CoolCarrie I don't know if I have a false memory of watching Armstrong on the moon, or if I did actually watch it live. I was 2.

BitOfFun I remember Crown Court and Paint Along With Nancy too! There was Good Afternoon too (I think that was what it was called).

Nifflerbowtruckle · 08/03/2018 11:06

That bbc test card used to terrify me. I used to watch el nombre, come outside and tots tv. Every Saturday I would stay with my auntie and watch Madeleine on a Sunday morning.

LightastheBreeze · 08/03/2018 12:25

Picture book, Andy Pandy, Flowerpot Men, Tales of the Riverbank, probably about 1961-1962 as that was when we had our first telly and before I had started school

A cartoon called Ludwig, watched on a b&w television set when I was 4 or 5.

Ah yes the test card with the girl playing noughts and crosses and that scary looking clown thing I could watch it for hours , I remember watching a laurel and hardy film with my mum I must have been about three or four because I hadent started school yet , I also remember watching cracker Jack on a black and white tv when the man came with the new colour tv (my mum and dad rented the tv) and all of sudden stew pots t shirt was yellow .

Born in ‘75. Remember Wordy from Words and Pictures, Playschool, Pebble Mill (boring), Dr Who with Tom Baker (I definitely hid behind the sofa during the theme tune but everyone claims they did that Grin), the Pink Panther cartoon, Chorlton and the Wheelies (also scary), a daytime programme with ladies in saris (Asian magazine?), Mr Benn, Mr Men, Flumps, Rainbow, the Anglia tv and Thames tv logos.

Mamaohana · 08/03/2018 23:00

Oh not forgetting Jamie and the magic torch.

haverhill · 08/03/2018 23:02

The Tomorrow People. The credits scared me, as did the credits for How. A big deep voice said ‘HOW!’; scary stuff at 4. And a bleak dystopian drama called The Changes. Kids’ TV in the 70s could be frightening!

Mammyloveswine · 08/03/2018 23:02

Im sure i watched loads before but i can remember watching the lottery launch show with my dad and asking him if the lottery would just be drawn every week, forever!

Another, my dad took me and my sister with him while he did some DIY for a friend. We watched a film about a unicorn but never got to see the end, we still talk about it now and how gutted we were... Blush

(Having just looked it up to confirm the date) October 1964 just after my 5th birthday - watching the BBC coverage of the Tokyo Olympics - can’t remember the sports coverage other than blurred images on our tiny B&W tv (not even sure I understood what the Olympics was) but I can still hear the theme tune as if it was yesterday. https://theolympians.co/tag/bbc-theme-song/

In terms of adult TV, I think my first memories are Emergency Ward 10 and Dr Finlay's casebook, closely followed by Z Cars.

Defender90 · 09/03/2018 00:16

Watching wrestling on my great grans tv. She was a massive Big Daddy fan.

Back in those days, I was the remote controlGrin

x2boys · 09/03/2018 06:55

I was born in 1973 there was far less children's tv in the 70,s and 80,s just a bit of watch with Mother and play school ,and in the early evenings the magic roundabout , Ivor the engine etc for a bit before bed , there was a bit more in the 80,s , CBBC and CITV for an hour or two after school and Saturday morning tv , but no dedicated children's channels , I was watching some very serious things from a young age .

Thirtyrock39 · 09/03/2018 18:08

Watching Wimbledon on our black and white tv (early 80s) and convincing myself the grass showed as green even though a b/w tv!

LesLavandes · 09/03/2018 18:10

Bill and Ben, Flowerpot Men.1950s, no telly at home, invited after school to play at little boy 's house, and we watched Bill and Ben. I never stopped talking about it afterwards!

HappydaysArehere · 10/03/2018 18:49

The Coronation on a 9 inch black and white tv.

augustusglupe · 10/03/2018 20:54

Playschool and watch with mother.

junebirthdaygirl · 10/03/2018 21:06

We had no tv so only saw it in my gms house. My teenage aunties were watching Rich man Poor man . I was fascinated. I would love to see it again. Nick Nolte was in it. My dm would have had a fit if she knew they alloed me to watch it. Thats my earliest memory. Never watched cartoons or childrens programmes when young.
