How can Steven have started work the day after Fletch told him to apply for the job? no DBS check? I know people who have waited weeks to start a job in the NHS by the time the process has been gone through.

I thought it was a 3 month recovery for a hysterectomy, without the fact Essie had ovarian cancer as well - no follow up treatment/chemo then? Jac will no doubt be up and about again in a week performing surgery. Her and Fletch can finally have a romantic meal together where they can exchange parenting tips.

Steven not being able to help with childcare won't be a problem because Fletch has the amazing nanny that Jac gave him, the one that was affordable and available at the start of the school holidays and just waiting for his phone call......if I was a single parent struggling with childcare for the holidays I would have put my foot through the TV screen at that point!

Holby really do take the piss with these unrealistic story lines, they make no effort at all to reflect real life.

MyOtherProfile · 16/08/2018 11:00

Is Steven the grandad? Does he just happen to be a nurse?

MargaretDribble · 16/08/2018 11:59

Stephen is a porter isn't he? No idea why his uniform isn't the same as Jason's. Maybe they just found one lying around.
Pretend Life this is the only soap I watch (except Doctors occasionally) but it is essential to suspend disbelief. Of course in the wonderful hospital that is Holby miracle cures happen, people get their old jobs back in a second and DBS checks are fast tracked -you wouldn't expect any less.

PretendLife · 16/08/2018 14:54

Steven is the Grandad and now a porter. Soaps are supposed to be about everyday life though aren't they......I gave up with Corrie and EE because eventually they run out of storylines and more and more traumatic things happen to the same characters so that it just becomes too unbelievable.

I get that they can't be exactly like real life or it would be boring but simple things like at least leaving an episode between Steven applying for a job and then starting work and Essie being out of it for a couple of weeks before being back at work would make much more sense.

The door to the roof of the hospital being unlocked for staff and patients to go up there as they please to have their angst ridden dramas is another one - no way would this happen - health and safety and all that - so find another place for them to go that would be more believable.

MargaretDribble · 16/08/2018 15:22

They do use the garden sometimes. But then the whole hospital might have time to look out and watch them, as in Dofty's proposal.Grin

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 16/08/2018 16:06

The most unrealistic storyline they've ever done is when there were 4 parking spaces right outside the hospital which were available for staff to park in Grin

Optimist1 · 21/08/2018 21:26

Whew - that episode was thick with moral dilemmas, wasn't it? No mention of how Jac's doing.

What puzzled me was why was Dr Duvet suggesting that Donna use Nicki's flat for her botox clinic? I know he bailed Nicki out a bit financially, but surely he doesn't think that entitles him to make use of her home? Did I miss something relevant to this?

OP posts:
MyOtherProfile · 21/08/2018 21:54

He probably suggested her flat because it's a set they have already used so they don't need to spend money on a new one!

frazzled3ds · 21/08/2018 22:04

Duvet is a tad creepy, gaskill is downright demented.....! Seems Sascha is heading for a breakdown, nice to see HH a bit more relaxed though :) hoping Roxanna manages to find out what's going on with the other sites in the trial.

PiggeryPorcombe · 22/08/2018 08:20

Yes I was totally Confused about the “just use Nicky’s room” thing too. And it wasn’t just a spare key he had, it was like her whole bunch of keys!? I assumed I’d missed something last week and she’d gone off on a course/leave/something unrealistic for a while.

Yy to no mention of Jac.

And where is Abi?

lovemyhorsesxo · 22/08/2018 13:44

Don’t care Henrik Hansen is officially my favourite character along with serena and ric.

ChoccyJules · 22/08/2018 14:58

The thing with Nicky’s keys made no sense. When he was seeing Meena he wouldn’t have had a whole bunch of keys, even if he had a key, which I doubt. It did make me feel he was appropriating the space given she owes him financially, but even then, why has he got her keys?!

Optimist1 · 22/08/2018 16:22

I'm relieved to know I wasn't the only one who couldn't see the sense of Duvet handing over the keys. On occasion my attention wanders and I've been known to miss a crucial scene, but this time obviously not! Smile

aaahhhBump · 22/08/2018 17:29

I think it might be Mina that tries to end her life rather than Sacha.

It'll be in her note about what happened with Gaskill and then that will all come out.

GertrudeCB · 22/08/2018 18:58

Gaskill is an arse. Hope Roxanna finds the evidence to blow him out of the water.

QueenofmyPrinces · 22/08/2018 23:16

Just caught up.

I’m equally confused as to why Duvet was handing over a whole bunch of keys? Is he allowed to just rent out Nicky’s room without her consent now? Or had he asked her? I was a bit confused by it all really. Does he like Donna??

Gaskill is like the modern Frankenstein. A totally crazy scientist!

I’m also wondering where Abi has gone.

I was expecting to see a follow on from Fletch and Jac after their romantic moment last week.

Does anyone else think Essie and Sacha will end up together again?

MyOtherProfile · 22/08/2018 23:45

Does anyone else think Essie and Sacha will end up together again?
Oh I wish they would. They seem a bit pointless apart.

MargaretDribble · 23/08/2018 06:57

Putting Essie and Sascha back together would be too obvious. Holby doesn't seem to deal in happy ever afters.

MyOtherProfile · 23/08/2018 07:53

They do seem to work together and it keeps them both out of the way though. Would stop S moping around. I hate that nobody gets a happy ending. There isn't anyone in a normal long term happy relationship is there?

QueenofmyPrinces · 23/08/2018 08:05

There isn't anyone in a normal long term happy relationship is there?

Jason and Greta seem quite happy Grin

I wish they would show more of Jason because I love his character.

I suppose Dazzle and Piglet are happy at the moment too but I imagine there will be some huge catastrophe at the wedding.

I would love to see Sacha and Essie together, I’m not a fan of them as individual characters but as a couple they seemed to work. It was far more believable than Essie and Raf anyway.

Do you think HH will be reinstated as CEO? I hope so - he seems too poised, important and special to simply be a doctor Grin

PiggeryPorcombe · 23/08/2018 08:18

Well I don’t see why not - Abi seems to have left anyway and nobody’s noticed. Looks like she was shoehorned in to give Fletch an alternative woman storyline and fill the gaps while HH was recovering.

MyOtherProfile · 23/08/2018 09:01

Jason and Greta seem quite happy
Yes! There's one happy long term couple! Shhh don't remind the powers that be or they'll split them up next week.

I suppose Dazzle and Piglet are happy at the moment
At the moment. They've only been together 5 minutes though so not long term yet. And yes, I'm sure you're right about the catastrophe.

I would love to see Sacha and Essie together, I’m not a fan of them as individual characters but as a couple they seemed to work. It was far more believable than Essie and Raf anyway.
This is exactly how I feel. Much more interesting together than apart and E and R was totally unconvincing.

Abi is a mystery. They should report her as missing to the police... if any of the staff remembered her.

PretendLife · 23/08/2018 10:24

Abi is still around as she was mentioned by Serena, last week maybe, when she said she had to get some figures to her?

I think Jac will be out of it for a while like she was before, perhaps Rosie Marcell needs a break. It would be too ridiculous even for Holby to have her back and working so soon after nearly dying - again...sigh....maybe Fletch is finally spending some time with his kids.

Dazzle and Piglet make me cringe. Essie and Sacha might as well get back together, no-one else wants them.

SleepingStandingUp · 24/08/2018 00:37

There's rumours about Rosie doing In a Celebrity....

QueenofmyPrinces · 24/08/2018 09:06

Really??

I’m not sure how I feel about that....

I would fear that her bitchy wonderful character which is so unbelievably life-like in Holby will be ruined forever if we see a nice and friendly Jac in the jungle...

Whenever Isee Jac giving somebody one of her bitchy comments I will know that it’s all an act, whereas at the moment I love thinking of her character as being a real person Grin
