Mine was watching England vs Germany in 2001 with my dad and uncle while my mum and aunt went to the pub

Watching snooker on a B&W TV. Added an element of surprise trying to work out which coloured ball was which. Grin

RustyBear · 07/03/2018 23:00

@BlueBagoo - but then you had commentator Ted Lowe, who famously told viewers “ "Steve is going for the pink ball - and for those of you who are watching in black and white, the pink is next to the green."

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 07/03/2018 23:10

For some reason, best known to my three year old self, I sunk my teeth into my poor Dad’s big toe. He screamed. Loudly. The Rockford Files was on, theme tune in the background, I remember it distinctly. It was 1974. Not just my first tv memory but my first memory ever. He didn’t even tell me off Shock

Twistofanxiety · 07/03/2018 23:14

Here we go loopy loo. Here we go loopy lie... Andy Pandy ( the original in black and white) while mum is telling me to eat my peas.

MayFayner · 07/03/2018 23:14

Bod
The Flumps
Playschool
Bagpuss
and this boring grown-up thing that came on afterwards, The Sullivans I think.

BothersomeCrow · 07/03/2018 23:19

Fingermouse/Fingerbobs, You and Me, Sesame Street.

My parents now find it hysterical that there are Muppets in Belfast (Big City Park) who Skype Bert and Ernie, who obviously haven't aged in 50 years!

deste · 07/03/2018 23:26

@insancerre - Andy Pandy was originally 1950s. It’s one of my first memories, along with Picture Book, The Flowerpot Men, Rag, Tag and Bobtail and The Woodentops.

Same here , what about Muffin the Mule, Fingerbobs, Sooty and Sweep, the Siver Sword. I’m sure I’ll think of more.

Dancing wildly to Charlie Chalke and demanding it be played over and over again.

We recently bought the DVD for DS and it seems SO OLD

sunshinestorm · 08/03/2018 00:21

Zzzap, weird comic book style kids programme on CITV, early 90s

MadisonAvenue · 08/03/2018 00:31

Mary, Mungo and Midge - I seem to remember an episode where Mary broke her leg and it freaked me out!

Hector's House is another early TV memory. Hector's voice scared me and I'm told that I used to hide behind the sofa.

BitOfFun · 08/03/2018 00:35

I don't recall one show in particular, but a few. The Flumps, Playschool, Paint Along With Nancy, and Crown Court (which I'd love to believe was an early precursor to Judge Rinder Grin). These were all shows on before I started nursery.

ktel1 · 08/03/2018 01:17

The Banana Splits

BitOfFun · 08/03/2018 02:10

Na-na-na, na-na-na-nah Grin

Cavender · 08/03/2018 02:15

My very first memory of TV is watching You and Me at about three years old.

Slapdasherie · 08/03/2018 02:21

The Bugaloos.

tobee · 08/03/2018 03:30

Andy Pandy (I had a puppet of him too.)
Noggin the Nog.

Babdoc · 08/03/2018 03:49

Fireball XL5, Tales of the Riverbank, Rag Tag and Bobtail, Bill and Ben the Flowerpot Men.
The first episode of Doctor Who, with William Hartnell as the doctor. The first episode of Coronation Street. All of the above in black and white of course, on a tiny TV set.

Wackaday

GrimDamnFanjo · 08/03/2018 07:28

Stingray? A thunderbirds spinoff? I think I was about two?

movingtowardsthelight · 08/03/2018 10:47

Mine was in 1974 watching the Greatest Circus.

We were visiting my my great uncle and my dad asked him why he was watching television in black and white when the TV he had was also colour! My dad tweaked the knobs at the back at there was colour.

Not sure why it was in black and white, maybe the delivery men had set it up wrong.

He was delighted and we all sat down to watch a colour film!

movingtowardsthelight · 08/03/2018 10:48

I should add it was a treat as we didn't own a television ourselves. Probably why I remember it.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 08/03/2018 10:50
