With a cameo from Toffs jungle camp mate Stanley! I know I shouldn’t watch this, I’m well aware I’m not the target audience, but I find it strangely compelling.....
Found tonight’s episode as infuriating as always - why on earth has little fat Fonz decided he needs to be in London to paint, and when did Tiny Tears get her lips done?

The whole episode looked like it had been filmed with one of the "beauty" filters from Instagram. Any scenes with natural daylight had extra lighting and had a soft blurry focus, it was very distracting.

NumbersStation · 26/03/2019 03:41

INTENSE Hmm

Pot. Kettle.

Anyway. The only thing more questionable than the misogynistic yap about girls they've banged, bonked, hooked up with, had sex with. shagged, blew, sucked, fluffed or ghosted, is the insistent need to act like prepubescent shit-stirring tits when you are knocking on the door of 40 30.

Poor five head. Not even 3 pots of Vaseline on the soft focus camera lens can hide that.

Sadly this show has actually died on its arse. Or had a poo done on it. Same difference.

jay55 · 26/03/2019 13:20

Dear Made in Chelsea,

Please, please, please let us get to know new characters before they become part of a cheating storyline.
It is very hard to tell them apart when all we know of them is who they have 'got with'.

Sincerely
Jay

MiddleClassProblem · 26/03/2019 13:39

Big play by MIC for another BAFTA by casting Chris Pine and Olivia Coleman.

Too many new people and I don’t know/like James well enough to care about him having his own plot line.

I feel like a lot of the older cast have decided to put themselves out there less and as a result we are getting these young, plot fodder in.

Not sure it works.

Sedgewick · 26/03/2019 13:56

Agree with Jay55. Why am I supposed to care about James Taylor (NOT the musician) cheating on Eliza when I don't know or care about either of them? Neither have strong personalities so far.

We know Miles a bit so it will be quite funny watching him squirm under the terrifying gaze of his french lover.

Even so the whole point is you're supposed to care about the characters in order to mind that they've been cheated on or betrayed in some way. I genuinely found it upsetting to see Binky in pieces about Alex M cheating on her back in the day. Also felt sorry for Louise who was quite a sweet and unconfident girl when she was with Spencer and didn't deserve to be made to feel like she was mad or paranoid in not trusting him. Obvs my sympathy quickly moved to Andy when she later played him!

I doubt I will feel anything much about the newbies. But its early days. First ever episode of MiC was shocking and it did get better.

jay55 · 26/03/2019 14:38

In the first episode or two all the characters were introduced with what they did, they all disapproved of Cheska and her blog, Amber moon face was flogging jewellery, Caggie wanted to be a singer and Spence was still billed as a trader. Binky was notorious for being fired from pa and admin work. It gave them all something other than sex to talk about.

Now none of the new ones seem to do anything. They're just using mic as a launchpad, which is fine, if they bloody entertain us first.

Sedgewick · 26/03/2019 15:02

All true, Jay. They gave us a bit of context as to who they were and what they were doing with their lives. But for me the key bit is that large groups of the original MiC cast were really close friends. They all knew each other since childhood and so if a loyalty was betrayed it actually meant something. Also they had strong personalities. Jamie, Spencer, Lucy, Sam, they all are very memorable whether you like them or not.

And then you had oddball characters like Boulle although I do think Amelia might be a bit of a likeable oddball.

But James Thomas and Eliza - no! Boring. And Melissa and Habbs are very sweet but I wouldn't call them strong characters. And so since none of them knew each other before the show, why pick them? Out of all the people in Chelsea.

How hard can it be to get a group of attractive fun people from Chelsea who are longtime friends to join the show?

On a hopeful note MiC does generally get rid of bland characters and keeps the stronger ones. Remember Sam Prince and those 2 girls that went out with him? Probably not and they are gone because of it. Whereas the Livs and Sams of this world are given a lot more airtime as they put themselves out there.

I noticed in the trailer for next week that Fred will be dating a newbie. If he has an actual relationship on the show that will be worth watching.

Isth · 26/03/2019 15:19

That’s so true!! They used to have more about them than just shagging each other, and that’s what made it entertaining, we got invested in them much more. I don’t care about three people who’s names I don’t even remember having some sort of dull love triangle.

Jiggles101 · 26/03/2019 20:46

MiddleClassProblem I don't know who Chris Pine is but Olivia Coleman is spot on! Especially Sophie in Peep Show.

MiddleClassProblem · 26/03/2019 21:05

I find it makes Amelia quite endearing as a result.

I think Eliza looks like Chris Pine.

(I’ve had to google their names for this post...)

Sedgewick · 26/03/2019 21:12

I also have no idea who Chris Pine is. When I googled I got an American chap!

MiddleClassProblem · 26/03/2019 21:37

An American chap who looks like Eliza

NumbersStation · 27/03/2019 01:36

Are we supposed to care about Eliza (not the dame from Pygmalion)?
I don't care but I worry she won't find a hat to fit.

Are we supposed to care about Miles (not the trumpeter)?
I don't care. His baws will rot off by the time he is 30.

Are we supposed to care about Binky (not the horse from Discworld)?
I don't care. She was a nasty madam and she isn't in it anymore.

Are we supposed to care about Alex M (not the Scotland manager)?
I don't care. He has lego hair.

Are we supposed to care about Louise (not the singer)?
I don't care. She gave athlete's foot a new meaning.

Are we supposed to care about Spencer (not the actor)?
I don't care. He isn't in it any more.

Are we supposed to care about Andy (not Looby's pal)?
I don't care. He isn't in it any more.

But as sure as shit his flaring nostrils can sniff out a shite blog at 300 paces...

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/03/2019 14:39

very true @jay - they had lives in the first few series

now they just drag in anyone/bit like towie

so james whisks eliza off to paris for a first date

liv loves digby again

lots of newbies

and where are tt and jgg

i want their wedding date and wedding filmed

sagradafamiliar · 29/03/2019 16:06

I've never cared about any of them tbh, I'm just in it for the entertainment. Not that I wish they ill or anything!

NumbersStation · 29/03/2019 18:03

I'm struggling to find the entertainment really.

The whole Ligby thing is draining not fun.

I do quite like looking for her top teeth though. It is quite a skill to talk and only show your bottom gnashers. It is like a form of oral constipation I imagine.

CarolDanvers · 29/03/2019 19:26

Oh I actually really enjoyed watching James squirm Grin

Sux2buthen · 30/03/2019 08:32

I enjoyed the James bit, he didn't have a leg to stand on. St least this episode had some mildly amusing parts. I'll still watch it but it's not at its best anymore

Sedgewick · 01/04/2019 20:42

Well MIC's back on in about 20 mins. Hoping the second episode beats the first.

Here's a funny review from Daily Mail on the first episode, no I don't usually read it but it was entertaining: dailym.ai/2FGam2P

And then this review shows you that nothings really changed though it feels like it has: bit.ly/2Ug22Bi

Plus a bit of an interesting development as Made in Chelsea now has a podcast! Might be a bit more informal and revealing than the show.
Sophie H says that Verity is a full of herself but is that true or is it just because Fred's due to be taking Verity on a date?

Maeva gets a bit upset on it so I guess things are not going too well with Miles, not sure how far in advance the show airs.

itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/made-in-chelsea-the-m-i-c-drop/id1456649071

I enjoyed the podcast because Jamie's hosting but it needs to be longer. 20 mins isn't enough time.

sagradafamiliar · 01/04/2019 22:05

Maeva better not be heading back to Paris anytime soon she is awesome!

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 01/04/2019 22:11

Crikey! That dress ! And underwear !
Lucky Miles.

Sedgewick · 01/04/2019 22:25

She is. But she's also using sex as a means of trying to get a guy who she's in love with to love her back. And he is blatantly only interested in sex! I think Habbs is a bit conservative so she's probably horrified that this girl has stripped down to her undies in HER living room!

I think Maeva's brilliant though, love her! Just wish she'd fall for someone other than Miles.

Date between Fred and Verity was a bit disappointing. He couldn't have been less attracted. Guessing he prefers the ice queen type and Verity is a bit too bubbly?

jay55 · 01/04/2019 22:30

I thought Fred was jolly polite on the date, though yea clearly not interested. Any of the other mic men would have just started chatting up someone at another table and left with them.

Maeva was pretty full on, hope she goes full Lucy Watson and complains about people in her grill.

Sedgewick · 01/04/2019 22:39

Oh Fred was VERY polite. Was just disappointed because if he has a relationship he'd finally have a central role for once!

From the trailer looks like Verity is actually falling for James again despite him telling her she made it so easy to treat her badly. Not sure why she'd even want to be friends with him. Does everyone think he's irresistible or something? Don't get it.

Also looks like he got over Eliza in heartbeat given he's going to be dating that other new blonde girl whose name I forget. Wish more of the females were players. This is why I liked Liv. A bit tired of seeing all the women in Chelsea getting used and laughed at.

Hoping Maeva gets over Miles, sticks to her guns and gives the guys hell.

CarolDanvers · 02/04/2019 08:46

At this very minute I am walking my dog in the same park as Tristan. He has a Jack Russell I think, and he stroked my dog and smiled at me. He seems a pleasant chap. No photo as just too stalkerish if he saw me.
