Pete, Manu, and Colin too!

The instant and pop up restaurants! The challenges! Cook offs!!

Contestants to love and loath!! And probably a bit of food too...

Do not Google anything

Don't know about always youngestisapsycho, but yes there has been the last while.

I'm fairly sure I recall one year there was three rounds. Then more later on. It got REALLY tedious that year.

Agree about the mega fuss of Henry. I means he's attractive. But Anna is also very pretty, where's the fuss over her. Good looking family evidently.

The Truffles do seem like really nice people. Decent sibling relationship too. Appear to be able to cook also.

Hope they last and don't somehow lose to 'personalities' like the critise everything Russian pair; we're best at everything Jordanian Princesses; or mega bitches Pointy and Squeaky.

The military couple are lovely, she is gorgeous! Definately the most attractive girl in the competition.

But the way her partner salivates over food is too funny.

I think Henry is cute, his sister is too adorable.

I was thinking good lord that is far too much truffle but Pete and Manu loved it.

Has anybody noticed how all the women are all "phwoaar" over Manu and never Pete, I think Manu is gorge but Pete is "phwoar" for me. :)

ALemonyPea · 28/07/2018 18:27

I’ve never had truffle before.

The truffle sibs do seem to have a lovely relationship.

ellenanora5 · 29/07/2018 00:27

At last some decent cooking, I thought the trufflers were great and lovely people, also some decent scoring, not as tactical as the last round but its early days.

Oh god the year of the three instant rounds was awful, far too long, Colin had Rachel Woo ( might be wrong on that) I think her name was as a guest judge, she was boring and then I think they had more instant restaurants for the bottom two of each group, it went on forever.

Yes I I've love the parent and child combination except for one year where the daughter was a right cow to her mother.

Anyone remember Kelly and Chole they were the first nasty bitches I remember, one of them complained how they hated kids and didn't know what to feed them at a challenge because they weren't used to kids and yet her little boy turned up at the final, very strange altogether.

Weedsnseeds1 · 30/07/2018 10:28

The Russians are picking holes in everything, but do seem to be scoring quite fairly.
Not like the last round!

StripySocksAndDocs · 31/07/2018 10:40

True, they do.

Still trying to figure out why the Persian Princess needed to walkout. Plus the fawning of over Henry is getting silly.

OP posts:
Weedsnseeds1 · 31/07/2018 18:13

It was the comment about her being little and annoying ( rabbit in Chinese horoscope).
They seem to be sensitive souls this year, the histrionics about being called a cow in the previous group were out of all proportion to the level of insult.
The lemon pudding looked grim...

Weedsnseeds1 · 01/08/2018 00:13

The standard of cooking seems higher in this round.
Looking forward to the Russians tomorrow..

StripySocksAndDocs · 01/08/2018 08:18

It does, doesn't it. Unless we've had the best two - though hopefully not!!!

Really looking forward to the Russians tonight. They are going to have to be amazing!! I wonder if they will do Russian food; can't really think of any that is exciting sounding (not that I've come across much in my life I admit).

Also I wonder if the Princesses will mark them down deliberately despite it. Would be bad if they do seeing the Russians are very fair in their scores.

Don't really think they are that mean the Russians, it's just a cultural difference. It's more just straight talking, and Vulga Olga is analysises the food because that's what she's supposed to do. Admittedly I've only know two Russians in my life (so possibly not the biggest test group) But neither beat round the bush, and both do the job as described.

OP posts:
Weedsnseeds1 · 01/08/2018 09:08

The Russian's criticism is fairly constructive I think, although it comes across as a bit blunt.
Also, the dark haired one saying that she hated blueberries, but knew what the taste and texture of ice cream should be, so would judge on that, not on her dislike of the fruit, was very fair.
Gru's sister and her mate from the other group would have scored a 2 because they hate blueberries and didn't want to be bottom!
Georgian food is lovely, but I guess if they were of Georgian decent, they'd insist on not being called Russian.

HesterMacaulay · 01/08/2018 12:22

I agree Weeds The Russians have really scored fairly despite their criticism coming across as harsh. I hope the others teams score them fairly and not assume they have been low scoring. We shall soon see!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 01/08/2018 13:54

The Russians have often scored higher than others who have been complimentary about the food round the table. I fully expect they will lose marks because of their harsh comments to others

Weedsnseeds1 · 01/08/2018 14:38

I think the two Jordanian (?) women will definitely give them low marks.
The others will probably score based in the food.
I get the impression military man would probably dive into a can of Spam served with ketchup and declare it deliciousSmile

ALemonyPea · 01/08/2018 15:13

I am loving the military mans face when the food comes out. Reminds me of my jack Russell face when we are eating.

Beaverhausen · 01/08/2018 15:44

Matt is hilarious and the way manu teased him last night.

The whole Sonya hadil and Henry thing is becoming annoying now.

youngestisapsycho · 01/08/2018 16:45

I’d love to see the Russians at the table with R&R!

Weedsnseeds1 · 01/08/2018 17:24

I don't rate R and R"s chances if they pick a fight with the Russians. They pretty much bit off more than they could chew by going after the Surgery Sisters. I don't think they expected SS to stand up to them.
Russians would just serve them up a bowl of Novichok laced borscht and watch impassively as they keeled over...

ALemonyPea · 01/08/2018 20:45

The Russians are growing on me. Not sure I’d have eaten anything other than the pudding though. That starter would have made me gag.

Weedsnseeds1 · 01/08/2018 21:30

It all looked great to me, but I'm a weirdo who loves pigs trotters!
I was a bit disappointed that a bunch of people who brand themselves as foodies were basically writing off the dishes before even tasting them, based on the description.
Princesses scored higher than I expected. Hadil almost choked over the compliment for the dessert though - pudding didn't kill her, bit the words almost didGrin

FairyLightBlanket45 · 01/08/2018 22:24

The Russians starter didn’t look good - but I think I would have appreciated their work but I’m pretty sure the jelly would make me gag

I’ve had that main (or something extremely similar in Poland!) so I reckon I would have been down with main and dessert

I like the truffle farmers! I like their honesty - knowing they were about to get knocked off but not minding rather than being silly!

At least they can cook - the cocky ones never normally can! And tbh I think the princesses are just as mean. There’s so much competition to be the meanest this year!

Weedsnseeds1 · 01/08/2018 23:11

Do the teams go through to the next round on a top score from both groups? Or is there a combined round? I can't remember.
Group 2 seem to be way ahead on ability.

Weedsnseeds1 · 01/08/2018 23:17

Ignore, they all go through except the knocked out teams don't they?
Then it goes on to cooking for boy scout jamborees, young offenders institutes, local carnivals etc.
I would really love to see an invention round, similar to MasterChef professionas, where they are given veg peelings, bones, fish heads etc. I think that's a great challenge to sort out the real cooks.

StripySocksAndDocs · 01/08/2018 23:24

Well Russian food doesn't look that nice does it?!

Though apparently tastes good (unless* you're a bitter and vindictive Jordanian Bunny).

*desserts excepted.

OP posts:
Weedsnseeds1 · 01/08/2018 23:46

If the starter was branded as a ham hock terrine, rather than a meat jelly, I suspect it wouldn't have been viewed with the same suspicion?Smile
I sometimes make brawn, which people tend to like unless I have told them beforehand that it's made from a pig's head, in which case they refuse to try it, or nibble a bit and gag. If told it's a terrine or a meat loaf, they like it.
