Turned off after half hour, was just too tired to concentrate with it really being ten o'clock.

Visually it was impressive though. Main female's voice quite grating.

nuttynutjob · 29/10/2018 23:52

I loved it. I

I have seen an old movie version Little Drummer Girl.

nuttynutjob · 29/10/2018 23:56

Flask,

As a teenager, I read a lot of Mills and Boon that was written during the 70s and 80s- there seems to be a theme of men buying women dresses.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/10/2018 15:21

On planner. What is it about

thenightsky · 30/10/2018 17:52

Terrorism in the 70s.

Haha, my main complaint was that the main Israeli guy's voice was really annoying and sounded fake!

I liked that it was complex, with lots of different "how comes" to be revealed.

What I didn't get was why Charlie went off with Peter/Jose/Action Man when he was dull, aloof and she'd only just met him. If it was his job to lure her, then of course he was successful, but I don't understand how; he did little to try and reel her in apart from buy her a very nippley dress.
Also, why did they go to the Acropolis, rather than straight to wherever?

Flaskfan · 31/10/2018 12:17

Glassouijan, he was tall, dark, handsome and showed how dominant he was by buying her a dress. That's all the persuasion a woman needs, surely?

GlassOuijan · 31/10/2018 12:23

Well yes, exactly Flask... it's a bit insulting really, isn't it?

Flaskfan · 31/10/2018 12:37

To be fair though, he give her a private view of th acropolis(ooh, er), which is more than Mr flask.has ever given meSmile

LadyPeterWimsey · 04/11/2018 22:13

Did it make more sense to anyone after this week's episode? Or is it more confusing than ever?

VillanellesHairPin · 04/11/2018 22:19

I get that it will build slowly but you've got to at least be interested in what will happen in order to keep reading/tuning in. I'm finding Alexander skarsgaard's character and Charlie intensely irritating! And no amount of 70s style is making me care about any of tbh. And I have read and watched Le Carre before.

Clawdy · 04/11/2018 22:20

I found it confusing again. Charlie is very irritating. No likeable characters. Not sure I want to keep on watching really.

BonfiresOfInsanity · 04/11/2018 22:25

Alex Skarsgard wouldn’t have had to buy me a dress to get to drive off with him. 😄. I am enjoying the slow build and will keep watching.

VenusInSpurs · 04/11/2018 22:28

I think they have infiltrated BBC news. The newsreader was wearing a dress clearly chosen by Michel . Bold blue, fabric buttons, high neck, puffy sleeves. Should I say something?

LadyPeterWimsey · 04/11/2018 22:39

Ah, but was the newsreader wearing a bra?

The lack of supportive underwear under all those primary colours tonight was making me feel queasy.

PrincessScarlett · 04/11/2018 23:03

Bonfires, definitely agree it is a slow builder. Few jigsaw pieces falling into place episode by episode. I'm enjoying it, mainly because I like looking at Alex Skarsgard!

So basically Charlie has been recruited to play the part of the blonde girl at the beginning of the first episode who delivered the bomb. I'm amazed at the lengths they went to to recruit Charlie and that she accepted what is going to be an incredibly dangerous job with people she can't trust. Guessing there might be some double double agent or twists to be revealed.

Kinraddie · 04/11/2018 23:03

I'm so confused. So did Charlie start a relationship with terrorist Salim in London? Why is Joseph/michel pretending to be Salim? Does Charlie know she's working for Mossad?

IcedPurple · 04/11/2018 23:08

"Slow build" is one thing, but this is just ponderous. I can't bring myself to care for any of the characters and not sure if even the gorgeous Alex Skarsgard can tempt me back next week.

Will be interesting to see the viewing figures. The promotion was pretty low key, which leads me to suspect the Beeb knew it would be a flop.

PrincessScarlett · 04/11/2018 23:40

Kinradie, I think the Charlie/Salim relationship in London is her becoming her part and believing the story Jose/Michel is feeding her. So she's not actually sleeping with the real Salim.

PrincessScarlett · 04/11/2018 23:42

I'm guessing Charlie and fake Salim (aka Jose/Michel) are going to infiltrate the terrorist cell by pretending to be real Salim and the blonde girl real Salim is sleeping with.

BitOfFun · 05/11/2018 00:22

How is Scandinavian Skaarsgard going to pass as a Palestinian.

BagelGoesWalking · 05/11/2018 03:33

How is an Israeli (Skarsgard) and of East European heritage, going to pass as an Arab? They would know in a minute and vice versa.

BonfiresOfInsanity · 05/11/2018 06:07

He isn’t, she’s going on her own and he’s helping her build a ‘realistic’ back story. At least that’s how I understand it,

troodiedoo · 05/11/2018 06:16

Didn't watch but love these posts Grin

Whyiseveryonesoangry · 05/11/2018 06:27

We watched the first episode and found it very slow, but wanted to give it a chance so watched last night. We switched off after half an hour. So so slow.
I think it could be really good story line, but would need to be much faster paced to hold my interest.
