Hi all

Here is the next thread for those who are watching The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 on Channel 4. Please don't put any spoilers on this - the other thread (for those in other countries who are watching ahead of the UK) is www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/3239228-Handmaids-Tale-Season-2-SPOILERS-VIEWING-AHEAD-OF-UK-SREENING.

What if the top commander gets killed and Fred gets promoted? Then he'll be able to go to Canada and cause all sorts of problems up there.

Aridane · 24/06/2018 22:52

bring - streaming sites

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 24/06/2018 22:52

Ahhh the colonies link good call - if lots of the handmaids have been killed may be they 'recall' some to Gilead?

Aridane · 24/06/2018 22:52

(unofficial)

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 24/06/2018 22:53

I’m confused about Canada. I thought Canada was against the Gilead regime and providing refuge for escapees but Waterford and co seem to think they’re expanding into Canada?

DashOfMagic · 24/06/2018 22:53

Ooer. I assume that was ALL the commanders just went kaboom, so this should mean a big shake up and shift in power for ALL the wives and ALL their households, right?!

And what does everyone think nick was up to?!

He must have had something up his sleeve to be confident enough to ask to be transferred away from June. But now it looks like whatever it was won’t happen anyway?!

Shock
MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 24/06/2018 22:57

The Canada thing is to do with sanctions against Gilead of the current equivalent against

Iran
North Korea
Russia

And trying to get Canada to trade with them again

MarshaBradyo · 24/06/2018 22:57

That ending really surprised me

The lighting and scene setting was incredible in this one - moody house shots like a painting. And all the greenery

Destinysdaughter · 24/06/2018 22:59

I hope Nick isn't dead!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/06/2018 22:59

my episode cut out 15 mins before the end :(

kalapattar · 24/06/2018 22:59

Nick must have known about the bomb. It looked like he was supposed to enter the buiding as well but then turned around.

CurbsideProphet · 24/06/2018 23:00

Ah yes The Stephens. It's difficult to remember the sequence.

Nick mentioned being happy to go to the "front". Are some states still out of Gilead?

I presume some handmaids will be created out of Econowives who have been snitched on for ungodly behaviour?

JustLikeBefore · 24/06/2018 23:01

Nick came out of a building spoke to the top commander, then walked the oppersite way to everyone walking to the building.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 24/06/2018 23:02

Ive just watched the bomb again on YouTube

So... the thing is ladies... there are LOTS of clips on YouTube but this thread IS Spoiler Free

Blessed Be The Fruit 😈

Destinysdaughter · 24/06/2018 23:07

I'm watching the ending again!

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 24/06/2018 23:07

I think some states are still out of Gilead because in the very first episode, June was trying to get Hannah to the next state. They did name the state I just can't remember what it was.

EvilTwins · 24/06/2018 23:15

I’m hoping none of the commanders survived.

QOD · 24/06/2018 23:19

To the flock be true 🐑

Soz. Irritates Dd so much as that is my response every time to ‘blessed Is the fruit’

Whatthefoxgoingon · 24/06/2018 23:31

Ofglen made it quite far into the room, plus that was a good going blast. It would be likely most of the people still inside would have died, if not all. I don’t think every single commander was in the room, they must have a designated survivor at least.

SleepIsForTheWeek · 24/06/2018 23:34

There is no way the Commander should survive this. I'm sitting on my hands to stop myself from going over to the spoiler thread!

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 24/06/2018 23:37

He’s going to survive. There’s no way they’ll kill him off... I think this is going to give him more power as the commander nick was talking to was practically next to her when she detonated the bomb.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 24/06/2018 23:37

And I guess he was the furthest away and behind a lecturn, maybe that alone will save him!

FaultySpice · 24/06/2018 23:42

I assumed the men working on the building in the days leading up to the opening fitted the explosives? Mayday operation!
I'm surprised they let Ofglen just bowl in like that.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 24/06/2018 23:52

Thanks mrsstark

Whatthefoxgoingon · 25/06/2018 00:08

Ofglen was supposed to come into the room, Fred thought she’d jumped her cue initially. They did try to stop her but she was super fast!
