I dont think that the writers really understood the whole freehold/ leasehold thing that well to be honest -
If shirley and linda had played their cards right and did it properly, then they wouldnt be in this mess i suppose.
I don;t know how the Carters bought the pub from Phil in the first place, they must have got it for a song to start with.
Its all a bit of mess really.

They can’t claim the signatures were forged so the lease sale is void without putting Shirleyvsnd Linda in jail for fraud.

The story is silly. The roof starting falling in and the building practically fell in on them. It would take a lot more to fix than Shirley’s Polish builder spending a few days there and Tiffany picking out new wall paper.

WEll to be fair the pub is the only real story line at the moment. Apart from this
Job going down with Phil and JP. Would be interesting to see if Vins get sent prison and loses everything how Kim cope with single mum with no money but expensive tastes. Especially after the way she looks down on Karen.

The pub lease is a pathetic piece of writing.

Good point about Sharon, 80s. I've no idea what she does. She was working for M&L doing the pub books, but they had to let her go when they tightened their belts.

She always manages to look busy though, doesn't she!

Thinking about it, Phil doesn't work either, does he? And he's signed over his main assets to Ben & Jay.

Perhaps moving the dodgy item (whatever it is - hopefully a supply of decent scripts) through Walford is more out of financial necessity than boredom!

I was thinking about the forged signature for the weyland deal, and I wonder if after so long it now wouldn't matter as such.

The time to kick up the fuss was when Mick returned and found out his pub had been signed away. But Mick knows this and has gone along with it to protect Shirley.

I can't imagine they have any way now to play the forged signature card.

I'm not really clued up on the intricacies of contracts in law...... if I ever sign something major I would pay a Solicitor to read it and advise or, if say I had a child, living and working with me, who has a law degree...... I would at the very least ask them to cast an eye or take their probable advice to send it to my solicitor to be looked at.....

Never mind let's just hope this new guy is going to rattle through all these ridiculous stories and we can get onto something better around Christmas.

I think we are meant to believe that Shirley's Polish builder friend did fix the roof ( or patched it up enough to stop the leaks) Maybe thats what this ' survey' that weyland carried out found to be wanting ? not that they would be worried if the whole pub is going to be pulled down anyway and swanky new apartments are going up instead. I am sure that people will pay half a million or whatever to gaze at the view of Arthur's bench and Karen's bra strap!!I can't see the pub going however , its the heart of the soap - unless they all end up drinking in the Albert instead. which is even smaller than the Vic.

I can see Shirley getting even with Fi. Wouldn't be surprised to see Fi get a good ol' Eastenders flushing her head down the queen vic toilets.

I hope it carries on from Friday in the pub not mick, linda and clan sitting round the kitchen table cursing the world and everyone talking about it on the market. Also why wasn't masons and kush in the pub on Friday? She invited them didn't she? Would have thought kush would walked over and knocked out max there and then.

When Carmel invited Kush, he said he had to go to the gym (or somewhere equally unimportant) but would try to pop in later.

If the Polish builder just patched things up enough to fix one part of the problem, it would make sense that the Carters believed to fix it properly would cost £69K as its a big old building. But what then did the Carters do with the money they got. The dog’s operation was about £5, the build patch up wouldn’t have cost more than £5K as he was there less than a week. I think they sold the freehold for very little though - was it £20K or something ridiculous. Even then they can’t have spent over £10K on pub theme nights!

Nothing more was ever mentioned about Ollie’s development either. Who actually minds him when thy are all fussing around the kitchen table.

Ian seems to have got over Jane’s exit remarkably well. Barely mentions her st all.

What about Denny too? Another child who raises himself.

They could always hire their own staff to run it for a while i suppose - I can just see JWB in a pinny serving up the Turkey specials and Fi serving pints.
The money is a mystery, but i suppose even 20k was a blessing for them as they had a lot of bills to find all at once - and Shirley couldnt see the Dog die as Mick is so devoted to her ( and takes her for walks to 'clear his 'ead' now and again.)

That’s crazy thing couldn’t raise 25k but raised 40k... in 3 weeks. What’s supposed have changed? All Fi did was advise sack staff then re hired more. Not even explained how did it. Could least rented pub out on air bnb for silly money to bunch of Americans as authentic London. But we are supposed believe flogging few extra packs of cheese and onion has made all the difference

I dont know, i think that the writers had a good plot idea back in January for ' Max's revenge' on the ones that ' did him wrong' over Lucy and going to prison etc etc - I can imagine that business's are being bought up and re developed all over the East end as its so close to the City and, some people, are sitting on a gold mine as regards house prices etc, so the opportunity to do them up and make a mint are all there - the pub is actually doing really well and not succumbed to being shut down ( as a lot of pubs are ) so you would think that they would want it to stay as a pub and just do it up a bit to bring in more punters, especially if these penthouse type flats do sell.
However, its all become a bit muddled - linda had to have time off to have a baby in real life, then DD was told to take time off to ' sort himself out' and the old producer wanted a bit of a cull of characters - so its now become this. Still, at least now they all know what's going on. Save the Vic! ( we should get some t shirts printed up)

The plotting and writing are now so terrible I feel insulted, especially the pub money and lease 'story'.
