Hi all

Here is the next thread for those who are watching The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 on Channel 4. Please don't put any spoilers on this - the other thread (for those in other countries who are watching ahead of the UK) is:

I don't like this bit.

June going back to the Commander and that weird singing.

What's happening with Charlotte / Angela?

theredjellybean · 08/07/2018 22:05

Crying 😢

kalapattar · 08/07/2018 22:05

Channel 4 finally let us listen to the songs.

Glowbug59 · 08/07/2018 22:06

Oh Janine, love her

MyGastIsFlabbered · 08/07/2018 22:06

There's something in my eye

UKcanuck · 08/07/2018 22:06

What was the Margaret Atwood quote?

Soubriquet · 08/07/2018 22:06

I wonder if it was either failure to thrive as she has been deprived of her maternal love OR we are right and Naomi is doing something

Roussette · 08/07/2018 22:07

This seems to finish earlier and earlier every week. I thought it's meant to be until 10.15?

MrsPussinBoots · 08/07/2018 22:07

It took Janine to silence the bloody channel 4 voiceover. I needed that minute to get myself back together.

Soubriquet · 08/07/2018 22:07

I think it was

"Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them"

Very apt

SpareBedroom · 08/07/2018 22:07

UK that men are scared women will laugh at them but women are scared men will kill them.

WiltedDaffs · 08/07/2018 22:07

UKcanuck "Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them."

UKcanuck · 08/07/2018 22:07

Ah, I remember. Thanks, @Soubriquet!

Hygge · 08/07/2018 22:07

I wonder if Charlotte recovering is a sign that it is Naomi that's hurting her?

I don't believe that it's the power of a mothers love, more likely that whatever Naomi was doing has stopped because she can't do it in hospital in a room full of people.

TwoSweetenersImBitterEnough · 08/07/2018 22:08

Do you think it may be the parenting that's made Charlotte upset and needy. Nobody's allowed to touch the babies, they're fed by the handmaid and then given back to the wife. Wife knows they don't have a bond, doesn't know how to develop a maternal bond, baby grows up without much affection and love. Wife and commander had to visit 'their' baby fully covered up. We don't see them with the children holding or playing etc.

UKcanuck · 08/07/2018 22:08

... and @Spare, and @Wilted Smile

WitchSharkadder · 08/07/2018 22:08

Yes, it’s a brilliant quote. So pleased they used it.

Did everyone else see June going to see Fred as a ‘fuck, that’s my alliance with Serena gone to shit, better make him like me again’ way of thinking?

Beautiful moment for Janine.

NotAnotherJaffaCake · 08/07/2018 22:08

That quote about Men being afraid Women will laugh at them is from Germaine Greer.

OhHolyJesus · 08/07/2018 22:09

That's was a great ending - Love Janine. A mothers love heals all? Wink
First time I've watched and felt uplifted at the end, such a hard one to watch but I do love this series.

Roussette · 08/07/2018 22:09

So the Wiltshire woman exposed to Novichok has died. This is awful.

kalapattar · 08/07/2018 22:09

Poor Janine - when the baby goes back, what's that going to do to her.

So many women in this episode have had a glimpse of their old life - Serena, Janine, June, the doctor, and then had it taken back off them.
Yet their old skills and the fact they are a mother have worked and have shown to be needed.

Roussette · 08/07/2018 22:09

Ooops sorry wrong thread

kashleesi · 08/07/2018 22:09

Janine is gonna be gutted when they take her off her again Sad surprised they let her anywhere near seeing as she’s been in the colonies.

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 08/07/2018 22:10

And Nick - using his 'maleness' to intimidate Eden.

Yes, yuck!

That was beautiful at the end. I know it’s really twee but it made me think of “love makes little things grow”. I suspect Naomi hasn’t been loving Angela/Charlotte. She hasn’t bonded with her at all.

Hygge · 08/07/2018 22:11

I thought it was her, Spare, thank you.
