I’ve just heard that this will start in the US at the end of this month but Channel 4 haven’t said when they’ll start showing it yet.

Please can you link? My googling is rubbish and all I can find is put locker which I don’t trust.

AcrossthePond55 · 25/04/2018 23:23

Cru I'm in the US. Sorry!

GeekyBlinders · 26/04/2018 07:38

Last season they only released the first 2 or 3 episodes at once, then it was one episode a week. I don't mind, I don't think I could face 10 hours straight.

Dulra · 26/04/2018 08:13

For those in Ireland it starts on RTE 2 tonight!!!

Read yesterday it is coming to Channel 4 in may

BobbiBabbler · 26/04/2018 08:18

I think Homeland is in the spot that Handmaid's Tale had and that has two episodes left to go so maybe they will show it after that.

PenelopeFlintstone · 26/04/2018 12:17

I'm watching Episode 1 of Season 2 right now in Australia. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep going; so awfully harrowing.

ShotsFired · 26/04/2018 12:22

I would at least like to see the last episode of S1 as a refresher.

I assume C4 will get it asap as otherwise they lose momentum and also all the people here who manage to wangle it online through whatever means. Like how Fox show Walking Dead 1 day later etc.

I was all excited because I had been under the impression that the launch date was for the UK. Gutted when I realised it was just US.

iheartmichellemallon · 26/04/2018 12:45

Agreed Geeky, it's one show that I can't binge watch - need at least a week between episodes to digest what I've just watched & get over it in time for the next one!

PenelopeFlintstone · 26/04/2018 13:01

I missed series one on tv and caught up on 'sbs on demand'. You have to register but see if you can register from the UK. It's free. It's an Aussie government channel.

Tringley · 26/04/2018 13:45

mycouchtuner.one has the first two episodes. I don't know if it's a very advert spammy site as I have quite strong security measures on my computer so I find it simple and user friendly. Tbh, mumsnet activates significantly more alerts for blocked content and cookies than couchtuner.

OohMavis · 26/04/2018 13:54

I've watched the first episode. HURRY UP. I want to talk about it!

HabituallyOptimistic · 26/04/2018 14:07

Ooh, have still got season 1 so will rewatch in anticipation. Excellent series. Bleak but excellent.

ktel1 · 26/04/2018 14:29

I watched part of episode 1 but I found it too upsetting/harrowing .

I don't know if I'm just not in the right mood to watch it at the moment or not

Season 1 was disturbing but it looks as though this season is going to be a lot worse.

Tringley · 26/04/2018 14:31

Actually, I'm surprised RTE is getting away with showing The Handmaids Tale before May 25th. How long before some pro-birther complains to the referendum commission that it's biased in favour of Repeal. In fact, there will likely be an episode shown the night before we vote!!!!

Tringley · 26/04/2018 14:39

I've just looked at the RTE tv listings and THT is showing immediately after Catastrophe. That's pretty hilarious considering the month of politics we're currently in!

GeekyBlinders · 26/04/2018 14:42

Watched the first two episodes this morning. It definitely made me excited for the rest of the season, but still it was very depressing. It was dark in both tone and on screen - some of the time I couldn't see what was happening. Can't wait for more people to watch it so we can start discussing.

YorkshireFatRascal · 26/04/2018 14:56

I watched the first episode last night and found the opening scenes harrowing. I have been thinking about it a lot this morning. The soundtrack has inspired me to watch some old Kate Bush videos on YouTube which has improved my mood. I think Elizabeth Moss is a fantastic actor who can express tremendous emotion without speaking. I could felt a bit drained by the end so am saving episode 2 until the weekend.

OohMavis · 26/04/2018 15:03

I'm saving episode two for tonight. I needed to watch some cake videos on Youtube after episode 1. So heavy Sad but at the same time amazing.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 26/04/2018 15:12

Just watched the first one as well. Jeez, bit stressed already. Channel 4 are making a bit mistake with a delay.

InionEile · 26/04/2018 15:30

I watched Episode 1 and some of Ep 2 last night and I was a bit... Hmm about some of it. A lot of close-ups of suffering women’s faces, gratuitous violence and OTT sadism. It was a bit Game of Thrones-y, which takes away from the main focus of the programme, which is the dystopian political story set out in Margaret Atwood’s book.

As a feminist, it worried me that the show producers are zeroing in on misogyny as entertainment rather than exploring the political dimension to the story of Gilead which is what made Season 1 so absorbing. We see enough shows on TV that exploit abuse of women’s bodies for entertainment without any higher purpose e.g. crime /detective stuff, GoT etc. I would hate for Handmaid’s Tale to turn into more of the same.

I had to fast forward through some of the scenes because they were too over-the-top, don’t want to say which ones because of spoilers.

ktel1 · 26/04/2018 16:03

InionEile. I felt the same way to a certain extent. I personally have no desire to watch unrelenting torture and suffering. I found myself fast forwarding some parts and then when it reached a particular scene I had enough and stopped watching.

eloisesparkle · 26/04/2018 18:20

I'll record it tonight on RTE to watch later. It looks like a double bill of it Shock

AcrossthePond55 · 26/04/2018 20:07

I watched the first two this morning, too. I admit, I watched Ep 1 and had to take a bit to 'digest' it, then I watched Ep 2 a few hours later.

I do like the direction it seems to be going. But no spoilers here.

StylishMummy · 26/04/2018 20:28

Absolutely can't wait for this, I want to rewatch S1!

HamAndTomato · 26/04/2018 22:01

I’m in New Zealand and the first two episodes available here from yesterday. Watched both last night. It’s excellent. Very disturbing. Superb acting. Wasn’t sure how it would go once it was continuing on from the book but excellent (and harrowing) so far.
