It's the latest six-part Kay Mellor drama. It's about three women, Linda, Sue and Gail, as they - according to the official blurb - struggle with the changes and responsibilities that come with being a modern woman of a certain age. Phyllis Logan, Miranda Richardson and Zoë Wanamaker lead the cast.

Trailer here -

Anyone else going to be watching?

It's just a load of nonsense but I'm going to keep watching. I thought it was particularly bizarre when Paula Wilcox held down PL with a knife for ages - PW is so petite and could easily have been grabbed and thrown to the floor.

I'm enjoying it. It's hardly gritty realism, with plot lines ranging from stretching credibly to utterly ludicrous, but there are some touching moments. And I think Paula Wilcox is doing well with her character - I think she's having a ball with her! Towards the end of the last episode I thought we were on the way to having it all resolved, but presumably there's more unbelievable crap twists and turns to come if it's six episodes. It's an entertaining watch provided - like Tremendous said, you don't try to take it too seriously.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2018 19:42

slightly behind

so she did push/killhim

why didnt they just checkbody via teeth

southeastdweller · 31/01/2018 22:19

Anyone watch tonight's episode?

OP posts:
newhopewithanyluck · 31/01/2018 22:23

Yes I did, more ridiculous than ever!

Kinraddie · 01/02/2018 10:32

It was ridiculous but there were a couple of very moving scenes. I teared up when Gail and Dave were talking about her miscarriage and then laughed when Gail's mum knew exactly why they were going upstairs.

Farmerswife36 · 01/02/2018 23:25

Did she really kill him ? I'm so confused and don't know what to believe ? It's good but beyond ridiculous

Kinraddie · 02/02/2018 08:42

Yes, she's admitted to killing him Shock

Rokerwriter · 02/02/2018 13:39

Can someone tell me what bit of the plot I missed with regard to the daughter getting pregnant. Hasn't Neville Longbottom been in prison for a year or so and she's been working away on a cruise ship?

ForestFrump · 03/02/2018 12:59

I don't know why I'm still watching this.

It's painful and so fucking predictable. But I am enjoying between shouting at the TV.

Very pissed off at how they paint these women. Is this what we have to look forward to in life as women?

I love and gate this programme. Think it's a real shame it wasn't better when it could have easily been.

Roll on the next episode...... will the sleeping tablets in the case be illegal, how many more times will she say "I pushed him over board...... just enough until someone heard her......

Wilma55 · 03/02/2018 13:04

roker they were both there at the lead up to the "funeral" and dI'd the deed. He missed his curfew and hot banged up again she went back on the cruise ship.

southeastdweller · 03/02/2018 17:10

I agree the scene with Gail and Dave was good but the rest is just crap. It's brain dead TV...and yet I watch every week...

OP posts:
Umakemefeellikedancing · 03/02/2018 21:28

It sure what's going to happen next. Bit odd how she killed him and keeps going on about it in earshot of everybody

Umakemefeellikedancing · 03/02/2018 21:28

Not sure I should say

Purplemond · 04/02/2018 10:37

is next week the last episode ? i wouldnt be suprised with an absurd ending

SylvesterTheCat · 04/02/2018 14:35

@Blondeshavemorefun reckons the husband is still alive. I think I'm heading towards that conclusion too Grin
Wouldn't it be just the best cherry on top to end all of these shenanigans!

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/02/2018 15:14

i do wonder if he is alive

tho she did say she hated himand pushed him......

tho he may have survived

southeastdweller · 04/02/2018 15:33

I think it's obvious he survived. Fits in with the rest of the implausible crap and I can't see Kay Mellor making Linda more unsympathetic.

OP posts:
Dozer · 04/02/2018 19:42

Soooo so bad. Kay Mellor could surely write something so much better, or if not the commissioning editor give someone else a chance!

Rokerwriter · 05/02/2018 10:59

Wilma55 thank you, I must have missed all that. To me, it partly feels like it's happening in a short space of time, but then there's suddenly someone who's managed to get pregnant and know it, so it must be taking place over some weeks. Or maybe I'm far more invested than it deserves.

Margomyhero · 07/02/2018 22:02

Was this the final episode?

Not a great ending imo.

Still e njoyed watching it though.

mirage937 · 07/02/2018 22:26

i watched the full series but it was not was i was expecting from Kay Mellor, i take it they left it open for another series with the floating suitcase but who knows how bizarre that would be, probably hijack the cruise ship

Timefortea99 · 07/02/2018 22:30

Think there is another episode. This was ep 5 and imbd says there are 6. Escapist nonsense. Just right for a midweek.

southeastdweller · 07/02/2018 22:32

No, that was the last one.

OP posts:
Timefortea99 · 07/02/2018 22:38

Yes, you mistake. That is the last one. Oh dear. It was a silly series with a silly ending but kept me amused. Zoe W and Miranda R's hammy acting was a joy to behold!
