Silly old episode. All sitting around looking at Lauren being rocked to sleep.
Dot waking up and suddenly being 'in charge'. Don't any of these people have jobs to go to? And they are able within minutes to grab fifteen shovels and start tidying up the square.
Ian turning to Max to support him. Really?
Max rummaging around in the room of someone in intensive care. Well I suppose that isn't beyond the realms of possibility but then Ben being able to walk in too. Isn't there a two people only rule for intensive care I thought Max was going to switch off her machines. By stealing her phone, is he going to say she is hallucinating or will she be unable to speak and will try numerous times but nobody will listen to her as this is what usually happens in EE.
Abi was good but when the police arrived to interview both Lauren and Abi, how on earth do the police just allow their interviewees to walk out of the house mid interview. It happens time and time again in EE. This wouldn't happen in real life, ever, would it?
Where is Kathy while all this is going on?

iknowimcoming · 11/09/2017 23:05

Kaffys on her holidays isn't she - she muttered something about it to Lauren I think (maybe she wouldn't be part of the 'big week'?) agree that Ian asking max to support him was ludicrous (although not surprising at the moment) since when were Ian and max buddies? Confused

DameSquashalot · 11/09/2017 23:33

I kept falling asleep, but was awake to see Ian ask Max to come to the room with him. WTAF!!!! WALOR

LineysRunner · 11/09/2017 23:36

Well, Ian is the son of the man whose other son was the half-brother (at least) of the man who spawned Steven, who was marrying Lauren, so Max and Ian, they're faaaaaamily.

LineysRunner · 11/09/2017 23:36

And yes it's rubbish.

Choccywoccyhooha · 12/09/2017 01:08

Another ridiculous episode. I kept wondering why they had Lauren in that grubby house share, why not take her to Uncle Jack's or Dot's?

My fave villains were definitely Janine and Michael, but the scariest was Trevor Morgan, those episodes were so difficult to watch, such good acting too.

HateSummer · 12/09/2017 01:26

Yes! I was trying to think of how many other houses Lauren could've sat in, but they were all huddled in that shit hole singing koombaya!

tobee · 12/09/2017 01:29

Just caught up.

I found that episode .... baffling

And bad.

The bit with dot rallying the troops was embarrassing. Like some school musical. Sean O'Connor is particularly bad at these ensemble pieces. Like the bit after the fire at the prom.

Blah!

tobee · 12/09/2017 01:30

Koombays lol!

The80sweregreat · 12/09/2017 06:22

It was surreal. Dot not hearing the explosion, nobody even checking up on her? Then running around opening the cafe, singing to Lauren and making rally speeches? Where were all the many children whilst this was going on? ( the missing kids annoy me more than anything, I could never leave mine! ) max wandering around the hospital! I guess there is a link between him and Ian, never thought of it before. Lauren back on the bottle is sad though. She shd get advice from Phil about that.

southeastdweller · 12/09/2017 07:47

I was cringing myself inside out in the rallying the troups scenes. More Sean O'Connor crap.

The80sweregreat · 12/09/2017 07:53

As if everyone would do what Dot wants! i would say ' lets ring the council to clean up , Dot' or ' i have a job to go to' or ' where was Sonia and Robbie , why didnt they check up on you ages ago' ? or just ' please, its not world war 2 mate, just another average day on the square' something like that. not just meekly pick up a broom and dust Arthur's bench!!
Karen's flip flops are starting to annoy me - i hope they give her shoes when the weather changes poor thing. Keegan is horrible too, he needs to be put in his place.

I wanted Steven to be arrested for impersonating a dog rather than die.

iknowimcoming · 12/09/2017 08:55

Surely there'd be one or two British gas vans around after a gas main explosion too? Not sure you can fix those with a broom and some elbow grease Hmm

Poor old kathy's going to get quite a shock when she gets home to find half her family dead/dying - I wonder if miss piggy has phoned her?

Wonder what they'll do with Karen's winter wardrobe so thats it clear she's poor to us halfwits, since it'll be a bit cold for vest tops with bra straps showing. I'd guess they'll swap the flip flops for some fake ugg boots tho Grin

MrsJayy · 12/09/2017 08:59

Dh is a gasman he was raging at no gasvans ranting about it being a major incident and not 1 gasvan

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 12/09/2017 09:11

I can't take anymore of this nonsense tbh. To think EE used to be one of the UK's top drama's. Its a shame how crap it's got. I'm warming to the Taylors now though. They just need to tone it down a bit with Karen.

MrsBotox · 12/09/2017 09:44

I was waiting for Lauren to open her eyes followed by a duf duf when Abi and Donna were discussing it all.
I think Karen's shorts are a bit camel's foot for pre watershed TV.

Optimist1 · 12/09/2017 09:58

I'm still staggered that SuperSon was dishing out whatever it was in the Vic, double-checking Mr Pryce and generally busybodying about but didn't go to check on Dot (for whom she is formal carer at the moment)!

AGnu · 12/09/2017 10:02

I was just about coping with Dot's rallying until they all got their brooms & rather than just get on with it they all gathered in one spot & waited to be told to go tidy!

Max's sister had a child with Ian's half-brother. There's many links between them! Another of Max's nieces was married to Ian's cousin.

AGnu · 12/09/2017 10:05

Sonia did say she was going to check on Dot. I guess maybe she checked on her, saw she was asleep & left her to it. Personally I'd be a bit concerned about an elderly relative who slept that soundly for that length of time while fully dressed in a chair!

Thymeout · 12/09/2017 10:29

Is there some point in having sent Kathy off on holiday, when she's hard-up, so she's missed all this?

How old is Dot? Surely she's able to remember the war herself, instead of having to refer to her mother's memories? Yes. I hate the inspirational speeches, too. Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner from Kim and now the Blitz spirit from Dot. All that stuff with the brooms reminded me of Boris' great sweep-up when he arrived back from holiday a week late after the riots. About as authentic as Mockney's rhyming slang.

About the only character I like at the moment is Donna.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 12/09/2017 10:42

Abi looked tiny beside Lauren last night. I never realised she was so small before though Lauren is probably very tall. It was never obvious before.

Exactly AGnu would somebody really leave Dot snoozing in a chair during all that commotion. I'd see that as an indictator that she should never be left alone.

I almost expected the cast to grab their brooms and start dancing to Hang out the washing on the Siegfried line. m.youtube.com/watch?v=o3WPted_ihs

No can't talk about that- we like suprises! Only exception is when someone is obviously pregnant and we try and guess what reason they give for them to disappear for next year.

AGnu · 12/09/2017 10:45

I think they forgot to write any lines for Kathy & then the actress pointed out that, as Ian's mum, she'd be there supporting him. Rather than try & shoe-horn yet another person into the hospital corridor they decided to just send her away!

Dot was a little girl during the war & was evacuated so wouldn't have seen much of the blitz clear up herself.

LorLorr2 · 12/09/2017 10:50

Ahh sorry, I remembered there's a spoiler thread too so i'll have a look for that now Smile

The crowd meeting up with their mops and brooms made me go hahahahaaarr
