I was thinking Adam and Jenny. She's had such a shit time and deserves a fit young bloke. Either him or Imran.

Cariadlet I agree, Moira looks nothing like Helen at least not in my head

eddiemairswife · 15/08/2018 22:47

Why couldn't Gary stay in Bristol?

ellenanora5 · 16/08/2018 00:23

We should place bets on how long Toyah will be a counsellor before she breaks confidentiality and gets sacked, I bet it will happen before the end of this thread.

Bloody Gary, why can't they just get rid of him, he leaves a business (since when was it his) in the hands of a seventeen year old and gets angry when it doesn't run smoothly, arggghhh I can't bloody stand him.

And yes since when did Eileen not have room in the tardis, at one point she had Todd Billy Sean and Shona there and Phelan as far as I remember

The homeless story line is rubbish.

I don't understand why my post was removed as a spoiler. I had not read that Maria would sleep with Imran. I just think that it may happen as sleeping with Maria seems to be a rite of passage for young men in Coronation Street. This thread is for people's ideas of what may happen. This is my assumption.

Clionba · 16/08/2018 09:52

True, Housewife! You must have inadvertently forseen events!

Does anybody else think it's odd how between Imran, Yasmin, Allyah, Carla, Roy, Peter no actual figure has been discussed. People offering to invest etc with no idea of what sum is needed.

I put it down to lazy writing. The writers couldn't be bothered to research how much a back street knicker factory with 12 machinists would be actually worth. My guess, not a lot.
I can't imagine any shop buying the limited quantities Underworld could produce.

Here's a proper undies factory.

catherinedevalois · 16/08/2018 12:27

They'd get more mileage out of turning the factory into a craft/antique outlet divided into small units. That way they could introduce different characters and also have visitors wanting to buy stuff. Good opportunity for characters with a short shelf life and also for some humour.

CoolCarrie · 16/08/2018 12:34

Not bloody Maria! Can’t stand her.

kikashi · 16/08/2018 14:18

IIRC a good while back, Johnny mentioned something about getting £79k insurance for the factory and we all commented on how that wasn't enough to start a new life of luxury in Spain and how characters like Eileen and Sally were actually better off than him (as they have their houses). Now it seems rather than renting Carla's flat, he owns it.

All the characters finances baffle me for example, Tyrone - he was part owner of the garage but then sold his share to Kev when he ran away to Ireland with Fizz and the kids. He then seemed to have his partnership restored (despite having spent a lot of the money) and Kev loaned him a load of dosh (20k?) to pay off his debts when 'Ope was ill. He bought his house from Jack at a knockdown price but him and Fizz seem to always be on their uppers. Don't understand how Kev couldn't rustle up £1k to go to Liverpool with Jack and took the money from Tim (for the ridiculous fraud storyline)

I agree Klutzy it's lazy writing not specifying figures. If the factory was real they would be out of business in a week - dead slow and stop doesn't cut it in the real world.

Clionba · 16/08/2018 16:00

catherinedevalois that's a great idea! Also it would stop the nonsense of meeting on a bench or going to Roy's for a cup of tea when you're skint and live 2 doors down.

Lol at Toyah securing a job as a counsellor of all things with her recent history. I think Angie might have a fling with Adam, he seems overly interested in her marital affairs and now she's 'doing the books' at the Solictors (the only one in town that specializes in everything).

The financial situation of all characters is just determined by whatever silly storyline has been thrust upon them. Peter is normally broke but is now flush with cash for the purposes of investing in the factory.

kikashi · 16/08/2018 17:18

But as Peter keeps saying it's Simon's money (from his mum's life insurance). Although Peter seems to have been living of it for years and didn't Leanne get 1/2 the bookies in her divorce? Not very fair on "Our Si"

Angie and Adam would be a nice pairing - she needs to (leave Jude) and have some fun and be allowed to stop looking downcast and miserable. The actress must be itching to have some better lines!

Clionba · 16/08/2018 17:31

Angie should get together with Adam.
I'm trying to think of someone dull enough to be with Jude....

HettySunshine · 16/08/2018 17:44

Maybe some 6x4 from Gary's builders yard.

Clionba · 16/08/2018 18:09

Hettysunshine hee hee Grin so true.
I was thinking the ghastly Sinead but of course she's hooked up with Daniel and pregnant. Maybe Jude could be her next husband.

Whilst we're talking about the production levels of the knicker factory, was the order that Beth and Kirky meddled with (changed from 1000 pieces to 4000 IIRC) ever resolved? And now that Carla appears to be back in charge of the factory is she going to dispense with B and K's fairly ineffectual sabotage?

Clionba · 16/08/2018 19:23

...... And therefore their cheap /subsidised flat?

OP posts:
Eastie77 · 16/08/2018 19:59

I actually think Toyah and Jude might work. They are both so vanilla.

Peter lost the bookies and gave away his share of the the factory to Carla when they split I think. I've never been able to work out how he managed to finance the pub because yes, Our Si's trust must surely have run out by nowGrin

Why was Leanne rushing around trying to source Toyah's £500 share of the rent while Toyah was calmly sipping coffee with Angie?

Clionba · 16/08/2018 20:06

Toyah and Jude is a good pairing. They're both so dull and boring.
None of the finance in any aspect of Corrie makes sense.

What was the point of Mary's pink dungarees? Was it that they were made of cotton, and it was Angie and Wooden Jude's 2nd Wedding Anniversary? I can't always follow Mary's thought processes.

Clionba · 16/08/2018 21:58

I think it was about the cotton anniversary. They need to be careful with Mary, she can be funny, but they sometimes overdo it.

OP posts:
thenightsky · 16/08/2018 22:06

I had a pair of pink dungarees just like that in the summer of 86 when I was pregnant. Comfy.
