Is coming back very soon! I'm guessing in the next 2-3 weeks.

Who's excited?! I've read all the books and can't wait for the new series.

OP posts:
Ansumpasty · 01/08/2018 12:03

I fancy him a bit...and Ross...and Dr Enys. I’d be Truro’s biggest floozy

Princess1066 · 01/08/2018 13:07

Ansumpasty - you and me both Grin

Fireinthegrate - bless him - hopefully he's a bit nicer in real life Wink

MissMarplesKnitting · 01/08/2018 13:41

Apparently he's lovely. I hope the guy who played Whitworth is too, because he was absolutely fantastic as the odious reverend.

Princess1066 · 01/08/2018 15:12

MissMarplesKnitting - great name btw Wink

Lovely is how he comes across in interviews I've seen Smile

MidLifeCrisis2017 · 01/08/2018 15:19

@MissMarplesKnitting apparently he IS lovely according to the owner of a hotel he stayed in a while ago.

Princess1066 · 01/08/2018 15:33

Bless Halo

Fireinthegrate · 01/08/2018 18:40

MissMarple
Have you seen pics of the actor who plays Ossie? He is sooo handsome. He had to put on a lot of weight for the role.

MissMarplesKnitting · 01/08/2018 18:48

No I haven't, i'll have to Google him.

I think it takes far more talent to play the complex baddies (and romantic faulted heroes) like George, Ossie and Ross. All are characters with demons from their past that detrimentally affect their behaviour, just some worse than others.

I liked Caroline far more in the books, she seems a bit one dimensional in this adaptation. Lacking a bit of the spirit of hoped to see.

MissMarplesKnitting · 01/08/2018 18:50

Oh my word, he's actually a real looker.

Hats off to him, that's a fantastic transformation and acting performance. Good man.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 01/08/2018 23:29

I’ve never read the books. Was really shocked at Elizabeth dying. Did not see that coming. She was George’s rock. I actually feel really sorry for him. He’s an absolute snake and no matter what he does he feels constantly inferior to a man who really doesn’t give a shit but the actor played a blinder and I felt so awful for him. George really loved Elizabeth. Sad

LapdanceShoeshine · 01/08/2018 23:30

I can never unsee him as the young Tony Blair Grin

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 01/08/2018 23:33

Who is that? Shock

MissEliza · 02/08/2018 00:10

I didn't like Elizabeth but her death made me so sad: She took that medicine because she knew the best thing for Valentine was for George to believe he was a premature baby and therefore his . She had limited life choices, even if she was rich.
I'm glad Morwenna had a happy ending but it would have been educational for today's audiences to see her thrown in an asylum for her behaviour/feelings. It wasn't uncommon.

MissEliza · 02/08/2018 00:13

Jack Farthing is supposed to be lovely. He's certainly done a great job making me hate his character.

NovellNetware · 02/08/2018 00:54

The two best actors for me are Jack Farthing and Osborne. First class!

LapdanceShoeshine · 02/08/2018 01:00

@MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig

Who is that?

Sorry, I thought I’d be posting it right after MissMarplesKnitting - it’s the Ossie Whitworth actor, Christian Brassington - a few years back, before he gained the extra 2 stone for Ossie.

What a trouper!

ElspethFlashman · 02/08/2018 08:44

Just remembered another part of the ep which rattled me. Ross going to go over to the grave whilst George and Valentine were there? And Demelza had to physically hold him back?

I mean, WTF???

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 02/08/2018 11:49

LapdanceShoeshine oh yes I can see it now. Good lord. Grin

beguilingeyes · 02/08/2018 12:12

For me, the best actor in it was Luke Norris. So natural and understated.

NovellNetware · 02/08/2018 12:35

I do think Demelza is far to permissive. Its almost like she has accepted her DH is part-time on loan to Elizabeth.

beguilingeyes · 02/08/2018 13:07

This is where Horsfield makes the whole thing soapy. The story is strong enough to stand on its own without adding things like the meeting between Demelza and Elizabeth and Ross asking Elizabeth to forgive him in front of her husband, also that ridiculous flashback scene. No wonder half the audience think Ross and Elizabeth are star-crossed lovers and the whole thing is about them.

LapdanceShoeshine · 02/08/2018 13:32

He is adorable, but I think he was mostly playing himself. Jack Farthing & Christian Brassington had to do a lot more work!

beguilingeyes · 02/08/2018 13:47

Elizabeth's death is a lot more gruesome in the book. The gangrene made her stink and turn yellow. No one would sit with the corpse.

Got to give it to the writer for putting in some good old stereotypy final punishment for the wayward woman in there! she not only does from the poison but rots for her sins!!

Haven't read the book but guessing Warleggan will have a far more dignified ending, if at all he does die.

SadieHH · 02/08/2018 14:55

Not saying if he dies or not but he does have his own moment in one of the later books...
