Anyone going to be watching the new Doctor Who now it is a woman?
Love Jodie as an actress. Never been fussed on the doctor before!!

And then they all lived happily ever after and all the awkward stuff got forgotten

The purple stuff in the thing that looked like a lantern was DNA and the essence of the people the demons were honouring yet the Dr mucks about with some of it in a test tube and a bunsen burner - and that's just fine.

And why out of the millions of people who die alone were they attending at Prem's (?) brother's death?

DappledThings · 14/11/2018 09:23

Piggywaspushed Exactly this. It was ludicrous. Actress was about 30 years too young.

captainpantbeard · 14/11/2018 13:29

I love a grump (see Jessica Jones) but Tom Baker wasn't grumpy and he was wonderful. I think JW is brilliant, big thumbs up.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 18/11/2018 21:19

I liked tonight's better, what did other people think? I still think the death toll is pretty high though, and she didn't need all three companions with her.

SmallDalek · 18/11/2018 21:29

I was really bored tonight. And whoever auditioned Tosin Cole needs to be removed from casting. The guy is more wooden than a tree. Still a bit preachy with an Amazon Warehouse apocalypse warning when those in charge of technology go rogue. Good idea but not well executed or entertaining imo. Am still so so disappointed in this series, especially the piss poor writing.

rosy71 · 18/11/2018 21:34

We really enjoyed tonight's. Loved the fez and reference to the wasp. We saw lots if the tardis too - I know some people have commented on the lack of it.

This series has been really good. Definitely doctor who. Much more so than the more recent series.

WhirlwindHugs · 18/11/2018 21:46

I enjoyed tonight, I was very happy with the way the plot resolved/general level of peril.

The character development in the india episode was clearly way better though, despite the poor resolution at the end.

I wonder if they'd do well to get the Dr who writes to write more often as a team bring out the best parts of each other...

SoupDragon · 18/11/2018 22:05

Better than previous weeks. Although the effects in the conveyor sequence were absolutely shocking.

Bradley Walsh is 58. Why is he dressed as a 78 year old?

KissingInTheRain · 18/11/2018 22:06

I thought it was shite. Killer bubble wrap...

I don’t think the cast works, including JW’s Doctor, sadly (she’s a wonderful actor and could make the role great but hasn’t given it enough oomph, IMO.) And the writing and plotting is weak as well.

It really needs some tension and frights in it. It’s all a bit formless and tepid at the moment.

Getting rid of the clunky social messaging would be a good start.

I also wish they’d go back to a continuing story format.

I wish she'd put the screwdriver away for a bit.

TheDogAteMySock · 18/11/2018 22:14

Another week I sat through it wondering why I bothered. I'm watching the David Tenants' doctor on Netflix and it's gripping. This is rubbish. Although my 10 year old said she enjoyed it, so perhaps it is just targeted at a younger audience?

sushisuperstar · 18/11/2018 22:17

@TheDogAteMySock nothing comes close to David Tennant's stint. It was bloody fantastic.

TheDogAteMySock · 18/11/2018 22:18

Also why on earth does she have to'adopt the stance' every time she uses her sonic rabbit? Winds me up each and every time!

TheDogAteMySock · 18/11/2018 22:20

Sushi don't even blink.Grin

CrookedMe · 18/11/2018 22:22

This is the first episode of DW I've ever watched at DD8's request, and I'm underwhelmed. Deadly bubble wrap? The thing that looks like a spirit level that magically answers every question they might have?

I knew I wasn't missing anything all those bastard years! What a pile of steaming gibberish!

LassWiADelicateAir · 18/11/2018 22:54

Yaz continues in her mission to be completely pointless and charisma free.

LoniceraJaponica · 19/11/2018 00:01

"I miss Murray Gold, complex storylines,"

I am enjoying this series far more than recent ones. I don't miss the complex story lines. They were overly complicated and try too hard. I just lost interest in watching Dr Who.

I love that this series has stories that carry a message and are more like the Dr Who stories that I used to watch as a child.

joinedjustfordw · 19/11/2018 00:28

CrookedMe I assure you this series of the show has been the worst yet. Go and watch a few from the Tennant era and you'd be gobsmacked. It was (once) truly worth the hype, I promise.

Anyways, as a side note, kerblam was actually good! The best one since Woman Who Fell to Earth. As others have said, the first one yet to finally actually feel like an episode of Doctor Who!

SleepingStandingUp · 19/11/2018 00:51

Yup tonight much better. Creepy robots. Some actual peril. Bit worried about that bubble wrap left in the Tardis mind...

DoctorTwo · 19/11/2018 06:46

I enjoyed last night's episode, imo the best of the series so far. The fez was a really lovely touch which gave me a good chuckle.

Gladys123 · 19/11/2018 07:05

Killer bubble wrap? I mean ...... I know this is a series for kids but come on! Also, this doctor is fond of telling other people off for violence and killing and then does exactly that herself. She didn't have to blow the robots up straight away. But she did, killing the janitor in the process. Why?!

SoupDragon · 19/11/2018 07:11

Killer bubble wrap was awesome! DD says she's never popping bubble wrap again 😂

SoupDragon · 19/11/2018 07:15

To be fair, the janitor was planning on blowing up thousands of people.

SleepingStandingUp · 19/11/2018 11:30

And he had chance to escape. But then he'd have just plotted again. Down with the janitor!!!!
