I think Samira is very awkward and Tom boyish and maybe that's why she is being overlooked. She can't flirt to save her life and she comes across very immature.

Totally agree with Bluntness100 and therockinggazelle re Samira. It has absolutely nothing to do with the colour of her skin.

Black women are very aware of being the least fancied female racial group.

I posted some stats on a previous thread on interracial marriage in the US: far more African American men are married to white women than African American women are married to white men. You see the same pattern in the UK.

I think Samira is probably the most beautiful actually- she looks great without makeup! The rest look good in make-up and although pretty girls look ordinary without it. Megan is starting to look really ugly!

Samira's probably not picked because she's a bit more feisty, she's not into making herself look vulnerable or as if she needs a man to be herself- she's a strong character which might scare men off- they all look as if they just want a giggly good-time girl.

Mayan is actually pretty transformed by make up,I wonder what she uses on her skin.

I think it's a bit naïve to think that Samira's race has nothing to do with her not being picked. She is a beautiful woman but, as a pp said, white man and black woman is not one of the more common pairings.

It's got a huge amount to do with her skin colour. The type of boys they've put in there are the kind who are dazzled by all the fake blown up (white) girls and on the outside wouldn't look at Samira once, let alone twice.
As Shamu says, we are very aware that we are not seen as desirable compared to white women.
I feel lucky to have found my husband to be honest. That sounds terrible but that's the way of the world.

Of course samira not being picked has to do with her being black! The whole show is about looks in a stereotypical "attractiveness" way and the media etc just don't portray black people as attractive.

Yes Megan looks very different with makeup. I always think it's funny the way they all have to dess up for the evenings as if they're going out. If I was there I would just want to go about in my pyjamas in the evenings!

Couples get more airtime, we learn more about them, and they're seen as more attractive to new islanders as they're off limits.

Samira, a bit like Alex, are seen as the cast offs no one else picked, so it reduces their allure

I really don't think it's anything to do with her skin colour, I think if any other girl was a bit tomboyish, natural, unable to flirt, didn't put herself out there, doesn't say she fancies anyone, acted like the little sister, she'd probably have the same situation. And she was picked, by Sam.

Alexs is white and no one is saying he's not picked due to skin colour. I cant see a difference in the situations.

It's simply the boys in there are the insta crowd and Samira doesn't fit the mound, and neither does alexs.
