I don't know if Raahh is around to start a new thread and I couldn't post on the last one because it's full! Hope you all find this!

Thanks One- it was a real shock- I thought I just had a stitch at the time. I have never known pain like it. Even 3 births, and monthly hideous migraines, do not compare. Grin

I have been meticulously upping my fluid levels ever since. Grin.

It's hot at Wimbledon apparently.

Raahh · 06/07/2018 11:53

Bananas!
The other year, my daughter was a Fair Trade Ambassador at her school- they wrote a letter to Wimbledon , asking how many bananas they went through, and if they were fair trade (if not, why not?Grin).
I seem to remember they got a nice letter back- they go through thousands of bananas, but I'm not sure they are fair trade.

So there you are.

Grin
Fizzywinegum · 06/07/2018 12:02

That was a huge bunch of bananas!

I’m packing - we go on holiday tomorrow which I’m happy about but also a bit sad as I’ll not be able to watch as much Wimbledon as I’d like and not sure what the WiFi will be like so don’t know if I’ll be able to post on this thread. Does anyone know best way of watching Wimbledon in Spain?

Hope hospital appointment goes ok Raahh.

Hoping to fit a bit of tennis watching in between packing (I hate packing!) - looking forward to resumption of Zverev/Fritz match.

Fritz is only 20 and is married and got a baby - he looks too young!

Raahh · 06/07/2018 12:18

Fizzy enjoy your holiday- if you manage to check in with the thread, we will give you a waffly daily synopsisGrin

Fritz does look very young- I suppose he's done it the opposite way to most of the (male) players, who seem to be with their partners for years before they get married.

MirandaWest · 06/07/2018 12:30

I would prefer it if I didn’t have to work and earn money and could watch more tennis.

Admittedly I work full time from home which helps a bit but the situation could be better Grin

Fizzywinegum · 06/07/2018 12:30

Thank you Raahh

We get there just before the England match so there will probably be a mad dash to find a bar to watch the footy - I’ll be the only person trying to find somewhere that’s showing the tennis!

I’ll try and check in here for some waffly updates Grin

Also can’t remember who mentioned the tennis podcast but thank you - I’ve enjoyed listening to it.

ferrier · 06/07/2018 12:57

Stan was another one who got married when he was 20ish and had a kid. Way too young really.

I seem to have missed Tsitsipas every time he's been on. Must try to catch him before he exits.
I do like Raonic. Just find him a little odd.

Madison Keys has hauled herself back from the brink - a set and 4-0 down. Rodina will be kicking herself.

whatnextfred · 06/07/2018 13:00

Hi Everyone!

Life long tennis fan here. Pat Cash was my first crush 😁. I'm off to Wimbeldon tomorrow for the first time and am so excited I may actually burst. Have centrecourt tickets, trying to figure out will it be Nadal or will Edmund / Djokovic be in due to him being British?

What do you think? My sister wants to see Nadal and I want Edmunds Grin

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2018 13:03

Hi what. You found it! I didn't know there was an actual Wimbledon topic. We're always on Telly Addicts Grin

ferrier · 06/07/2018 13:04

I'll be in the US on men's final day Sad
Hopefully it will be one of the days when we don't have an early start and I'll be able to watch in the hotel room.

Yes, work really does get in the way at times. I have a day off today though Grin

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2018 13:04

I think they might put Edmunds on Centre but what do I know! Have a lovely day.

OP posts:
whatnextfred · 06/07/2018 13:08

I've seen Nadal loads! Reckon Edmunds has really upped his stuff this year. Hoping I don't melt in the heat, have the factor 50 at the ready

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2018 13:12

Oh good Zverev/Fritz is on now.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 06/07/2018 13:13

Hello what welcome and hope you have a fab day at Wimbledon. I would have thought that the Kyle/Djokovic match would be on centre but who knows. Rafa has been in centre for his last 2 matches I think.

I’ve been to Wimbledon a few times and never seen Rafa Sad. If I had tickets for centre he would be on court 1 and vice versa. I’m sure you’ll have a great day whoever you get to see.

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2018 13:16

Just wondering. Are you allowed to swap tickets with other people?

OP posts:
OneInAMillionYou · 06/07/2018 13:16

Hi whatnextfred and welcome!

I think Djokovic / Edmund is a dead cert for CC. Not just the Brit factor, Djok hasn't played on Centre yet and as a former champ, he is due!
I think you might get Nadal as well.

I hope you've got a seat in one of the shaded bits of the court, I was there on Monday and it was SO uncomfortable and I think tomorrow is set to be even hotter. If I may advise, do take a hat and a refillable water bottle. They've increased the number of water points this year and they were under siege the whole day! Luckily, if you take a break from play, the concourse under CC is much cooler and there are bench seats scattered around.

Hope you have a fantastic day.

OneInAMillionYou · 06/07/2018 13:18

You can swap tix informally as long as there is no commercial value involved. Many people on social media offer swaps if one of their favourites is on a different court.

PrivateParkin · 06/07/2018 13:19

Jane yes we swapped our tickets once. We had tickets for Centre and we wanted to be on No1. We swapped them with some people who wanted to be on Centre and it was fine. Although TBF that was about 10 years ago, I don't know if they have some high-security way of checking nowadays, as I've never done it since.

whatnextfred · 06/07/2018 13:20

Thanks everyone. I've only ever been to ATP and the Monte Carlo ATP. My boyfriend got tickets on the ballot, best birthday present EVER Grin

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2018 13:23

That's good One. Must be so annoying if your fave is on a different court!

OP posts:
Raahh · 06/07/2018 13:24

Jane I the Wimbledon topic came about years after we started doing the original tennis threads (as they are now) - one of the first ones was even an in Aibu had a title like 'Aibu to be sat her my pjs watching tennis when I should be doing something else'. Grin. I know I've been merrily (talking to myself for most of the year) waffling for about 9/10 years now- telly addicts was just easy to find at the time.

It is my dream to see Rafa play live- I did get to see Stefan a few times (though not at Wimbledon) but I'll never get to see Rafa now. Which makes me sad.

unless I win the lottery and he's at RG next year. I will go by private jet then. Grin

whatnextfred · 06/07/2018 13:26

I mean the ATP finals at the O2, my post made no sense sorry

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2018 13:27

Private I would probably be very suspicious of other people's tickets Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 06/07/2018 13:27

I'm a bit worried about the heat again- DD1 is playing yet another football tournament, with school this time. She has plenty of drinks and suncream.

I think her goalie gloves are in danger of melting.

Raahh · 06/07/2018 13:28

Taylor appears to have lost his mojo.
