I’m so ancient that there were only 3 channels when I was a kid, and for most of the time they showed the Test Card. For some reason, I thought the girl was naked! Anyway :

Playschool, with Brian Cant, Big Ted & Little Ted.
Magic Roundabout. They were all on drugs.
Tiswas; anarchic mayhem on Saturday mornings.

FoofFighter · 10/03/2018 21:50

More the memory of hearing the tv when I was in bed. The bongs on the news at ten, themes from Dr Who and World in Action scaring me.

I do remember Ch4 starting and watching Dangermouse when I got in from school.

Vaguely remember watching Rainbow as a preschooler.

LardLizard · 10/03/2018 22:38

I've just read a few other replies. I thought it was called The Herb Garden. Parsley the lion et al. Was it just The Herbs?

I also remember that (although I didn't watch it, being a child) my mother was hooked on a soap called "Compact" . I just looked it up and it finished in 1965. Shock

LouiseBrooks · 11/03/2018 12:00

My earliest -
Button moon
Playschool
Playaway

My favourite
The half five slot before neighbours took that slot -
Dr Kildare
Kids from Fame
The Flintstones (though tbh that was just tedious)

maddiemookins16mum · 17/03/2018 15:21

I vaguely remember the moon landings, in black and white. Plus the usual late 60's kids' tv like Play School, Trumpton etc.
I also remember stuff we weren't allowed to watch like The Brothers, Poldark (the proper one) and The Onedin Line.......I think Mum just wanted some quiet to enjoy it without us three squawking.

yikesanotherbooboo · 17/03/2018 19:13

Watch with Mother: the Woodentops, pipkin, camberwick green and Andy pandy
Later trump Tom,
I remember watching the moon landings whilst away on holiday and the whole school gathering in front of a small television to watch prince Charles investiture as prince of Wales!

MrWilliamo · 14/04/2018 18:47

Bayern Munich vs Man United Champions League Final 1999

UrbiEtOrbi · 16/04/2018 07:42

Off school sick, watching Mary, Mungo and Midge.

shouldnthavesaid · 17/04/2018 05:50

The Riddlers, a very odd programme about puppets from Yorkshire..

Also Wizadora and Alphabet Castle, and funnily enough Casualty and Father Ted.

AlessandroVasectomi · 17/04/2018 09:05

Muffin the Mule in the early 1950s - when there was only the BBC. When ITV was introduced in 1956 one of the great novelties was the adverts with catchy jingles. It was all so relaxed after the stuffed shirt BBC and many people refused to watch it, but there were new and better children’s programmes such as Rin-Tin-Tin and Popeye.
