Here is the next thread for those who are watching The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 on Channel 4. Why is Serena being so nice?

Is it just me, or does anyone have to turn it down when the adverts come on, then up again when it resumes?!

Also, talking about the before-time? Surely that's not allowed?

The obstetrician told Serena Joy that Offred needed harmony in the home in order to be a healthy brood mare. Perhaps that is Serena's motivation?

Ha I've just done exactly that, some of the dialogue is hard to hear and understand, I've got my TV on a couple of notches louder than usual

Hygge, the whole handmaid concept is based on the Rachel & Leah bible story. It’s where the Commanders got the idea from.

Serena’s goof when talking to Ofglen was awful!

I think Serena is miserable and realises Gilead was a huge mistake but is now stuck with it. She probably envisaged herself having more power and now has to deal with the fact that she never will and, unless she has a child, her life will be one long and boring charade. I take it that Commanders and Wives aren't allowed to sleep together for fun, so she hasn't even got that.

Is Serena wearing grey/black today or is it dark green?

I don't think it's out of the realms of possibility for Serena to help June escape. If she escaped herself she could find a much better husband and potentially carry a child herself which would give her what she wanted with the freedom she so desperately seems to crave. Don't think it will happen though.

I wonder if the show will ever explore Aunt Lydia's backstory? I wouldn't be surprised if she had a very lowly occupation and now the power has gone to her head.

I remember it from the book @WitchSharkadder, I like how it all fits in with what Margaret Atwood said about everything in the book having happened to someone. She wove a very clever tapestry and I like how she used things like that story to do it.

God the brilliant awkwardness of her organising a patronising children’s tea party and then slowly being excluded from it - great scene, so many great scenes, you have to hand it to the team

Interesting use of Serena.

Serena will not change. As June says 'I thought she could be decent'.

Yea the uni did look very much like the new centre.
I wonder why Serena didn't just do what she suggested to June and get pregnant by someone other than the commander.
Does Serena know the baby is nicks?
I can't remember if it's in series one or the book she the idea to June

Interesting that June now has her bed frame back

I thought they took it away so there was no falls out of bed during pregnancy

Interesting to watch Serena and June being kind to each other.

Both ultimately to get something they want. It looks like they are forming a small connection, almost like in another life they could have been friends.

And then you see just how different they are. Serena was being kind to June for the sake of harmony in the house, June was returning the kindness so she could ask about Hannah.

And both realised once again the gulf between them when Serena said no to June and sent her back upstairs.
