I don't know if Raahh is around to start a new thread and I couldn't post on the last one because it's full! Hope you all find this!

I think I'm going with Halep for the women. That would be good.

So long as Serena doesn't win. I couldn't cope with that.

PrivateParkin · 05/07/2018 21:18

dyeing, even...

kazzaD66 · 05/07/2018 21:20

Can't believe the number of seeds going out in the first two rounds!
Btw, just watching TAW - hello Guido Grin He seems as nice a bloke as he is to look at Wink Even CB seemed impressed and I don't often agree with her these days Also, I like Kim Clijsters.

OneInAMillionYou · 05/07/2018 21:27

Parkin thank you! I am on Twitter so will search for Benoit immediately!

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2018 21:37

I didn't even get to see Garbine play. like Angelique Kerber and I'd be very happy for her to win.

magimedi · 05/07/2018 22:20

Sad Shagalopov lost.

Smile Kunta Konta lost - she really irritates me.

Grin Had the best swim of the year today - the first 3/4 feet was like a warm bath & stayed in for 25/30 mins.

Angry - Watching the end of the Delpo/Feliciano match & we had a (short) power cut that meant I did not see the last game. Grrrr...

What an amazing Wimbledon this year is - seeds falling like ninepins. Am loving it!

Tennis
PrivateParkin · 05/07/2018 22:47

So... of the women's top seeds, 2-7 are out already (No1 Halep and No8 Pliskova are left)!! It's crazy.

Also, winning a grass court warm-up tournament was not a good omen, was it?! Cilic, Gasquet, Mischa Zverev, Wozniaki, Kvitova, Coric are all out. Is it just me - I can't remember anything like this after only round 2 before!!

PrivateParkin · 05/07/2018 22:49

magi the last game of the Delpo match was a bit sad - Feli made two errors on overheads (one at match point down) - so you didn't miss much.

Your swim sounds lovely!

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2018 22:57

Forgot to say earlier that my DH came in when I was watching the Delpo/Lopez match and accused me of perving over tennis - I hope he’s not been on mumsnet Grin

ferrier · 05/07/2018 23:41

Agree that this is an astonishing year in terms of fallen seeds. Sad to see Garbine among them.

After a slow start, Foggy won in style Grin

Agree with OneInAMillion (I think it was) that Federer's draw is quite uncomfortable for him as he really doesn't like the big servers. About the only of the list that I'd feel confident that he would beat is Isner.

Raahh · 06/07/2018 09:28

Fizzy tell your dh, it's not perving- it's appreciating the male form.

Or something .Grin

I'm already tired this morning, lack of sleep, I'm being a mum taxi for most of the day, and I feel as though I've forgotten something important.

At least dh (who has worked form home for the last two days) has gone in for a meeting today- so he's out form under my feet. Grin.

Annoyingly, my tennis watching schedule is all messed up over the next week, what with having the football tomorrow afternoon, dc going to parties, and various appointments. (I nearly forgot amongst dealing with everyone else that I have a hospital appointment- to make sure all the pesky kidney stones have gone.). I always forget me- thank goodness for NHS text reminders!Grin

magi The swim sounds lovely. I can swim, but have no stamina. Maybe, eventually, I will inflate the massive pool I won at last year's school summer fair. I never win anything. It was bit of a shock, but it's huge, and still in the box in the cupboard. Lived in my car boot for 5 monthsGrin- (But we've no way to fill it, and the garden is tiny- and it's a sure fire way to make it rainGrin).

magimedi · 06/07/2018 09:40

Raahh Hope that kidney stone has gone. I had one (& passed it) some years ago & it was not nice!

Being old has its compensations - especially during Wimbledon!!

Am looking forward to the Federer/Struff match - have yet to see Struff.

Raahh · 06/07/2018 10:09

Oh, magi it was horrible (and nearly ruined RG for meGrin- had to pay for hospital tv and everything!)- was worse than giving birth. My dad gets them - he just knows now to go to A and E and demand morphine Grin.

Struff can be o.k, but I'm not expecting much- I'm sure Federer will be glad it's not Karlovic and the barrage of aces (though even with all the free games the aces give him, it's never got him to the very top of game).

More interested in the resolution of the Zverev match, and seeing how Raonic gets on.

PrivateParkin · 06/07/2018 10:22

Hope you'll be declared fit by the doctor Raahh - fingers crossed for you.

Yes I'm most looking forward to Zverev and Raonic today as well. Apparently the guy Raonic is playing is some kind of grass court afficionado (according to the Wimbledon website - so perhaps they are just trying to big up his chances?). I wonder if Goran can work his magic on Raonic here? He's not a natural volleyer is he, Raonic I mean, but with a serve like that and on these dry courts, it would make sense to try and get that going, IMHO.

Mac and Tim were on the Tennis Podcast today, predicting/hoping for a Fed/Rafa final. Sadly as it was only audio I had no chance to observe Tim's youthful appearance!

ferrier · 06/07/2018 10:22

Yes - I bet Rog is very happy it's Struff and not Karlovic on the other side of the net. Let's hope he continues the good form of the first two rounds.

ferrier · 06/07/2018 10:26

Raonic always looks so stiff, almost robotic. I wonder how he can move at all! Would love to see him just loosen up a bit.

PrivateParkin · 06/07/2018 10:26

Right, I'm going to have a little sit down and watch TAW before I have to start cleaning up - the in-laws are arriving later. I CBA though, all I want to do is lie around and watch tennis!

PrivateParkin · 06/07/2018 10:29

ferrier he does look a bit robotic. He really reminds me of these toys we used to have as kids - I think they were part of sticklebricks, if anyone remembers those?! I do like Raonic though. Quite an interesting guy with his love of art, etc.

PrivateParkin · 06/07/2018 10:33

Found sticklebrick Milos on eBay! (far left)

WIMBLEDON PART TWO!!
Raahh · 06/07/2018 10:46

SticklebricksGrin

We used to get given those as prizes on sports day Grin(and have to give them back!)

I really like Raonic- he's very sweet, looks a lot better with his hair a bit ruffled. Such a shame his career has been sidelined with injury as it has- he is a lot more than just a big serve, too. Always lovely to see Goran too, really hope he can work the magic he did with Cilic.

Tsitsipas is the other match I am looking forward to today- he's playing Fabbiano, who of course put out Stan. Stefanos got off to a flying start the other day, before going to 5 sets, will see how much of the Fabbiano match was Stan running out of steam, or Fabbiano taking his chances. (and obviously, they've not had the extra day off).

PrivateParkin · 06/07/2018 11:16

Yes I like him too. Also how he always seems to want to try new things to improve etc. He's good. And the Goran factor is a bonus.

I forgot Tsitsipas was playing today. Those carried over matches yesterday have messed up my mental schedule!

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2018 11:33

Boris was probably the only one who would agree to do that clip!

OP posts:
Raahh · 06/07/2018 11:37

I missed Boris- too many phone calls!

Serena. I feel like she is playing every day. They certainly talk about her every day.

PrivateParkin · 06/07/2018 11:39

That was hilarious.

OneInAMillionYou · 06/07/2018 11:45

Raah as a long term sufferer from kidney stones you have my sympathy and I hope the appointment goes well. I am scanned every year and have had numerous laser ops and lithotripsy. Thanks to my mother!

I hope Sascha can come back from the brink today. I love watching him.
