Starts on Sunday on ITV1.

I'm surprised that un-subtle episode blurb got through to publication. I'm another one who regrets reading it...

Saffkat · 14/08/2018 07:51

That's not a blurb, it's a synopsis Sad

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 08:26

I think the fact the blurb is so spoilerish means it isn’t if that makes sense?

So that person isn’t a good person but isn’t THE person iyswim?

(I’m trying not to give it away for those who don’t want to read it)

Icedgemandjelly · 14/08/2018 08:29

Yeah it'll be the twin and the wives!! Although that's a mash up of S1 n S2!!

Violetroselily · 14/08/2018 08:39

Unless the thing that's being talked about is so unrelated it's not even spoiling anything to talk about it 🤔

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 08:41

Violetroselily that’s what I meant, my addled brain just couldn’t work out a coherent way to say it before coffee Grin

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 08:41

The whole key to Unforgotten is the twists, in each series. No way would they release anything that way going to give the whole thing away. It would defeat the point.

southeastdweller · 14/08/2018 08:45

I would love to believe that but the blurb is quite clear about whodunnit.

Violetroselily · 14/08/2018 08:45

I've found it quite difficult to catch the flashbacks in each episode and IIRC, they were quite relevant in the last two series?

The ones I think I've seen this series are Hayley looking like she was being assaulted (poss a sexual assault?), someone at a cash point, and then in ep5 it looked like someone in a hospital bed and a blood covered hand

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 08:51

southeastdweller really? I wasn’t sure, I guess we all have our own perceptions of how it will turn out.

I find it really interesting how lots of people can read the exact same thing yet all have different ideas.

It’s fascinating! (Yes I know I’m a massive geek)

hackmum · 14/08/2018 10:10

When I'm trying to work out whodunnit, I often look at a character who no one suspects but doesn't have an obvious reason to be there. Mr ex-cop fits the bill there, doesn't he? Cassie doesn't really need a love interest. But Dr Tim was up to something sinister too.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/08/2018 10:12

I don't think it's the Monarch of the Glen as it's usually one of the suspects introduced whodunnit. Or at least it has been in past seasons.

The killer reveal in the first series was totally unexpected.

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 10:28

Aye the first series came right out of left field!

buttybuttybutthole · 14/08/2018 10:36

The thing is, something more must have happened that night because we get the flash backs. I think there was a drug fuelled party and Monarch of the Glen was involved, had the most to lose in reputation as he was a local copper, had the knowledge of the area etc. It is surprising given the evidence we have now that the initial investigation came to nothing.

Maybe it happens that Tim does have a redeeming quality in his genuine care for Chris. I don't think we will find out much else about the 4 original suspects, just that they are all fucked up with plenty of secrets!

MaiaRindell · 14/08/2018 11:09

...But there were clues in the first series. Someone told the killer exactly what they thought of them. It seemed like abuse or bullying before we knew the truth. Trying not to give anything away in case anyone hasn't seen that series.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/08/2018 11:17

Really? I suspected the person of it from the start.

Maybe it is Chris after all.

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 11:19

You’re all cleverer than I am, I suspected the spouse of the killer in S1 but never the actual killer!

MaiaRindell · 14/08/2018 11:29

@YeTalkShiteHen I only noticed when I rewatched series one before the new series started!

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 11:30

MaiaRindell I’ve had it on in the background in the kitchen for weeks, I’ll need to watch it properly! Grin

diddl · 14/08/2018 11:52

" It is surprising given the evidence we have now that the initial investigation came to nothing."

Must always be difficult without a body.

Isn't the guy who was in charge initially dead now-so it could be that ex copper steered his boss wrong rather than the other way round?

screenscream · 14/08/2018 11:58

Re the left-field twist, this (from DS): Sunny's exW is deluded into thinking the relationship can be repaired and when she realises it's not she loses it and attacks Sunny.

Monarch of the Glen is giving Cassie's character another dimension other than worried or very worried, although she looked like she might barf with nerves when they said goodbye at the end of the date. I hope he'll turn out to be genuine, otherwise she might as well just jack in the coppering lark Grin

buttybuttybutthole · 14/08/2018 12:07

Must always be difficult without a body.

TRUE Grin

hackmum · 14/08/2018 13:31

FawnDrench: "He mentioned something about traffic police - who better to bury a body in the middle of the motorway without causing suspicion?"

That's a good point. It was a slightly odd thing to say, wasn't it? Didn't seem relevant to the conversation. I wonder if Cassie's going to have one of her lightbulb moments where she connects him being in the traffic police with the body being buried in the motorway.

diddl · 14/08/2018 13:35

I thought that he was a traffic cop after working on the case?
