There was a bit of swearing and innuendo in all the episodes , but I did like the lack of any ‘sex scenes’ and a bit more gentle humour.

MadisonAvenue · 29/05/2018 14:42

The80s I think it's John Redmond and Kayleigh Kitson

UrsulaPandress · 29/05/2018 15:08

Excellent review in the Telegraph today - particularly the ending with them holding hands, on a bus, listening to a walkman, in a programme called Car Share.

Sorry to be thick but was it an old Take That video?

Hadn't John's character been hurt in love hence his reticence to get involved?

EdWinchester · 29/05/2018 15:13

I only just realised the brother in law is Guy Garvey.

mydietstartsmonday · 29/05/2018 15:22

Loved it. loved it, loved it! I howled when the car door came off, a right old belly laugh and tenner lady moment.
Brilliant it was perfect.

The80sweregreat · 29/05/2018 15:33

It was an old take that video for' back for good' just before Robbie threw his toys out of the pram and went off them for a while and did his own thing. it was well done i thought.
in fact i loved all the videos they did on this show, but then the music is my era..

reminds me of an old red nose sketch with James Cordon and Catherine Tate trying to get a 'take that tribute band' together! all that water!

Guy had to have the best part in those episodes, just a few lines and pretending to be doing work to an old motorbike. easy money!!

The80sweregreat · 29/05/2018 15:34

madison, thank you for the surnames. the titles at the end just say Kayleigh and John.

cloudyweewee · 29/05/2018 17:20

I thought it was a perfect ending. I love John's embarrassment at some of the innuendoes on the radio and also when Kayleigh said that no 36 year old has very perky breasts without a boob job, and he took a sly sideways look at hers!

Did anyone else find Peter kay slightly faciable at the end of the Take That video? Shock Blush

cloudyweewee · 29/05/2018 17:20

fanciable

The80sweregreat · 29/05/2018 17:26

I like him - I think he has lovely eyes and is funny too. (He isn’t well liked on Facebook though) It was odd seeing him out of his work uniform.

The80sweregreat · 29/05/2018 20:34

Sian’s hair is always so perfect. How goes she do it?

KinkyAfro · 29/05/2018 20:52

Didnt realise the BIL was Guy Garvey...thought he looked familiar but couldn't place him!

MadisonAvenue · 30/05/2018 06:39

The80s re Sian Gibson's hair, she posted on Twitter that the Fiat's smashed up and the wig's back in the attic.

blueskypink · 30/05/2018 07:20

I think this review says it all -
www.theguardian.com/culture/2018/may/28/peter-kays-car-share-reaches-end-of-the-road

Slartybartfast · 30/05/2018 07:22

I liked it, on the whole, I liked the ending, made me happy. I dont think I laughed at the car door, I was more worried that He could have been killed ! [bluish]

MissGiddyPants · 30/05/2018 07:39

That Guardian review is torturous. What do they do to language. And the correction at the end.......

The80sweregreat · 30/05/2018 09:04

madison, its a wig! blimey, i didnt realise that. should have guessed i suppose as its always so perfect!

The80sweregreat · 30/05/2018 09:16

re the article from the Guardian - the comments section was the usual mix of ' complete rubbish' to ' loved it' ,( i often go the comments bit first sometimes on these type of reviews as some people are witty as well as the obvious slating that PK always gets, if someone is successful you knock them down in the UK)

I loved it all - some episodes were better than others and Kayleigh is annoying as is John, but that is the point of course and his comedy is always about the normal. the characters - the nan in the car one was typical of some of my own family and how they react to things.
You start to see yourself as well and that really is scary.
I will miss it, but theres always 'This country ' and Mum to look forwards to next year.

EdWinchester · 30/05/2018 09:16

That hideous hairdo could only be a wig!

she has nice hair in rl.

The80sweregreat · 30/05/2018 09:18

I know nothing about wigs ( obviously!!)

she must have had to tie it all up at work as well, all that hair flowing over the food! plus they were always on the same shifts too!! lol

Slartybartfast · 30/05/2018 09:25

one of the comments talks about a Nod to the graduate.
i dont think it was, it was ironic because it was Car sharing, and they ended up on the bus! But I guess people are free to draw conclusions

The80sweregreat · 30/05/2018 09:50

No, nothing like the graduate film!!

I think it was just the irony of him having to get the bus after years of getting around under his own steam.

I did think she came across as a bit dim sometimes though - sweet, but her constant ' whats that' and not getting it would get on my nerves. I bet she is a pain to work with in that store. it was nice they mentioned other colleagues though who sounded worse!

PK's music knowledge is sublime . i know we have the internet these days, but he always chose the right song at the right time in places.

Loopytiles · 30/05/2018 09:54

Yes, the music is fab.

Forget The Graduate: the wedding invitation and ridicule of it was a nod to MN!

The80sweregreat · 30/05/2018 09:57

He has used MN expressions before '- I have pom bears 'for example.
Are you on glue?
I bet he gets his wife to spy on us.

Slartybartfast · 30/05/2018 10:01

I am going to have to watch it again - I did chuckle at the knee slide during the Take That video Grin
