I really liked seeing Alexandra's exuberance at getting through as well! I'm glad she didn't try and hold back for fear of having her reaction dissected.

MrsJayy · 11/12/2017 10:48

I actually thought Alexandra reaction to getting to the final was the most genuine all series she is so ott dramatic that her reaction seemed quite reservered.

bibliomania · 11/12/2017 10:49

I agree, exuberant Alexandra is honest and great and much more endearing than humble and grateful Alexandra.

Figgygal · 11/12/2017 12:05

I have no idea what's going to happen but I'm really looking forward to it

LisaMed1 · 11/12/2017 12:10

I'm not particularly invested in Paul Daniels, but he did campaign for women to be allowed into the Magic Circle - and I think Debbie was a member.

Is it me, but does it look like Giovanni has a crush on Debbie which isn't really returned?

I don't know much about dancing, I just like watching it and I wish they showed competitive dancing. I used to see it on Eurosport, but haven't been near a sports channel for a while.

SoupDragon · 11/12/2017 12:13

I’m no Cliftons fan but that is just bollocks. Moving to the states is SO fucking hard, you can’t just get dumped and decide you’re off.

He's American.

Swannykazoo · 11/12/2017 12:44

Cooeee. I can't believe its going to be the final "it takes 2" week and the final on Saturday. Better get some fizz and a lovely frock with some godets in.

TheDrsDocMartens · 11/12/2017 12:57

Joe and Katya said on R2 this morning that they are all dancing 3 dances.

yzzle · 11/12/2017 13:07

Apparently they've changed the format this year so they don't eliminate 4th place before they all reprise their final dances. I quite like that, I wanted to see Sophie's Charleston and Katie's Viennese Waltz again!

CeeBeeBee · 11/12/2017 13:20

So no one gets eliminated then? I think that’s a better idea.

blueskyinmarch · 11/12/2017 13:21

I am liking this new format. All four dancers in it to the end then we get to choose the winner.

RhiannonOHara · 11/12/2017 13:22

Oh, I quite like when someone gets eliminated. Grin

I think it's interesting because it gives an indication of who people are really voting for.

Then again I am possibly a bit unhealthily interested in the political science of Strictly and its voting.

maddiemookins16mum · 11/12/2017 13:24

I used to feel a bit sorry for the couple eliminated a few years ago who never got to do their show dance.

MrsJayy · 11/12/2017 13:29

I am going outout next saturday I am thinking about suddenly coming down with a bug so I can stay home for the final Grin

TheDrsDocMartens · 11/12/2017 13:34

They do the show dance now don’t they?
I like that you get to vote twice normally

morningtoncrescent62 · 11/12/2017 14:33

I'm glad no-one's being eliminated in the final because it seems so cruel to get all hyped up about your show dance then not be able to do it. I could never see the logic - it didn't add to the excitement or anything, just the disappointment if your faves went out.

I'm so pleased Gemma went through. I think she's great, and I love Alijaz with her - I never had any sense of him before. Plus Monkseal is so funny (but not in a cruel way) about her being Ded Northern Relatable and it would be a shame to miss out on that for the final Glitterball. I warmed to Molly in her leaving speech far more than I have all series - she was so gracious. It'll be a relief not to have Tess patronising her through the finals, though.

Biggest disappointment is that the final is a week early Angry. Come on, Beeb, what's that about? The strictly final is the start of Christmas proper, it has to be on the Saturday before Christmas. What could they possibly have that would be more Christmassy for the 23rd? [shakes head in dismay]

Anyone else hoping that whatever the professional dance on finals day happens to be, it has a great big ginormous solo part for Oti?

The80sweregreat · 11/12/2017 15:56

Mollie was very gracious i agree. I thought they all danced really well on saturday - i would love Joe to win but not that bothered who does as they have all been very good - its a very stressful reality show to be on and i bet they are all looking forwards to a break after the final.
Its been up and down, but very enjoyable and most of the costumes have been really great. A high standard all round I think.

Ceto · 11/12/2017 16:27

Last year they all got to do their show dance, but the eliminated person didn't go on to do their choice of dance at the end. I think it may have been like that for at least a couple of years, it's why we got cheated out of a repeat of Sophie E-B's charleston.

I suspect Joe may win on the basis that Katya really knows how to choreograph a crowd pleaser - though Giovanni does some brilliant choreography when he puts his mind to it. I never understand why the pros don't learn from Camilla Dallerup, it was definitely her show dance that won it for Tom Chambers.

Ceto · 11/12/2017 16:28

I must say, when Tess kept gushing about how sweet Mollie and AJ were, I was quite impressed that they managed not to hit her.

RhiannonOHara · 11/12/2017 16:31

Totally agree with this. A crowd pleaser but also something that plays to her partner's strengths.

I agree about Camilla too; I knew Tom Chambers had won it as soon as his show dance started.I'd add that Joanne did the same for her and Ore last year.

The show dance that disproves this rule is Jay and Aliona's. I was Confused about it at the time and I'm still Confused now!

yzzle · 11/12/2017 16:50

I've been very impressed with Giovanni this year- his choreography has been excellent and tailored well to Debbie (so naturally a bit less 'flashy' than Katya's who has more of a showman for a partner). I think the pros have increasingly difficult jobs these days because half the job is done for you if you luck out with a good song choice. And then sometimes you get stuck with a Black Eyed Peas Tango or a Cabaret Samba. I doff my cap to them.

Last year was really the only year I can remember where the performances in the final made any difference to the result. Tom Chambers was always going to win anyway up against Lisa and Rachel, Jay could've sat on the floor and won, but Danny was the odds on favourite over Ore. It's often said that Erin lost the final for Colin Jackson with their bizarre puppet showdance, but apparently even in that case Darren Gough had been topping the vote for weeks.
