Thanks, Nikki.

allgonebellyup · 04/06/2007 11:24

kristina came across v well i thought.

speedymama · 04/06/2007 11:25

Saying Katie is successful depends how you define success. I personally question her credentials. Katie is a brand manager but yet there was no evidence of that on the task when they had to design a trainer. Also, on the art selling task, she got the strategy wrong and undermined Adam who actually had the right strategy and went on to sell. On the French task, she demonstrated that she was more subjective than objective and supported the other upper class twit when he purchased industrial grade cheese to sell to the French.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. People like Katie are successful career-wise because they go to the right school, meet the right people, use their contacts, manage upwards, surround themselves with people who can do the work whereupon they step in, take credit without giving credit to where it belongs and they reap the rewards.

Her performance on the Apprentice bears this out.

Whether she is a good mother etc does not interest me. What I do know, she is a very unpleasant character who is condenscending, duplicitous, arrogant , untrustworthy and has questionable morals, especially as she is always wishing other dead!

NikkiBFG · 04/06/2007 11:27

When they said she went to Sandhurst, I thought well that explains a lot...not that there is anything wrong with it per se, but it seems to instill this kind of inflated self confidence.....and sadly, it seems that you get more places with that these days than being nice!

allgonebellyup · 04/06/2007 11:34

speedy, yes i wasnt saying katie was a nice person, just dont think people on here should be judging her parenting skills.
they dont say Tre is a bad father cos he works so hard.

speedymama · 04/06/2007 11:40

Agree about judging her parenting skills because it is irrelevant.

MadamePlatypus · 04/06/2007 12:12

Its neither here nor there in terms of being 'The Apprentice', but I think Katie might like to give the impression that she went to 'the right school', but didn't. (Its only relevant because I think she sees being the right kind of person as being important). I went to a girl's private school and thought that some of her remarks stemmed from having had a rather sheltered, narrow minded upbringing as I came across quite a few 'Katies' at school. But I think (which is even odder), she perhaps wants to imply she went to that kind of school but didn't.

not sure i understand you madameP - do you mean that Katie went to a posh school?

DrNortherner · 04/06/2007 14:57

Katie still works for her ex husband. She earns 90k cause he feels bad and pays her over the odds. That'smy theory any way.

Weird to think Christina has an 18 yr old son.

Can't beleive Katie is only 31. She's has a bloody hard paper round.

speedymama · 04/06/2007 15:48

I think Kristina will be in the final. She is very shrewd but there maybe a question mark over her ethics (do you remember the London Zoo incident when she shoved a vile lollipop in a toddlers mouth and blithely asked the parents to pay for it).

I hope Lohit is the second choice but I have a feeling Sralan will go for Knobby Simon.

Mind you, if the rumours are true, maybe he goes for Tre who then turns it down because of family reasons.

speedymama · 04/06/2007 15:50

Katie works for her ex-husband! If that is true, just confirms what I said, it's not what she knows but who she knows because based on her performance so far, she does not know much.

What is that saying....empty barrels make more noise......

ChippyMinton · 04/06/2007 16:07

Don't think she works for him now, though. There was a recent thread about her working for the Met Office.

I think she has picked up the worst kind of Sloaney Pony image from somewhere but has very normal parents (normal being a good thing), and that maybe she went to a normal school.

maisym · 04/06/2007 21:13

didn't realise that madameP! - she comes across as looking down on some people. Couldn't believe her comment about people up north.

beansprout · 04/06/2007 21:17

I'm with Speedy. Katie will always earn a lot of money as she has lots of friends with lots of money. I don't know what she is like as a mother, and, I suspect, neither do her children!

maisym · 04/06/2007 21:26

wonder what help she has? with her schedule she might need two nannies!

beansprout · 04/06/2007 21:27

Was impressed by Tre though, his recovery from that accident was amazing.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 05/06/2007 10:31

I watched this last night and for some reason it strangely enderaed me to Katie.
It may all be clever pscyhcological manipulation on her part, but there is something in her eyes when she is saying outrageously offensive things that hints she is not at all serious. Her best friends seemed lovely too, which is always a good sign.
She may be a bitch but she's one smart woman.
I lol'ed at her saying she has roles in her life 'Katie the mummy, Katie the businesswoman' etc.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 05/06/2007 10:33

Oh yes, the marathon comment was unbelievable, which made me change my mind about her yet again.

BishyBarneyBee · 05/06/2007 10:34

well she's got balls and I prefer that to mundanity.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 05/06/2007 10:40

I'm rooting for Kristina now.
It is quite interesting though that the strongest characters all have a hard background, and a seeming need to prove something. Kristina, with her shocking backgound, giving birth in a convent and moving to England to raise her son, and her issues with the men being more important in her family. Lohit, from a very traditional background, with a hard working immigrant family, and I am assuming coming out caused a lot of tension. Tre because he can do anything, man! So for him he just has to in.

Does it really take hard knocks to become so succesful, or is it just the rags to riches stories that we hear more about?

wannaBe · 05/06/2007 10:42

apparently Katie has wrecked three marriages.

have enormous respect for Tre. There's a lot to be said for positive thinking.

wannaBe · 05/06/2007 10:44

I think it often does take hard knocks to be successful. If you can fight adversity, then you can do anything. IMO anyway. people who breeze to the top have often never had it hard so when they fall they fall with a bump.

saadia · 05/06/2007 10:46

I'm guessing that Tre will win it, or maybe Kristina. It has never been won by someone from a priveleged background.
