullying in itself). That's really hard to watch.

If DJJ was such a dick, why has he worked in a sitcom for 30 years and another show for at least 10, without any other mention of bullying or bad behaviour? He has been an actor for years and he seems quite well regarded among his co-stars.

Evertrhing judas has said

AND I would add to that, going back to "proper" dancing and less of this "oooh - look what I've found in the dressing up box - what can we make them do with this? rubbish!

AND back to the results show the same night and no more of this "Yesterday/tomorrow" crap that fools no-one (though I think it food one person - wasn't there someone upthread?)

Not sure about deadlock as Boardwalk suggests, because of the time factor, but we do need a decent head judge (I miss Len and also Arlene, sooo much on this show)

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/11/2018 07:12

*fooled not food

CurbsideProphet · 12/11/2018 07:32

This series is falling very flat for me. Too much faffing about with themes and props and very inconsistent marking, which is skewing the leader board. Plus I don't remember there previously being so much distraction from the dancing?

Minimammoth · 12/11/2018 07:42

I am not enjoying this series so much, the dances are not great, the samba costumes are ghaaaaastly darling, and the shrieking makes my ears bleed. Judges are becoming characatures. Couples choice meh.

covetingthepreciousthings · 12/11/2018 07:42

Before all the DJJ talk there were comments about the costumes, just want to agree with whoever was questioning whether the budget has dwindled. I remember some of the costumes before being breathtakingly beautiful, but they seem a bit lacklustre this year.

Although Lubas dress was stunning for the solo dance she did with Anton last night, wonder if it was from her own collection?
