Oh. Ok Fuzzy

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross I'm not sure what was printed re a "meltdown" but from her tweet it seems to refer to an incident in the green room after the show...we didn't see anything like that as we had to leave the studio.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if the press heard about her being upset during the recording and magically invented a diva meltdown from it.

During the recording that was absolutely not the case and I think the audience were very sympathetic to what seemed to be genuine upset/distress.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 04/12/2017 17:44

The press do seem to be very vocal this year about all sorts of things - AB has had a meltdown, Debbie has had a meltdown, Mollie and AJ, Gemma and Gorka, Gorka and Alexandra falling out over Gemma and Gorka...

Am I imagining it or is this the most poisonous the tabloids have been about Strictly for a while?

CeeBeeBee · 04/12/2017 17:51

They do seem to be particularly vitriolic this year. There’s always a nasty story about someone everyday.

pinkteddy · 04/12/2017 18:39

Re AB, I think most people would think of a meltdown as a diva strop rather than being really upset about a thoughtless comment from Craig. Its another way the press have of being quite sinister and sexist. A man wouldn't have a meltdown!

The Daily Fail print sales have dropped dramatically apparently which is perhaps why they are constantly fishing for scandal?

GrouchyKiwi · 04/12/2017 18:42

Westie I missed upthread that you had been at the show. Thanks for the insider scoop!

I really feel for Alexandra and think she's doing an amazing job under the circumstances and is much, much more composed than I would be.

And agree that the press seems to be bizarrely invested in everything this year. Like there isn't other crap going on that they could write about...

Raisedbyguineapigs · 04/12/2017 19:01

I think the waning of the X factor might have something to do with it. The Daily Mail own some of ITV, so if their show is being roundly trounced by their arch enemy the BBC, they will always be a bit snide. Added to that, interest in the X factor seems to be at an all time low this year, so they are putting their attention elsewhere.

CaveMum · 04/12/2017 19:33

Janette and Aljaz have given an interview in Ok Magazine about their plans to start a family, so I’m guessing, all being well, Janette won’t be back next year.

Disclaimer - Janette tweeted a picture of the Ok front page, I haven’t bought the magazine Grin

ShirleyPhallus · 04/12/2017 20:06

I love Jannette and Aliaz Independently but for some reason can’t really imagine them as a couple!

ShirleyPhallus · 04/12/2017 20:06

Spelt both their names wrong Blush

babyinthacorner · 04/12/2017 20:19

Love this thread! Long time lurker, but had to come out just to say to ExConstance - if your Granny's homophobic she DEFINITELY shouldn't be voting for Joe! 😉

MissEliza · 04/12/2017 20:27

AB is an excellent dancer but I think the public like to see a bit of a journey. She was outstanding from day one and that's a bit boring. Also I feel she never gets any criticism but that may be my imagination. I also can't stand her and Debbie's false modesty.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I want Jioe to win. We originally were rooting for Aston but we all know what happened there!

Horsemad · 04/12/2017 20:30

Do we know for sure who it was who had the ONS?
I wondered if it was AB & Gorka as something's gone wrong there; the body language is very telling and I haven't seen AB's boyfriend in the audience for a couple of weeks...

CeeBeeBee · 04/12/2017 20:53

AB's boyfriend was in the VT for last week's rumba and wasn't he in Blackpool too?

I think the ONS story is a red herring.

Horsemad · 04/12/2017 21:03

I must have missed the CeeBeeBee I wouldn't be at all surprised if the ONS was a red herring Wink

scrabbler3 · 04/12/2017 22:35

I thought the ONS might have been a PR plant, but a couple of tweets have hinted at the identity of one of the parties. I also suspected a Mollie/AJ "showmance" because I thought AJ was gay, but Claudia's joke about kissing implied that it may be true (I can't really see Claudia going along with fake news).

I'm usually uninterested in sleb gossip but with SCD I feel quite invested! Weird really.

It's nice when two singletons form a relationship. I'm really hoping that Debbie and Giovanni are together, same with Gorka and Gemma, if that's what makes them happy. Can't stand it when marriages are affected though.

pinkteddy · 04/12/2017 22:38

Zoe has tweeted 'be kind everyone' in relation to strictly so there has obviously been some hate on twitter. Disclaimer, I got this via my husband as I don't do twitter!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 05/12/2017 08:17

Monkseal very funny this week, especially on poor Davood’s routine.

digerd · 05/12/2017 09:05

Did anyone else notice Gethin being touchy feely sitting next to Alex some weeks ago?

digerd · 05/12/2017 09:18

I found Mollie and AJ's rumba delightful. Agreed with Bruno and can understand the public voting for them.

I think that the Charleston just wasn't AB's style of dance, as I suspect the Jive will not be Debbie's but she will be super with the graceful, flowing Foxtrot.

I do feel sorry for Davood and would have liked him in the final.

derxa · 05/12/2017 10:01

I loved Joe's film when he went back to his old school. C'mon Joe

TheHolidayArmadillo · 05/12/2017 10:13

Team Joe here too now.

AB is tricky. I'm not a fan, but I do wonder what makes her so different from other celebs, and I really do think that she very rarely comes across as being interesting/having personality/a sense of humour. Much like Mollie - but I think she's staying in because people want to see if her and AJ will snog.

She comes across as insincere/a bit X-Factor. So where some people (i.e. Susan) talk about how much they love being on the show, when AB says it, it sounds like it's something she's saying because she thinks she should. Debbie looks interested when the judges speak to her, and (I know it might sound daft to say) it looks like she takes in criticisms when they come her way, and she actually looks properly happy when she gets praise. And again, a lot of other couples genuinely look like they have a good thing going with their partnership, which is obvious and lacking for AB and Gorka.

Ironically, I think if Alexandra cared less about how she came across and was just herself, assuming there is a sense of humour in there somewhere, she'd probably get more of the public vote.

FuzzyCustard · 05/12/2017 10:16

I think you're right, Armadillo

Theromanempire · 05/12/2017 10:25

Good analysis Armadillo I think she is just so earnest which can easily come across as fake and insincere and I can understand why the public aren't keen. I watched her auditions for the X Factor (both the 2005 and 2008 ones) and she is exactly the same in those. Kept saying 'thank you' every time the judges praised her - what I would say, that whatever my thoughts on her personality are, she can bloody well sing!! She was amazing in the Bodyguard when I went to see it so she is fabulous at her 'day job'.

I think Armadillo has hit the nail on the head - I cannot remember her making any jokey/sarcastic comments at all (disclaimer, I do not watch ITT so she may well portray herself differently on there). It is like she has no sense of humour at all which is just weird and maybe why Gorka is finding it difficult. I cannot imagine spending hours and hours a day with someone who doesn't 'get' humour Xmas Hmm

TimFromRuislip · 05/12/2017 10:25

I dreamt I was on Strictly last night. I was dancing with Katya!! We were a same sex couple but it didn't really seem to matter. I did ok for a few weeks, but one week I could barely remember the steps and I just fudged it most of the way through. So obviously we were in the dance off. Though as I still couldn't remember the steps and the other couple in the DO were brilliant (might have been Alexandra) and I was really tired, I said could we skip the DO?! I told them that the dance wouldn't be any better and that we'd definitely be leaving anyway and they said ok. Katya was brilliant though, even in my dream she lived up to expectations. Just thought I'd share that with the group Grin
