You mean first look?

Yeah, just seen it, it doesn't look good. To be honest though I'm more on alexs side here, I don't think Ellie tried, she literally did reject him as soon as they recoupled. It's very odd.

Seems Samira was right.

Samira was right. Hope Alex has the good grace to acknowledge that. Ellie used him.
Yuch

hattiesmumm · 25/06/2018 14:38

I’m more angry how Ellie has gone and slagged him off to the girls. I feel so sorry for him :( I
Mean what is so wrong with him? I get why he’s paranoid and abit full on. I would date him.

OnlyBaBaBiss · 25/06/2018 14:42

Just watched the first look - Alex is such an arrogant prick
Why can’t he see that no-one fancies him because he’s awkward and stiff and cringy and entitled and arrogant and condescending...
I’m over this storyline now he needs to leave

ManicUnicorn · 25/06/2018 14:47

It's funny how your perception of what makes someone attractive changes as you see more of their personality isn't it? I now think that Samira is the most attractive girl and Jack the most attractive man. Dani is also nice and normal( or as normal as it's possible to be when your Dad is Danny Dyer).

Bluntness100 · 25/06/2018 15:11

Well to be fair to him, I don't think anyone should hate themselves that much. Hmm

Don't get me wrong, he probably is all those things to a certain degree, but he probably also has some very good qualities, kindness, Intelligence, loyalty, sense of humour etc.

I don't think Ellie has treated him fairly to be honest, I just don't understand why. I'd get it if it changed over a few days, but it literally changed as soon as she recoupled, she made it clear she wanted nothing to do with him immediately after,

It looks very much like she knew he was guaranteed to pick her, so used him to stay in.

Twogirlsandme · 25/06/2018 15:18

I don't think she's been unfair. I think she wanted to fancy him but doesn't.

Twogirlsandme · 25/06/2018 15:20

Alex is furious because he feels like she should fancy him. I think the coy stuff is put on, and that he's incredulous that all these women don't fancy him.

OnlyBaBaBiss · 25/06/2018 15:22

Ha Bluntness that’s true, I’m actually glad he doesn’t hate himself that much Grin

Twirlywooer · 25/06/2018 15:23

I'm still catching up after my poorly 18 month old has halted my Love Island viewing temporarily!

I've just done a complete turnaround with Georgia. I really like her now she's shown her vulnerable side and I really don't want Josh to hurt her.

I admire Samira and her 'crap' flirting. Possibly she's not a good fit for this type of programme, but she's not pretending to be something she's not. She's a bit laddy and she's honest, plus she's the most naturally beautiful. There just isn't the right guy for her in there.

Bluntness100 · 25/06/2018 15:32

I think she wanted to fancy him but doesn't

Yeah but don't you think it's odd that she wanted to fancy him till the moment he picked her and decided she didn't as soon as he did.

As said if it had been a few days I'd get it, but it was literally one day to the next.

Shambu · 25/06/2018 15:35

Seems Samira was right.

Samira was just trying to save Samira from the chop.

To be fair, I'm not up my own arse, but even I'd be bothered by being in love Island and no one fancied me, it can't be pleasant and it would knock anyones confidence,

Samira is different, because she didn't actually fancy anyone really, but she also hides it well. Plus Sam seems willing to have a shot at making it work with her, Ellie simply isn't even willing to try.

Shambu · 25/06/2018 15:37

Equally, Samira has to pretend to fancy Sam but she does not.

Camilla was in exactly the same position last year, she handled it with far more grace, and didn't go on and on with a face like a smacked lobster.

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset · 25/06/2018 15:40

Is there just one woman of Mumsnet? Also sort out your apostrophes. Also I don't give a shit.

OnlyBaBaBiss · 25/06/2018 15:44

One of the outfits on that site is the one there was a thread on the other day saying how grim the slogan is
and it’s not even the worst on there

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 25/06/2018 15:44

Or did it change after the staged kiss which she didn’t seem to have much say in? Knowing it was a set-up and everyone was watching and cheering him on must have been a bit of a turn off.

Shambu · 25/06/2018 15:48

Those slogans are fucking awful.

Shambu · 25/06/2018 15:51

I think probably a lot depended on how Alex was after they were officially coupled up. Mainly he just talked about himself and then went to sleep on the edge of his bed.

ffaith · 25/06/2018 15:53

Don't particularly like Alex but his cronies (adam and Jack)have done him no favours. They're supposed to be more streetwise and have greater emotional intelligence but their cheering as he mooched Ellie was just cringey.
Is Alex some sort of lab rat to them? and Ellie the cheese?

Bluntness100 · 25/06/2018 15:58

To be fair here Camilla did indeed have a face like a smacked arse much of the time. 🤣

Bekabeech · 25/06/2018 16:00

I feel very sorry for Alex. He seems very different from the other Islanders, and is struggling to adapt. I don't think he expected to feel so different. But then of course he is getting advice from the likes of Adam and Jack who are not necessarily the best role models.
On the other hand I don't like Ellie - and what cemented that was when she told Zara to "go for it" with Adam because he was so different with her to how he'd been with the other girls. I think that was either wishful thinking or manipulative (after all she doesn't want Adam, and if Zara pairs with him that is one less rival).

This years lot seem less mature than last year, and more "playing the game". There is no one stropping like Olivia last year etc. That was far more real.
