I so need a thread where I can talk about this drama and what happened. It was so good. I think the drama and the actors deserve an award.

I couldn't understand why Eve wouldn't get worried when she couldn't get through to Niko by 'phone, bearing in mind what she did to Anna's husband. Oksana knew where Eve lived so could have easily gone back and bumped him off but it didn't seem to occur to her.

Also, what was on the piece of paper under the cell door?

EvilRingahBitch · 01/10/2018 12:46

I’ve just learned something excellent which I need to share. The author of the original Codename Villanelle books started his thriller-writing career as a ghost writer for … Stella Rimmington. So presumably knows her quite well. Gives me a whole new perspective on the Fiona Shaw character.

Chuggachuggatoottoot · 01/10/2018 14:03

The piece of paper under the door, didn't it say 'Eve Polaski'?

The Konstantin could have been lots of things. Testing her. Maybe because she'd found out stuff about him they decided he was a liability and needed to be replaced. Maybe they just like a change of personnel once in a while to keep things fresh.

Did he make any fuck ups? Maybe because the team exercise in the UK didn't go so well. Was that his idea?

captainpantbeard · 01/10/2018 20:42

Konstantin said that they wanted rid of him as he was springing her from prison against their wishes. It doesn’t make sense because they now have her out of prison going for him. It hurts my brain a bit.

@captainpantbeard, I thought he said they wanted to kill him as he was helping the British get Nadia out of the prison. I presume avoad asked for his help and he had to pretend to go along with it and so the Twelve thought he had worked against them.

Togaandsandals · 03/10/2018 22:39

Typo, avoad was meant to be Vlad.

ladyflower23 · 04/10/2018 07:58

I thought Vlad wanted him dead because Eve told him about Kenny's mum letting him take the blame for something Konstantin did (can't remember what it was)

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/10/2018 08:29

At this point I’ve lost the plot (literally) and been absorbed by the amazing performances. @SeekingClosure I agree about Anna. The actress is Susan Lynch, she’s Irish. Just didn’t work for me.

Looking forward to season 2, I’m interested to see where they take the storyline, and whether they go beyond the original novellas.

captainpantbeard · 04/10/2018 09:23

Thanks Toga that makes much more sense. I might rewatch the final episode.

I've ordered the book/s from library :) :)

TheRealKimmySchmidt63 · 04/10/2018 11:18

Agree with muggins I thought eves husband had something special o do with it!

Wavyheaded · 05/10/2018 12:53

Love this show! I suspect the old lady helped her escape at the end? Who was she being paid by, to watch Villanelle - Russian intelligence or the 12? Or Konstantin? I was a bit confused there.

Wavyheaded · 05/10/2018 13:11

I also thought the ending made sense as Eve's a psychologist and knew how to play Villanelle after finding out what her weak spot was - namely that she's her "type". Quite clever I thought. Some psychopaths have a need to feel loved, even if they are not capable of giving it. Didn't Villanelle's parents die or something when she was young? I can't quite remember what was said, but perhaps that explains V's fixation with her teacher, perhaps?

LittleBookofCalm · 06/10/2018 06:14

great, ending a little What but it had to end.
yep Eve was totally interested in female psychopaths.

love Jodie Cromer, her career before was disappointing. but this was Made for her.

LittleBookofCalm · 06/10/2018 06:15

this Could have been made for her i mean.
I have a total crush.
love Kim too, sexy man indeed.
loved the humour.

StripySocksAndDocs · 06/10/2018 10:13

I know it's likely Konstantin is actually dead, but it wasn't directly said was it? It was just (might be recalling wrong) Carolyn takes phone with few words, after she hangs up her son says 'Konstantin?', she says 'yes'.

Also just to be pedantic the actress who played Anna isn't a well known English actress. She's Irish.

Speaking of Irish actresses Fiona Shaws accent was great bar for one (that i noticed) minor slip up. Any one catch it?

Charley50 · 06/10/2018 10:26

Haven't read your whole thread yet but I agree. It is so so good. And funny. Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh both brilliant.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 06/10/2018 11:28

Couldn’t agree more Grin

Furrycushion · 06/10/2018 11:34

I thought it started off brilliantly but fell apart a bit. The fact that DNA, fingerprints etc were being left everywhere & the plots holes, or more, oddities annoyed me. I would watch a second series though.

SeekingClosure · 06/10/2018 12:21

Oops sorry I didn't realise the actor playing Anna was Irish! I've only seen her playing English, for eg in Happy Valley.

StripySocksAndDocs · 06/10/2018 18:31

Haven't seen Happy Valley. Evidently she does a decent English accent!!

For some reason I recall her most strongly from Cracker. Despite her being in plenty of other things.

SweetSummerchild · 07/10/2018 14:09

I thought the final episode was very disappointing compared to the rest of the series. Villanelle had plot-armour of monumental proportions. How many characters had guns pointed straight at her but never pulled the trigger?

Her survival of the stab-wound is pretty inevitable. It all reminded me a bit too much of Arya Stark in Braavos.

awaynboilyurheid · 07/10/2018 19:21

Such a brilliant series, we have binge watched love the humour too in the midst of dark scenes. Also like the asperger references between the mother and son,(cheese puffs? did you pack them? always! usual flavour? there is only one!) very funny.

BretonStripe · 07/10/2018 21:48

Just finished it - loved it! Also wanted Eve and Villanelle to kiss Blush

Agree that the dodgy plot can be forgiven as the acting and script more than make up for it. Loved the way it was shot, the fashion, humour. Will miss it Sad

@awaynboilyurheid how is that an aspergers reference please?

I also thought it would transpire Konstantin or Vlad were Kenny's Dad, and was disappointed we didn't see Elena in the final episode as she was fab.

Togaandsandals · 07/10/2018 23:38

@ladyflower23, good point, you could be right. Villanelle scared the life out of me. I didn’t in any way feel drawn to her but fascinating character. Love Eve.
