Reading- I agree that AJ has been looking af Mollie intensely. I am a bit surprised but the gay rumours as I honestly don’t get those vibes from him. I think that he may have a little crush on Mollie which they are all aware of. This may explain why Claudia
continues to insinuate that something is going on.

CotswoldStrife · 10/12/2017 12:46

Having watched the Strictly mini-vid of the highlights this morning, I can confirm that Bruno said he would judge next week wearing Darcy's tutu with no knickers and a tiara if Debbie wasn't in the final.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/12/2017 12:47

If that's right Serviced, then they are being very unkind to him by teasing him about it all the time.

I'm going for a lie-down now, as I have just watched that scoring video, and Hard Sums* always does my head in Confused

*Auto-cockup had changed this to Hard Puma, but I managed to foil its evil plant this time

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/12/2017 12:48

That will have more than quintupled Debbeh's vote - she would have all three of mine to avoid that horror!

Ceto · 10/12/2017 13:06

most damningly, they claim that the tie situation prioritises the judges when it actually favours the public, as is clear from their example with and without the tie scoring system.

Does it? On the example they gave - of Alexandra tying with Gemma on the combination of audience + judges' votes and therefore losing out because her audience votes are lower, she wouldn't be in that situation but for the fact that Gemma has one extra point via the judges' votes. She would be one point ahead and therefore audience votes wouldn't come into it, and Gemma would have been in the dance-off.

CotswoldStrife · 10/12/2017 13:09

Probably right Schadenfreude because knowing Bruno he would actually do it. Tess wasn't laughing at the time, she probably had the image of it running through her head Xmas Grin

EvilRingahBitch · 10/12/2017 13:30

It doesn’t matter if the judges give more actual points than the public - what matters is the difference between top and bottom. The current tie system means that if there are two ties on a leader board of six couples then the judges have only given their favourites a head start of 3 points (6 for top place vs 3 for the bottom) whilst the public can give a 5 point advantage to their favourite (6 for top and 1 for bottom).

To give a bonkers example, if the judges were giving out points of 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106 and the public were scoring 2,4,6,8,10,12 then the public would have far more power even though the judges would be giving more points.

ReadingIsFundamental · 10/12/2017 13:34

To my mind, the teasing on the show suggests that something is going on between AJ and Mollie. I don’t think Claudia would be so cruel as to tease in front of millions if it was an unrequited crush. (Well, I hope she wouldn’t)
I may be mis-remembering, but the only times I recall several comments about pros and celebs liking each other are the times when relationships did develop - so Artem and Kara, Brian and Ali, Flavia and Matt. The tabloids have a field-day every year, but I think those rumours are usually not referenced on the show itself.

Figgygal · 10/12/2017 13:37

I really hope Alexandra isn't in the do this week she certainly doesn't deserve it

maddiemookins16mum · 10/12/2017 13:42

I have a feeling her name will be called first tonight.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/12/2017 13:58

Hi @fussycustard 👋🏼

I was out last night and just watching it now.

Loved Joe and have softened to Alex now

Watching Mollie murder the samba just now. Painful doesn’t even cover it!

TheSassyAssassin · 10/12/2017 14:45

Has Fuzzy gone Fussy now too Shirley? Def need an Little FK and CP intervention!!! Xmas Grin

ShirleyPhallus · 10/12/2017 15:04

Oh shit sorry!! Fuzzy I meant!

Right all caught up now. Completely ageee with all the comments on here.

Stand outs for me:
Joe’s final lift. Holy crap that was good ans Katya is AMAZING
Alex’s pigeon fucking toes. How how how is she so sickled and it hasn’t been sorted yet?
Tess constantly talking over the judges was particularly annoying from this episode

Mollie just has to go. The difference between her and the others was such stark contrast today. The AJ romance is boring now too.

I reckon Gemma will be in the DO now with Mollie, I think when it gets to this stage the public switches to judging the dancing rather than just who they like

Ps, is Debbie really 59? Really?!

SoupDragon · 10/12/2017 15:10

Alexandra definitely doesn't deserve to be in the DO this week. I'm not overly surprised about last week because, speaking as an average Knows Nothing member of the public, I didn't like her charleston at all.

SoupDragon · 10/12/2017 15:13

I would quite like a DO between Joe or Debbie and Mollie.

FuzzyCustard · 10/12/2017 15:14

Reads above maths.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/12/2017 16:49

is Debbie really 59? Really?!

Hush, Shirley - It's a secret.

Debbie doesn't like to take about it.

I thought she was grossly overmarked for her jive - she could barely lift her feet at times (though did remarkably well for a woman of - what was it? I forget. Oh - yes. 59.), but her second dance was lovely.

I think Mollie has to be in the dance off, but I wouldn't like to guess who she will be against. Whoever it is, Mollie will go. She has reached her limit, and she knows it.

RhiannonOHara · 10/12/2017 17:12

Me too! I was fully prepared to like it; I thought the clean kicks and bounciness would suit her – but it was laboured and heavy. I really think I was watching a different dance to the judges.

I didn't mind her foxtrot but it was a bit saccharine and I'm sure there was a dodgy bit when she wandered off on her own doing some half-hearted posing.

Mollie was shite. Sorry Mollie, but it's true. I too think AJ might be gay.

Gemma's rumba was quite good but I agreed with Craig that the leg and hip action didn't flow through into the upper body and arms. Her tango was dull, I thought.

Alexandra's waltz was pretty and I loved the frock with the marabou trim. Again, the judges (and this thread!) were watching a different dance when she did her salsa; I thought it was messy and too lifty. I loved the cherry-red outfits though and I think Gorka looked hot as fuck this week.

Joe's AS was good. Wasn't sure about his AT. I think he's a bit tubby to pull off the tucked-in boring shirt with jeans thing; he looked like some bloke who has to find smart-ish clothes for work and cobbles something together and doesn't iron them properly. Shallow of me, I know.

I thought his legs weren't great –he didn't point his toes much –and that last lift reminded me of a wheelbarrow race, and also made me think of someone mowing the lawn. I thought the hands-over-the-face thing was pretentious and Am-Dram, and at the end he just sort of stomped/stropped off.

He was probably the best of a somewhat underwhelming bunch, though. Strange semi-final.

I still think Gemma will probably go; I suspect Mollie crying will have given her a sympathy vote.

ChoccyJules · 10/12/2017 17:13

I'm worried that it could be a Mollie:Gemma DO because the judges seem to be far more fussy about what Gemma is doing in the dancing (with Mollie, they are just blissfully happy that she's attractive, dancing not important) and could boot the wrong one out Shock

FuzzyCustard · 10/12/2017 17:16

Rhiannon I like your description of Joe's clothes (even though I luffs him). I couldn't work out what the bondagey/boy scout rucksack additions on the shoulder were.

RhiannonOHara · 10/12/2017 17:20

Yes, I think they were going for bondage but he's not tall/lean/manly enough to pull off the look!

I sound really mean, I know, but I actually quite like him. Grin And I LOVE Katya. She's a genius.

CaptainBrickbeard · 10/12/2017 17:34

I like Mollie and she and AJ are my children’s favourite so she has had some of my votes up til now, but I think it would be wrong for her to go through to the final. I think she’s lovely and I enjoyed her rumba and her waltz plus I admire her commitment to training so hard, but the others are all pretty far ahead of her now.

I hope Alexandra isn’t in the dance off again; the vitriol towards her is horrible.

I love Debbie and Gemma but we have money on Joe to win and got pretty good odds when we bet on him at the very start so I am backing him all the way now!

Emilybrontescorsett · 10/12/2017 17:55

I want either Debbie or Alex to win. I think they are the best dancers.
W hat the hell was Joe wearing??? Had the wardrobe department ran out of money ? He looked awful and it spoilt it for me.
I was put off by his wobbles, more than one, and ithink Katya carries him.
Poor Mollie, I think it's time for her to go.

Seconded in it's entirety. Good call.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/12/2017 18:25

Emily

I have previously commented that the wardrobe department are dressing the competitors in clothes that the producers have stripped off a dead tramp they found in a skip.

I have had no reason to revise that opinion.
