As for the new pros my other half made various lube comments whereas Grazziano is Ross from Friends if he carries on with the oil.

I think that Conference pears are the best they don't take too long to ripen (the problem is because the supermarkets pick them too early) don't usually go mealy and have the least acidic flavour

Yes Shirley I wasn't impressed with the OTTness of the group dances, the one with the contestants was better. It seems like everything has to be speeded up to ridiculousness. I hope that isn't what the rest is going to be like.

Is there another thread somewhere where the partnerings are discussed? I can’t seem to have found it, even this thread doesn’t really?

@ShirleyPhallus you can give your opinions here & I'm sure others will chip in. I've not seen another thread.

So there appears to be 2 sambas & a quickstep in week 1
Not envious of the celebs at all doing those.

TBH if I was doing it I would be tempted to get the samba out of the way early or never do it. So many people go out on a samba, it seems to be really hard not to look like you're doing ploddy dad dancing.

• the casualty idris guy looks good
• have a HUGE girl crush on Vick. No idea who she is but she looks like she’d be great. Saw on twitter her parter looks like “Jon snow with Instagram”
• hope Faye Tozer is good
• think Lauren will be rubbish - athletes usually are!

Disappointed with the pros this year - no real new ones and I wish Karen Clifton would do one tbh

I agree that Kevlar and Stacey need to calm down if they want to go far. He is savvy with social media, will surely pick this up she hopes

The casualty idris guy looks good: Btech Idris should have been with Oti. She's too whiplash for Graeme and seeing as Chucky is also married it makes more sense than a manufactured showmance with Karen.
My DD also loves Vick. I would have preferred her with Johannes but I think she is probably worth a flutter at the bookies.
Faye Tozer seems like Louise mark 2 and Gio should have been getting someone more challenging like Susanna or Katie who really wanted gim
Lauren might get to Blckpool - she certainly has the will, has some salsa under her belt and will have public support from the off. AJ was not expecting to have her: he thought Katie, Stacey or Ashley (height purposes). Hope they can surprise.

I wish Karen Clifton had been replaced by Luba.

I wish they'd go back to the "masterclass" style pro dances where they showcased just one or two styles. The choreography was genius (I believe Matthew Cutler was responsible for many of the routines). I always liked it when the pro pairs started a routine en masse then cleared the floor so the focus was on e.g. 3/2/1 pairs with the others switching in and out.

You really got a feel for the dance and the personality of the pro pairs
The pro dances to the musical guest on the results show are a mostly bit contemptowaft-y for my taste
As for props gah!!! Remembrance Sunday is probably closest to what I'm describing although it doesn't stop them bunging on some Christina Aguilera 'Candyman' and dashing around

Take On Me may be a dodgy choice technically for a jive but it’s a brilliant cultural choice to simultaneously triangulate female fifty-something Strictly fans and the Millenial YouTube demographic.

Next week he’ll be foxtrotting to Africa by Toto, then a ChaCha to Never Gonna Give You Up, then a quickstep to Mr Blue Sky and then I give up.

TBH Shirley I'll need to see it a few times to fit names to faces

ERB maybe they can rig him Morten Harkett style and borrow the mirror prop from Danny's showdance. I do like the song but the video (sorry you cannot see it, it's French Strictly) shows how horrible it is to jive to.

No, there isn’t a Sunday show this week. They’re doing what they normally do and adding week 1 and week 2 scores together to produce a combined leader board before an elimination next week.

Checking in and marking my place ready for tomorrow.

The contestants/slebs/the beeb are really hawking themselves on instagram already - I feel like I’ve already seen all the bumpf they put on between dances.

So shall we take bets as to who we think is going to be the best on the night ? Or most surprising ?
I really want Sean Walsh & Dr Ranj to do well (out of the non ringers!)
