I think the guards took Nick's car, so unless there's one in the garage, June will be trapped.

I forgot to say before, I initially thought Fred was going to rape Serena in the greenhouse, especially with the ad break warning.

I wonder if maybe Isaac overheard the Commanders plans and shopped Nick hence the other guards turning up. They were in the middle of nowhere so there must have been some reason for them to just turn up.

That's an interesting thought - Isaac is probably impulsive enough to do that, plus he doesn't like June and would be happy to have Nick out of the way of Eden.

Does anyone else get the creeps thinking about Isaac and Eden? He's just so obviously the kind of misogynistic arsehole that has her on a pedestal currently and as soon as she slips up he will view her very differently.

Oh god this episode is so upsetting :(

I was a mess watching this one

I've rewound the nick shooting scene loads of times and it's really hard to make out what happened. It really doesn't look like it's Nick who got shot. It looks like he got one of the other guards. But then the two who carried the shot/hit one into the first car said "get his keys" (and then one of them picks up the keys from the snow and gets into Nick's car and drives off in the lead), which can only make sense if it was Nick who was dragged into the car. So completely confusing. Probably intentionally so by the clever writers.

It's like Nick and Hannah's driver knew they were coming though as they had such a sense of urgency to get away/get inside. And being that remote why would you suspect someone will turn up otherwise.

Such a very clever cliffhanger! There really is no way of guessing what might happen next.

Although there was a link to another article at the bottom of it about 'June's decision' which I hovered my finger over for a few seconds and then resisted! I've been so tempted recently to stream the rest of the episodes but have changed my mind. I love the analysis each week and don't actually want it to be over too soon. Although I wish it was Sunday..

Oh don’t worry! Just the idea that she has a decision to make. Because mostly handmaiden have no choices and no decisions. One day to go!

I hope we get to see Nick's back story. His and Aunt Lydia's.

We saw some of Nick's back story in series 1, basically Gilead has given him security and a way to straighten himself out from a bad future.

I would love to see Aunt Lydia backstory.

Could Nick have known one of the other guards, and the one he doesn't know is who got shot? And they will come back for June and she will get saved and they will catch up with Hannah and save her and her Martha and all drive off to Canada and it will all be fine and everyone is safe?

jeremiah - ooh maybe! Maybe they took both cars to make tracks so it looks like they've just driven off. Maybe Nick has a friend who will help, will take the (body) guard away and Nick can come back (driving in the same tracks) and then he and June can head off to Canada?

I’ve had to wait weeks and weeks with this cliffhanger. I was watching at the US pace on RTE but changed tv provider and our aerial wasn’t working etc so I’ve basically had to wait for channel four to catch up, it’s been hard lol I could watch it online but I started watching some of series two with my partner and prefer it on the tv now. Can not wait for tomorrow.

I'm sure Emily's rape was shown at the beginning to remind us of what happened to Offred/June, and underline the ritual significance of Fred raping her again while Serena held her down.

I agree that even titles of articles you haven’t read are too spoilery for this thread. Why are people still doing it?

I don't know why they're still doing it but I wish they wouldn't!

I like Joseph and his technicolor dreamcoat. Does this mean I hate them now because of the Rachel and Leah centres

I love the cinematography the colours etc.
I sway in my love hate for Serena she's a fascinating character.
I sobbed at the bit where the paediatrician got to be "herself" again.

I don't think Fred set them up. I think it's a classic abuser relationship

I think that when June told Fred that he will never be a father he's figured out that he may not actually be the father and Nick is??
Then he set them up when he sent them to the house and has Nick 'taken care of' in front of June, to remind her of her place.

But that doesn't explain her being left in her own. The other men who came to get Nick seemed driven only by him and didn't seem aware (or cared) that June was there too. It seemed their mission was Nick.

Unless it's all a big cover up to get June out and no one really got shot. It was just a cover up. Roll on tonight...
