Is coming back very soon! I'm guessing in the next 2-3 weeks.

Who's excited?! I've read all the books and can't wait for the new series.

OP posts:
Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/07/2018 22:14

It sounds like the books were a sort of soap opera of their time?!

It is a bit weird now I think of it that time has obviously moved on about 10 years but all the main characters look exactly the same 😂

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/07/2018 07:29

I never really thought of them like that Girliefriendlikesflowers but I guess they were.

Ansumpasty · 03/07/2018 12:14

Poldark makes me love Cornwall more than I already do. Some of these look fabulous to visit:

www.britainexpress.com/counties/cornwall/houses/index.htm

I’m a bit of a history geek and it amazes me to look around these houses and imagine the families, like the Poldarks, who once lived there.

runningkeenster · 03/07/2018 12:52

Do you want to know why the vicar dies? It's not as simple as just fallng off his horse! Morwenna doesn't murder him by the way -though she would have just cause

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/07/2018 13:34

Yes running

I wonder if Elizabeth feels guilty about poor morwenna , she should!! Does morwenna keep her son?

xsquared · 03/07/2018 14:11

@running, I’m going to guess std?

LegoBitcho · 03/07/2018 14:18

I need to know about the Vicar!

I'm usually a hard arsed bitch, according to dh, but I was sobbing at this week's episode Sad

cherrytrees123 · 03/07/2018 15:48

The way the vicar treats poor Morwenna is just so so upsetting. I hope he falls into a fire and roasts to death. It really gets my goat.

cherrytrees123 · 03/07/2018 15:51

I hope Elizabeth and George get their comeuppance too. I can't understand why she goes along with him, he's such a reptile.

Clionba · 03/07/2018 16:27

The vicar meets a just end. Morwenna keeps her son and marries Drake. However, there is a bit of pain and heartache before all that, especially about the circumstances of Ossie's death.

IAmcuriousyellow · 03/07/2018 16:44

I don’t remember Morwenna keeping John Conan, i thought she was happy for Lady Godolphin to keep him and raise him in the style of Osbourne? She had no fondness for him at all, and she never apologised to the baby as she did in the series for her threat. I very much got the feeling from the book that there was far too much Osbourne in John Conan for her liking, and Drake pretty much saved her by taking her in - he loved her endlessly - she was very damaged from her first marriage poor soul.

Clionba · 03/07/2018 16:47

Does she not keep Conan? I can't remember, I thought she did, but maybe he goes to the grandmother. It's good that Morwenna isn't totally scarred ie she does eventually have a relationship with Drake.

SadieHH · 03/07/2018 16:49

No, John Conan lives with his grandmother. There's a rather upsetting incident for Morwenna years later when he appears at a party and he looks exactly like his father. She hadn't seen him since he was little.

Clionba · 03/07/2018 17:24

Thanks, Sadie, I'd forgotten that. I do love the portrayal of Rowella in this series, she's such a minx "vicar"!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/07/2018 17:54

That's a bit sad she doesn't keep the baby although I can understand she must have mixed feelings about him given his monster father. Poor sod doesn't stand a chance being sent to live with his equally hideous grandmother.

sususususus · 03/07/2018 19:01

John turns into quite an obnoxious child, probably due to his grandmother.

@cherrytrees123 George never gets his comeuppance unfortunately. I wouldn't say Elizabeth deserves her ending though.

SadieHH · 03/07/2018 19:07

No, George doesn't quite get the fate he deserves but he certainly meets his match Grin

I just want to punch Elizabeth. Could so easily have been avoided if only she'd confided in the right person.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/07/2018 09:36

I wouldn't say Elizabeth deserves her ending though Totally agree, although very foolish to do what she does.

runningkeenster · 04/07/2018 10:06

Ok SPOILER

about the vicar, he is pushed off his horse by Rowella's husband when he finds out about her affair with Ossie. There is a certain amount of suspicion about his death but nobody suspects Rowella's other half (and he also beats her up, though not life-threatening).

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/07/2018 16:53

Does Elizabeth top herself?!

Ossie had that coming, in fact I hope it wasn't a quick death!! I feel a bit sorry for the son as it sounds like history repeating itself.

I wonder if mn should put #spoilers in the title?

Clionba · 04/07/2018 17:25

SPOILER Elizabeth gets pregnant, but to persuade George that Valentine is his, she decides it needs to be another "early" baby, so she brings it on with drugs. The baby (Ursula) is ok, but she dies.

SadieHH · 04/07/2018 19:24

You missed the best bit about Ozzie's death

SPOILER

He is pushed off his horse but his feet are still in the stirrups and so he is dragged for some distance by the horse. That's what finishes him off. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke 👏🏻

autumn57565 · 04/07/2018 19:34

But he does rape Morwenna before that, making her pregnant again (she loses the baby).

In Cornwall, Demelza’s match-making continues successfully and Drake and Rosina are engaged. Ossie meanwhile hires a sterner nurse to remove John Conan from Morwenna permanently, and continues calling on Rowella while her husband Arthur visits his parents.

In London, Ross attempts to make Caroline deal with her grief but finds her in the orbit of Monk Adderley, who only helps her ignore it. Tensions between Adderley and Ross rise again.

Ross pitches a plan to Falmouth for landowners to top up their employees’ wages and Falmouth forces Ross to compromise his principles in return for Falmouth backing his plan. Ross and Basset return to Cornwall to trial the scheme...
