Just binged all 4 seasons!

Where's the apple crumble that's the highlight of Friday Night Dinner ? It's nicknamed crimble crumble and is always apple crumble.

(Remember the night they hid it because they did not want to share it with Jim but he just would not leave ?)

The Christmas episode where the very Jewish mother in law comes to visit, bringing her own cooked turkey which is nicer than Jackies ! On arrival the Jewish mother in law sneers, 'give it to her' meaning give the plate of turkey to Jackie. All without even making so much as eye contact with Jackie !! Comedy gold !

Or the night Jim wants to take a bath at their house because his made-of-elm wooden bath caught on fire ! It's surreal !!

One question. How did Jim get to know the family ? Another question. Why do they keep humouring him ?

MyBeloved · 21/05/2018 13:51

We now call 'it' nippy nippy Grin

TerfTerfTerf · 21/05/2018 16:14

Jim's bath "burnt to crisps" Grin
Love Bitch-Face too "I only kissed her breasts a little"!

bonfireheart · 21/05/2018 17:33

Isn't Jim their neighbour?
And I think they humour him because they're a nice family.

redfairy · 22/05/2018 18:50

Has anyone noticed Martin's glasses case is always angled suggestively peeking out of his trouser pocket?

dorothyparka · 26/05/2018 10:30

I think the writer(s) have been coasting for a while but I did like the Big CarrotGrin

cushioncovers · 26/05/2018 11:42

JustDanceAddict · 26/05/2018 16:25

last nights was great, ‘bugger off!’

CaptainHammer · 26/05/2018 17:43

I didn’t really enjoy last nights episode. I thought the actor playing Ben was crap!

CaptainHammer · 26/05/2018 17:43

*Stanley

Ruffian · 26/05/2018 17:46

Agree Captain, he seemed quite out of place with the rest and all round it seemed a lot more clunky and obvious than the older stuff.

JasperWithTheGoat · 26/05/2018 20:55

Just watched last nights episode, that man (Ben) totally ruined the episode, very fake laugh at the end too, I think Friday night dinner is so good because the family seem to bounce off each other and the conversations feel very natural, Ben just felt awkward and wooden

CaptainHammer · 26/05/2018 21:32

Yes that laugh was absolutely ridiculous, I was cringing for him and the cast having to work with him!

Didn’t really enjoy this weeks.

Absolutely HATE ventriloquist dummies so that ruined it.

Also Ben sounded like he belonged in Game of Thrones more.

Agree that laugh at the end was appalling and way too fake and went on too long and the fact that a slightly burned dummy made him laugh so much as well Hmm

cushioncovers · 27/05/2018 07:48

The star of the show as usual was Jim afaic

ShatnersBassoon · 27/05/2018 07:53

This week's was poor, other than the big carrot and Martin generally.

The actor playing Ben was just dreadful - I know it's a daft farce, but some skill is required to be the straight man. I'm also getting a bit tired of Johnny's gob dropping open after every funny line; we know that's the funny bit, we don't need a visual cue.

I won't stop watching though Grin

blacklister · 27/05/2018 08:23

This weeks wasn't as good as the first two in this series, but it still made me laugh.

The PP that said Ben sounded like he should be in GOT -yes! I said to DH that he sounded like a Jon Snow sidekick. He was a bit crap.

Dad is the star of the show though. Every week. The thought of his 'lucky meat' still makes me chuckle Grin

bonfireheart · 28/05/2018 00:23

The show works better with the characters they have - no need to introduce new ones, hated Jim's date with the annoying laugh too.
Also preferred when Jim was popping around a couple of times an episode, he seems to be more of a sad character than a funny one this series and everything too obvious.
Love the mum and dad though.

yorkshireyummymummy · 28/05/2018 00:43

I love the episode where Jim gets the electric shock so he has to have the kiss of life.
I have to go to the loo before watching The scene where he spills the red paint all over himself and everything else as I will wet myself laughing. God, it’s brilliant.

jay55 · 28/05/2018 10:07

Agree I prefer less Jim for maximum impact.
I love the gentle stuff between the family as much as the big moments.

pastabest · 28/05/2018 10:12

I love this show but there's definitely been too much Jim in recent episodes. It's becoming all about Jim and his weirdness rather than about his occasional interruptions of Friday Night Dinner.

It feels a bit like the writers are starting to struggle.

ToeToToe · 28/05/2018 10:17

I love it. The one with the dead frozen fox made laugh more than anything I've seen on the TV for years.

Agree there's a bit too much Jim recently, I like the 4 of them together the most. Bloody love Val though.

UnderthePalms · 28/05/2018 10:43

Loved the episode with Jason Watkins and his crap jokes with his eyes closed. All the Mr Morris episodes, especially the bowling one.

covetingthepreciousthings · 01/06/2018 22:20

Anyone watching tonight?

Looking back at other comments, Jim is one of my favourite characters so I don't mind him popping up more.

Agree about the friend last week being out of place though.
